"Well damn. You look like you've been dead for a thousand years," Otaru snickered, taking in the sight of his trusted friend. The woman looked like she had survived a thousand and one horror phases, and there was more for her still.
Her hair was disheveled.
Her lips were chapped.
Her face was pale.
Her body looked like she'd been in a marathon with the dead. Her clothes were nothing like the gown she always wore, and gods, did she stink so badly for a woman who always demanded grace and sanity in her courtroom.
Now she was just... Something else.
Or maybe, someone else.
She looked worse than they all looked, yet they had the worst of days out there. But was it enough, though, even as the councilmen took in the sight of their queen?
