Chapter 219 - Chapter 218 - The Battle in the Sky of London.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Somewhere in the south of England.

...

...

The place where Lily had been kept fell completely silent after a lightning bolt shot out from it and flew into the sky when everything went quiet, as if that was the signal that everything that had happened inside was over.

The lightning was so fast that the Muggles there believed it had come from the sky, not the other way around.

Obviously, the fight drew the attention of the small Muggle town surrounding the abandoned complex, with the place going completely dark after that surge.

Then, people began to witness flashes lighting up inside the entire place, wondering what was happening in there.

Then came the roars of some still unknown creature, but apparently quite large, due to the deep tone emitted in its sound, making anyone who had even the slightest desire to go there immediately tremble with fear.

The Muggles shouted to each other about what was going on and whether they should run away from there because of some kind of monster.

People began calling the authorities, reporting what was happening near the town, without anyone being able to describe exactly what it was.

Some wizards who lived nearby also came immediately, from the first surge that Severus had released, wanting to know what it was and what that magical power meant.

But all they saw were screams, spells being cast inside the place—many of them, in fact—and most of them were death curses with that wicked color illuminating the inside.

There must have been dozens of wizards inside, while the creature's roars devastated everyone, with even faint screams of people dying being heard from afar.

They saw when a dark mass flew into the sky, and then a lightning bolt followed right behind. But no one had the courage to approach, while the place fell into complete silence. The only thing they suspected was that those involved had fled into the sky without knowing how they were doing it.

It was then that the Aurors finally arrived at the location, using brooms since they could only use Floo Powder from a distance. They flew there on their brooms, some immediately mingling with the Muggles, asking them to stay calm, using spells to avoid suspicion that they were wizards while also controlling the situation. Meanwhile, other Aurors gathered, asking the wizards who were already there what they had seen, what had happened.

They seemed lost, confused, not knowing what to do after hearing the witnesses. The place appeared completely silent.

Some tried to send spells to scan the area before approaching, but couldn't get a clear indication of what had happened, seeing a barrier in place and still hesitant to investigate personally after what they had heard and also because of the magical explosion they had felt earlier.

Things began to get more organized as more and more groups of Aurors arrived at the location.

"What should we do, sir?" an Auror asked the man in charge of the squad, Alastor Moody.

"We have no choice..." said Alastor Moody, with his magical eye analyzing the place. "There's a huge magical field in the area, but it seems to be a restrictive spell from within, not a barrier itself. We must investigate." He spoke finally, with all the men getting ready, alert, although quite tense.

Either way, a group finally began to approach, taking every precaution as they reached the area. They saw all the marks created around the place, surprised by this magical field created with magical glyphs — they couldn't even Apparate after crossing its line.

"Be careful," Alastor Moody warned, as they finally began to enter the dark place, starting to use "Lumos," since the runes around the building didn't allow any spell that could light up the entire area, only small "Lumos" spells.

"What happened here...?" they questioned more and more, as the place was completely shrouded in a sinister atmosphere, growing worse with each step in the midst of that darkness, with even the Aurors unable to stop sweat from trickling down their faces.

Alastor Moody kept his magical eye on the entire area, but he couldn't see anything beyond the darkness.

They kept walking until one of them stopped after seeing blood on the floor. The moment the "Lumos" lit up a three-meter area in a direction the group hadn't initially been heading, everyone looked—horrified—while the first reaction from some Aurors was simply to vomit.

"!!!!"

"By Merlin... what happened here?" Alastor Moody murmured, seeing the corpses completely torn apart across the place. And there were two of them.

"I know him, sir. He's the head of the Lestrange family!" an Auror murmured, trembling, as the body before them was completely shredded and destroyed, and the other had a huge hole in the chest, though the face remained intact.

Moody swallowed hard, extremely cautious. If someone that powerful had been killed in such a way, he couldn't help but worry even more about what was really going on there.

As they examined the bodies further, seeing that their deaths were caused by some sort of creature with claws, and realizing that whatever had been there was now gone, they continued to search the area, as the number of corpses began to increase, and everything was bathed in blood in every possible corner.

More and more Ministry members began to arrive, all shocked at the dozens of Death Eater bodies, all dead. Most belonged to great families. At least twelve of the twenty-eight sacred families. Some were completely wiped out that night. This would shake the wizarding world like never before in Britain.

They found a house-elf at the location, trembling, but alive—the only one—while he couldn't even speak properly to anyone. All he kept saying was that the monster killed his master, tearing him like paper, and the house-elf got so scared he fled and hid. But the monster didn't kill him.

Alastor Moody would have to wait for the house-elf to calm down before learning exactly what had happened, as he wasn't making any sense.

"Sir, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement just arrived!" an Auror interrupted Moody's thoughts at that moment.

"Is the Minister here too?" Moody asked, as the Auror shook his head.

"No, sir. He's in no condition, still hospitalized," he said.

After all, the Minister for Magic who had been speaking in recent days was actually a Ministry member under Polyjuice Potion. Snape had broken several of his bones in a way that he hadn't been recovering well after being confronted at Hogwarts when he tried to capture Rosaria Valenstein, even with all the potions being administered at St. Mungo's Hospital.

"I see. Continue searching for clues. We'll speak with her, because it seems what happened here was a fight between the two known Dark Lords... and it doesn't look like it ended well for You-Know-Who." Moody left the area.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the English sky, the black streak kept flying, cutting through the clouds, fleeing the scene as fast as possible.

Voldemort was frustrated and lost. He had practically watched all of his followers—the last of them—be massacred right there.

He had underestimated another Dark Lord.

How could he have imagined that someone could possess such power?

How could he truly fight Severus Snape? A boy who was simply shattering every known notion of magic in the world, even his own after decades of study, brought down by a teenager who hadn't even finished Hogwarts yet.

How could he have claimed to be the strongest man in the world? And worse—proven it?

How had he acquired such a body? One that could even resist the Cruciatus Curse...

How could he possess such immense magic?

And what were those creatures?

Voldemort had never understood anything about Snape. He had considered the boy a disposable addition to his ranks when he first heard of him while ordering his men to recruit skilled potion masters.

But Severus was something he had never imagined the boy could become. The power he had... was beyond Voldemort's understanding...

It was a power he desired above all, believing he could obtain it when he saw him using it in the battle in the Muggle city...

But the answer he received when he tried to seize that power... was the result of his followers dying—and him being powerless, with that creature immune to any attack. Even the Fiendfyre he had conjured was useless.

That terrified him.

For the first time, Voldemort was afraid.

As he continued fleeing through the sky, he didn't even notice something in the distance above, following him.

When he entered a cloud, flying through it, the flash of a lightning bolt coming from behind was obscured. He was about to Apparate, to finally vanish and rethink his strategy after this failure.

And it was in that moment, when a blade came flying at high speed with lightning wrapped around it from a distance, emitting a sound and a flash so fast that not even Voldemort had time to react.

As he moved his wand to teleport, the lightning's glow lit up behind him and then came straight for him, the sound arriving a millisecond later, something flying and striking his flying spell's core, hitting his thigh, and immediately he let out a scream of pain.

"AHHHHHH!!!!"

His cry of agony echoed within the cloud, as he turned around, seeing tiny lightning flashes in the distance through the darkness, flickering faintly.

He tried to Apparate at that moment, but it no longer worked, which sent him into a panic.

"No...." He tried to move his wand several times, but the dagger embedded in his leg bore glyphs that prevented him from teleporting—just as Snape had done with Dumbledore.

He burst out of the cloud and continued flying in a black streak, leaving smoke and a trail of blood behind, always glancing back, seeing flashes of lightning in the distance, wondering if it was Severus Snape pursuing him, as he tried to flee as fast as possible, attempting to Apparate the entire time by moving his wand.

But his teleportation magic no longer worked.

Severus wouldn't let him escape. That made it worse for Voldemort, as he flew while constantly looking behind, at high speed.

It gave the feeling of a rat fleeing from death.

How could he escape? The lightning never disappeared.

They always flashed in the distance, as if Severus were watching his every moment, every attempt to flee.

Voldemort had never imagined being in such a state since becoming the new Dark Lord after Gellert Grindelwald.

He was terrified.

It didn't take long before they finally reached London, with the city glowing beneath them.

Then Severus finally appeared, and fear took on a new level for Voldemort, when lightning simply flashed above him, closing the distance in just a second, with Severus appearing with his wand in hand, half his body transformed into lightning.

Voldemort was already preparing as well, half of his body still black clouds, blood streaming from his leg with the dagger still embedded, unable to shoot spells yet, but ready to strike Severus with his wand.

"Avada Kedavra!" Voldemort exclaimed, casting the curse at Severus, who simply conjured a blue lightning bolt with his wand.

Immediately, the green energy and the blue energy collided with each other the next moment, creating a shock in the middle of the sky, while both flew at high speed, side by side, locked in magical combat.

Voldemort was stunned by the fact that Snape had managed to stop the Avada Kedavra, countering it with another spell, as they dueled against each other.

This was because Severus had learned this ability from Rosaria. In their first encounter, she had managed to clash head-on with his Avada Kedavra, destroying a large portion of the black market beside Diagon Alley.

The Killing Curse was considered unstoppable—until Rosaria had discovered a way to counter it and taught it to Severus as part of her spells.

In any case, the two spells clashed until they exploded, sending lightning and death energy in all directions, with the echo of thunder roaring through the sky.

Voldemort was still shocked, but he couldn't afford to be surprised by anything else that came from Severus, and he immediately dove downward, with Severus following him, a black cloud and a lightning bolt racing toward London.

At this moment, a spell battle quickly began mid-air, as one launched blasts at the other, both dodging each other's attacks, getting closer and closer to London with every second.

It didn't take long before people on the ground noticed something strange in the sky that night. Even with Voldemort transformed into a black cloud camouflaged by darkness, the spells he was firing from his wand lit up brightly in the night sky.

Severus, with his body traveling as lightning, was highly visible—especially with his wand firing spells at the Dark Lord. They kept advancing, and Voldemort clearly looked desperate, searching for any fireplace where he could use Floo Powder to survive.

That night, the wizarding world would witness the defeat of one of the Dark Lords, as Severus held total advantage. After all, he was much faster with lightning. But his plan was to secure a decisive, undeniable victory against the dark lord before the entire wizarding world of Britain.

That's why Voldemort was heading exactly where Severus wanted him to go—practically being toyed with by the first Dark Lord.
