"What are you–" a male voice said when the portal closed, and through it came Kiyomi Kimura, looking terrified and heartbroken as fuck. She looked terrible, and as he looked at her, he could tell that something was wrong.
"I didn't know where else to go," Kiyomi said, her heart in her hands as she tried so hard to fight her tears. She was scared of so many things, and he was the only person left that she could turn to.
At least at this moment.
"Oh, Kiki," he said as he pulled her into a hug so warm that Kiyomi's defenses crumbled in an instant, leaving her bare for him to see through her like a favorite book he hadn't been able to understand for a while.
And she sobbed like a baby in his arms.
He was her safe space here, and she felt like she was home, even if it wasn't in the way that she had wanted their reunion to be. This was a risk that had pulled all the dam stops in her life.
