Chapter 312 - Chapter 311 - In a Strange World.

[Chapter Size: 3000 Words.]

Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

"Hey, Snape!" A tone of icy contempt echoed, and Severus was soon pulled out of his thoughts about that strange world.

He looked at Mulciber in front of him. The boy was clearly not used to Severus's indifference and stared at him with a look of disdain, as if Severus had no right to be arrogant in his presence.

"Mind your own business, you idiot," Severus replied simply.

The table on that side turned toward them, stunned by what had just been said. Severus never used that tone of voice with any of them, much less such offensive words.

"What did you say, you retard? You may be for the cause, but don't get too full of yourself, Snape. You're still a half-blood!" Mulciber snarled.

Severus kept his gaze fixed on him, showing no displeasure at the mention of his blood status.

However, he acted.

Suddenly, Severus's black eyes began to emit a purple glow. Mulciber only had time to notice the color before his throat began to be squeezed. He choked, bringing his hands to his neck as he felt an invisible force tightening around him, suffocating him right there.

The entire table froze.

Mulciber began to thrash, trying to breathe, letting out muffled groans. Severus ignored the shocked looks of everyone around him, staring only at Mulciber, who was especially stunned by his eyes, now strangely glowing.

He raised his arm and pulled back the sleeve of his Slytherin Hogwarts robe, revealing a tattoo, or rather, a mark, stamped on his skin.

It was the Dark Mark of the Death Eaters.

"Damn… I became this," Severus murmured in an unpleasant tone.

He could already sense the chaos forming at the Slytherin table, but he ignored it. Mulciber was turning purple, unable to breathe, his neck still constricted, while Severus wasn't even paying attention to him at that moment.

"Severus! Severus, stop this immediately!" The severe voice made Severus lift his gaze suddenly.

The entire school was staring at him. Mulciber was still writhing on the floor, groaning under the pressure on his neck. He had fallen from his chair and was now in the middle of the floor between the tables, apparently begging for someone to save him.

The Slytherin students looked at Severus with fear and shock. Some were standing. At the other tables, all eyes were on him with every kind of astonishment.

Nearby, Dumbledore stood with the other professors, while Slughorn tried to help Mulciber.

Everyone was looking at Severus.

There was a glimmer of fear in the students' eyes as they stared into Severus's purple eyes. The professors also watched, following his gaze to the mark on his arm.

Severus looked at Dumbledore. He looked at Mulciber, nearly dead. Students from the other houses even began to grow restless and frightened.

Then, slowly, he turned his gaze back to his own arm, ignoring everyone once again.

He simply placed a finger over the black mark of the Death Eaters, and it began to react, moving beneath his skin. Severus then pulled his finger away, tearing out the mark itself, which came with it, taking the form of a dark snake that writhed violently.

Before he could react, Severus removed it completely and grabbed it. The snake seemed frightened atop his hand. And he simply crushed it, squeezing without difficulty, making it let out a wail of lament that echoed throughout the hall with a sinister hiss, causing most of the students to shudder.

When Severus squeezed harder, it exploded into black mist and disappeared completely. His arm was clean again.

He then looked at Mulciber and snapped his fingers, finally releasing the pressure on his neck. Mulciber collapsed to the floor, coughing violently, amid a fit of breathlessness. His eyes turned to Severus, and there was no arrogance left there.

There was no defiance.

Only fear.

Even the other arrogant students now feared Severus in some way because of what had happened; they had all seen him simply removing Voldemort's mark as if it were nothing.

Dumbledore was still watching him, in silence. He had seen Severus tear out Voldemort's Mark perfectly clearly — as the Slytherin students had already received — but never, not even in his dreams, had he imagined seeing someone simply remove it as if it were nothing, as he himself had witnessed there.

And that wasn't even the most frightening part.

Those purple eyes sent a chill down the spine of the most powerful wizard of the century. The power emanating from those eyes was pure power. Dumbledore knew that Severus Snape — or whatever he was at that moment — was far more powerful than anything he had ever seen in his entire life.

Even the other professors were uncomfortable.

Severus had not used any wand. He had nearly killed a student and acted with a calm gaze, as if none of it were really important.

He had almost committed a murder in front of the entire school. Even being a student of his own house. Even being from Slytherin. It was something none of them could accept.

Severus simply turned and left his bench. As he stood, he cast one last look at the professors and at Mulciber, who was still coughing on the floor.

He said nothing. He ignored the gaze of the entire school, laden with fear and caution, and turned to leave. However, he had only taken a few steps before remembering something. He returned to the Slytherin table, where the Death Eaters were standing in formation.

"Hogwarts may be protecting you now, but I intend to eliminate all of you… and your families."

He spoke coldly before the entire school.

And as absurd as those words might have seemed — words that would normally be met with laughter and insults aimed at a half-blood — Severus's gaze made every syllable absolutely convincing.

Without saying anything else, he left the Great Hall, passing through the doors and disappearing.

"What was that?" Minerva asked, breaking the silence as she approached the headmaster, visibly shaken after everything that had just happened.

"I… I don't know," Dumbledore replied, still stunned.

He looked toward the Slytherin table; even those who were Death Eaters remained in absolute silence, eyes shining with caution and fear.

"I don't know…," Dumbledore whispered.

If he had tried to fight Severus, his instincts told him he wouldn't have had the slightest chance.

'What happened to you?' was the only thing Dumbledore managed to murmur, remembering that Severus had never been anything like what he had witnessed that night.

Severus did not return to Slytherin. He was on top of the Hogwarts roof, sitting and watching the moon in the sky in a thoughtful manner. He tried to understand his situation, to comprehend what was happening.

That was not his world.

It was a world where it seemed he was being shown Severus's fate if he had not committed suicide in that small room in Diagon Alley. It was as if that were a vision of the future, in a way, if he had not fused with Morou's soul and the power of the Shadow Monarch.

"What is going on…? That damn ruler pierced my heart. What irony. In the end, I served the Order that the rulers created as Morou Kaind… only to die to one of them," Severus snarled.

His body was thin and malnourished at that moment, but he definitely possessed a human heart — in addition to the black heart that now also existed within him.

Shadows began to rise around Severus, sliding silently, as Bellion, Beru, and Igris appeared behind him.

"Voldemort is no longer among my shadows, along with all the wizards I had before," Severus said.

Quickly, he realized that almost all of his shadows had returned, with the exception of the wizards and creatures he had captured in that world — one of them being Juggernaut, who was not among them.

Severus decided to act. Whether that was an alternate world, an illusion, or something completely different, he would know the truth.

"I want the three of you to hunt down all the Death Eaters and bring Voldemort to me alive. You may rip off his arms and legs, but bring him alive. If there is any answer for me in this world, it must be at the Ministry," Severus ordered, thinking of the Department of Mysteries.

There, perhaps, he would find his answers.

He watched the shadows disappear shortly afterward. His eyes then turned to one of the towers whose windows faced that side of the roof, where he saw Dumbledore still staring at the place with a certain astonishment. Severus didn't care. Dumbledore was nothing to him at that moment.

Without further hesitation, Severus vanished using shadow teleportation, leaving the rooftop empty.

He went to his quarters in Slytherin to retrieve his belongings. Upon entering the dormitory, he found Avery in his own room, who froze when he saw him.

Avery was torn between anger and fear.

Severus could have been angry with him for being in his room, but he ignored him completely and rummaged through his belongings. He found his Potions book, signed by the Half-Blood Prince. He flipped through the pages quickly, seeing various scribbles, black magic, and dark spells that he himself had created.

Severus merely shook his head. That no longer mattered.

He put the notebook away along with other things he considered important.

He needed to discover what he had become in that world.

"You removed his mark… who are you?" Avery finally spoke after being ignored. Severus had now stood up, and when he saw Severus approach, the Slytherin immediately drew his wand and took a step back. He was terrified.

He knew Severus, and this was not the one he was used to.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you, Avery," Severus said seriously.

"You can't act like this. Severus never acted like this. You're not him," Avery accused.

Severus had to agree. "That's true. But that doesn't matter," he replied coldly. "Pay attention: all Death Eaters… you are like plagues. Enjoy your time, because the moment you step outside Hogwarts along with the others, I will come after you," Severus said, leaving the boy pale. Soon after, Avery snarled, trying to assert himself.

"Who do you think you are to speak to us like that? You may have strangled Mulciber tonight, you may have left us frightened in Slytherin, and even if you're not the Snape we remember... we still know who you are. You are nothing. You don't have the strength to fight him… or the cause. All the Death Eaters will kill you as soon as you are outside Hogwarts. What happened tonight will not go unnoticed!" Avery said, gathering the courage to throw those words at Severus.

"Well, Avery, understand one thing," Severus replied calmly. "Before dawn, all the Death Eaters will be dead. Tomorrow, you will receive the news printed in the Daily Prophet… along with your father's death."

With those words, Severus simply left the room after taking almost everything that belonged to him. He went out through the door, and Avery did not try to stop him. He remained frozen in place, seized by a degree of fear and despair. Hatred was no longer the strongest feeling within him.

Severus walked firmly down the corridor of the boys' dormitory and entered the Slytherin common room, which was crowded. The students were darkly discussing what they had seen that night, until one of them pointed, trembling, at Severus appearing there.

A collective gasp swept through the room. Some students even stepped back when they saw him come out of the dormitory and stop to stare at them.

Mulciber was among them, watching Severus with hatred and fear.

"He can't threaten us like that," one of the students commented nearby, and several agreed.

Most of them would be Death Eaters in the future, many already bearing the mark or about to receive it. Even Regulus Black frowned, staring at Severus somewhere between anger and an attempt to unravel a great mystery.

After all, that was not the Severus that anyone there knew.

"He disrespected us tonight. We shouldn't let this slide. If the Dark Lord hears about this, we'll be punished for letting a half-blood offend us and scare us with a few tricks," someone said. "Clearly he enchanted Mulciber, some effect with those eyes."

It was possible to see that many agreed. Confidence was slowly beginning to return.

Severus soon turned to face all of them.

"I still spared you because you are still at Hogwarts. But if you think you can fight me… very well," Severus said.

A wave of anger swept through the room, and, supporting one another, their confidence began to grow. Soon, a group of students drew their wands. All the seventh-year students did the same, pointing them at Severus, ready to cast Unforgivable Curses.

Severus only wanted to laugh at those fools.

Then, he decided to scare them.

His shadow began to manifest beneath his feet, expanding across the floor behind him, spreading and invading that entire side of the common room. The students let out gasps of surprise and fear as the shadows completely took over that area, turning it into darkness as if they were facing the abyss itself.

Creatures began to emerge from them.

The students' confidence vanished almost instantly. They stepped back as dozens of shadows, of all kinds of creatures, began to appear, vastly outnumbering the students. That was only a small fraction of the shadow army that Severus had released merely to intimidate them.

But the mana released by the creatures spread, making everyone begin to struggle to breathe. The entire room trembled.

"You think you are untouchable. Your master thinks he is untouchable. But I assure you: you are nothing. Blood purity is nothing compared to raw power. It will not prevent death, it will not make you seem any less insignificant with your magical abilities, which were never remarkable beyond torturing and raping… as some of you and the Death Eaters do."

The shadows began to slowly dissipate.

The students could no longer speak. Only collective groans echoed as everyone lay on the floor, trying to breathe — not because of Severus's telekinesis, but because of the crushing pressure of the mana the creatures had released.

Then, he simply turned and began to leave.

Severus entered the corridors of Hogwarts, leaving Slytherin behind and exiting the dungeons. As he walked, he observed the paintings, looking for those that could serve as portals.

None of them represented a portal, and he ignored the gossip and the fear in the eyes of the paintings, since by that point the entire school already knew what had happened in the main common room.

That made him even more curious. That world was different. There were no portals. There was no Monarchy. There were no rulers. Much less the people he knew — they were not the same people from his world; he felt like a complete stranger there.

Severus stopped suddenly and looked ahead. "Potter… honestly, you're an idiot," Severus mocked.

The Invisibility Cloak was lifted, revealing James Potter and Sirius Black, who stared at him. Shortly after, Peter Pettigrew emerged from behind a pillar, joining his friends.

"What you did in the common room was evil, greasy," Black began.

"What happened to you, greasy? Suddenly you're fighting Death Eaters using tricks? I'll admit you've got style, but you're still the same greasy, evil, and horrible one," James Potter mocked.

"Just look at him… using a few tricks," Peter commented, laughing along with the others.

Severus narrowed his eyes. He tried to search for memories in that body, in that version of Severus, and began to sift through them. He found memories from sixth year onward, being provoked by Potter and the other two repeatedly, even in seventh year. Although they seemed to have stopped openly provoking him, they still attacked him whenever he was alone in the corridors, especially when Lily was not around.

Severus stared at them as they removed their wands, preparing to attack him.

"You really are all the same," was the only thing he said.

They didn't have time to react.

Suddenly, his eyes flashed, and without any movement from him, in the next instant, the legs of all three snapped at the same time. A simultaneous scream of pain and surprise echoed through the corridor as Severus broke all their legs, making them fall to the ground, stunned.

Before they could scream again, Severus pressed on each of their necks, preventing them from breathing. They stared at him in terror and in a pain they had never felt before.

Once again, Severus frightened people who were used to the old Severus, using his brute force against anyone.

"You really are all the same," Severus repeated.

He stepped closer, raised his wand, and in the next moment, an energy began to emanate from their bodies, flowing directly into Severus's wand.

"I may not have been this Severus… but I will certainly take revenge for him. At least on you. I will take something that will change your lives, for having turned this Severus's life into hell for several years..."

With those words, Severus removed every last particle of energy from them. Then he sealed their mouths so they could not scream and released their throats, leaving them on the floor, twisted, still with their legs broken.

Severus simply moved on, walking past them.

One of them tried to raise a wand — Black — looking at Severus with hatred while enduring the pain. He tried to cast a nonverbal spell, but nothing came out of his wand.

Severus stopped and looked at him with an amused expression.

"I have just turned you into magical abortions. I removed the magic from your bodies. You are no longer wizards. So stop holding that useless object in your hands." With those words, Severus continued walking down the corridor toward the fireplace.
