Chapter 91 - The Machine and the Cyborg

Kibe walked down the pathway towards the auditorium when suddenly he heard rushing feet towards him. His eyes turned to the right quickly to see Junna right in his face. She and Kibe continued to look at one another, Kibe for a brief moment, looked towards the clock in the hallway. He noticed the time was passing period, but it was just a few minutes afterwards, which meant not everyone was out and about just yet. She had calculated this interaction, to catch him when he was alone and without people. The only question now was-

"What does she want?" Kibe thought.

"You.Me, the auditorium roof. Meet me there in 5 minutes. Don't be late." Junna said as she then rushed away just at the exact moment students and other faculty bodies began to flood the halls. Kibe's attention still in the direction that Junna went. "Is this an assassination? Could she be plotting to kill me in order to secure Bato's place? No. I never took her for the brutish and quick-to-action type. Seems too close to a movie cliche." Kibe thought as he then opened his phone and looked to see about any messages or calls.

To which he had none. He sighed, almost like he was hoping he'd have an excuse not to go. Yet, he went anyway. He'd soon arrive at the roof of the auditorium, where he'd see Junna waiting for him a few feet away from the door. Her back turned away from him. Kibe closed the door behind him and then placed his hands in his pockets.

"I'm here." Kibe said.

"So you are." Junna said as she turned her head towards Kibe, Kibe then would notice from the corner of his eye, a small shadow beginning to form underneath him. "Clever" He thought. He'd then side-step out of the way as a roof ventilation pipe would come crashing down and landing on the roof with a loud thud.

"Well, that was noisy." Kibe said, "Doesn't matter. Thanks to passing period; people won't suspect the noise over themselves." Junna explained.

"To be fair, if I were you, which I'm not, I would have tossed it at least 100ft in the air. Especially if I'm trying to kill my foe." Kibe said.

"Chitchat won't save you machine." Junna said, "I'm not looking for salvation, you should know me better than that." Kibe said.

"Who in the world would ever know a machine well? The only thing to know is how well it does it's job and, where the off switch is." Junna replied. Kibe simply raised his eyebrows as he looked out to the rest of the school and then looked out back to Junna.

"So, mind ceasing my suspense and getting on with the part where you explain to me, why I'm here?" Kibe asked.

"Isn't it obvious? You ripped off my arm when we were children. Now, I'm going to get my revenge." Junna said, "Seems odd for a Pale Palace student to want something so trivial." Kibe said. Junna just smirked as she looked away for a moment and then looked back to Kibe.

"Don't claim to know better. You'll be surprised to know, that not all students of the pale palace, come out talking like a human thesaurus with a degree in public speaking." Junna said.

"That was a lot." Kibe said, "So are you." Junna replied to which Kibe just shrugged. He'd then lower his shoulders and focus his thoughts and reasonings on her. This couldn't truly be her desire could it? To risk it all just for some petty vendetta.

"You'd truly risk all of this, what Bato has planned, just to get back at me." Kibe said

"I don't give a shit about what Bato wants, he has my fists, but he doesn't control what or who they hit." Junna said, "I can see that now." Kibe said.

"Now then, are you ready to die Machine of Man?" Junna asked as she got in a fighting position. "Not quite, I'd like to ask a few questions first before we begin." Kibe said. Junna simply chuckled, putting her hands down for a moment and shaking her head.

"What in the hell makes you think your in a position to make any demands or ask me questions?" Junna asked, "Well lets see. You may have me bested in the strength category when comparing our capabilities, but I'm 69% sure I'm more durable than you and I'm 99% sure I'm faster than you. Which means, I can leave whenever I want.

Sure, you'll of course see me again. But I wish you the best of luck in catching me alone again like you did today. You were brought here by Bato, because I was trouble. You don't want to see how far that extends to personal matters." Kibe said, Junna took a moment to think. She knew Kibe was watching her every eye movement and twitch. Seeing the gears turn in her head without really needing to see it. Kibe was reading her, Junna knew that she was pegged from the start.

This meeting, even though she had the surprise advantage at the start, Kibe somehow managed to spin it around so that he once again was the main benefactor. Junna sneered at this realization.

"Ask your questions then." Junna said.

"First question, How many of you are there in this Japan?" Kibe asked

"Enough." Junna answered, "Thats not an answer." Kibe replied.

"A number." Kibe said. "....Five." Junna said.

Kibe would look to the side for a moment "Could it be there is someone I missed? No, there is always the possibility that another could have arrived after them." Kibe thought.

"Thinking about who it could be huh? Could be a friend, or even someone you passed through the halls of the school." Junna said as she crossed her arms. "Attempting to goat me into overanalyzing my environment huh? Sorry that won't work. I already know just about everyone in this school." Kibe said.

"Wha-"

"Mmmm, well those that I pay attention to." Kibe said, "Theres no way you could just casually just know who and who isn't new to this school." Junna said.

"It is." Kibe said as he got his phone out and showed Junna the camera feed of the school. "Y-You have the school's camera feed...On your phone!?" Junna asked with confusion and frustration.

"Yea, though they attempted to change things prior. I had to do a lot of background wiring and sabotaging in order to keep the cameras." Kibe said.

"W-Why do you-" however that is when Kibe would type in a date into the phone and he'd then turn it back around to show Junna a scene of her at the school weight room doing jumping jacks. Junna's eyes focused on it. "Everyday, at 10Am, there you are. Working out. I don't know why you bother with it-"

"Shut your mouth." Junna said, even though it was stern, her face remained calm for the time.

"You have a augmented body. You're already at the pinnacle of power, there's no need for you to do anything." Kibe said, "I told you-" Junna would rush towards Kibe and grab his collar pulling him close. Yet in that moment Kibe would notice that one of the doors of the building across from them was open.

"Someone is here." Kibe thought, and just in that moment as he heard the rooftop door open, he'd pull Junna in closer and press his body against hers. Both of them now looking like they were hugging one another. The students who were coming up would look over and see them.

"Oh! Sorry!" said the students as they then walked away, leaving the door open. Kibe looked to them and watched them leave before letting go of Junna who pushed him away a few inches.

"Was just trying to save your skin." He said, "More like save yourself." Junna replied quickly. Kibe just raised an eyebrow and looked away.

"You know thats all that matters to, what happens to Nori Kibe, what happens to the Machine. How could you, the one who ruined the education of thousands and is responsible the death of so many. How could you even begin, to think or treat someone else, better than you do yourself." Junna said.

Kibe didn't say anything, he just stared at Junna and looked at the small glimmers on her prosthetics. "Second question." Kibe said, Junna would gesture for him to ask it.

"Tell me how far you are willing to go, to see me?" Kibe asked to which Junna would simply chuckle.

"Something humorous about that?" Kibe asked, "You don't get it do you? You're just a stepping stone, a piece in this play that Bato is stagging. Once your out of the way it'll only make his selling of it that much sweeter." Junna said.

"And what about you? Don't you get a reward out of this?" Kibe asked.

"The only thing I need is to see your head removed from your neck." Junna said, "Crimson." Kibe thought as he then tapped the tip of his foot against the ground and then looked to Junna one last time.

"Now then, for the final question. What is it that you want?" Kibe asked. "You already asked that question." Junna replied.

"No, I asked you what your reward was out of this, a reward isn't something you want, its something you get. Maybe it can be what you want, but I won't be sure till you tell me Junna." Kibe said.

"Don't toy with me Nori, I won't become your plaything." Junna said, "I'm not attempting to play with you, just asking a legitimate question was all." Kibe answered. Junna hesitated on what to say, her eyes briefly going to her arms before looking to Kibe.

"My...arms." Junna said.

"...I'm sorry." Kibe replied.

"Don't start with the apology bullshit, its too late for any of that now! Now, are you ready?" Junna asked as she began to get ready to charge towards him. Kibe sighed as he then got ready himself.

"I can't allow her to get a hit in, otherwise I'll be out for the count." Kibe thought as he then would see Junna sprint right towards him and reel her arm back, the battle now beginning.
