Staring at the emptiness out the window, Kiyomi hadn't been able to sleep.
Her mind wandered to her sister, who was in the same realm as her. She worried for her. For what had driven her to that point.
Granted, she knew there was never going to be an excuse good enough to explain why Elif had crossed over like that, but it was one that she hoped would eventually make sense.
Because it had to.
There was no other way around this.
And yet a part of her haunted her in ways that she couldn't.
The friendship that had once been sacred had now been marred by Liu Kuangxin and her antics. The life they had lived ever so peacefully was nothing like what it had once been. It was as if everything had paused, and there was no resumption button.
Defeatedly, she turned to look at Sakura on the bed. She knew her Erasthai was not sleeping. Sakura never got to sleep when Kiyomi was not beside her. It was both a curse and a blessing.
