Chapter 54 - Blood Soaked Serpent

[You have slain—]

[Your soul grows stronger]

The voice of the Spell rang through Isaac's mind.

It had been a month since he had been brought to Antarctica.

Within that span of time, he had grown used to his new abilities.

He had also learned new ways to use some of his abilities.

But that was not the end of it either.

Isaac had been slowly but thoroughly learning Weaving.

Looking at different Memories and using his Flaw, he had slowly begun to build the foundations of his sorcery.

And just like that, he created his first Memory.

Name: Slice & Dice.

Memory Rank: Ascended.

Memory Tier: V.

Memory Type: Weapon.

Memory Enchantments: [Strong], [Sharp], [Swing], [Instant], [Invisible].

Each enchantment was quite straightforward.

The first one gave the blade enhanced durability.

The second one increased its sharpness.

The third one was the one Isaac was most proud of or as proud of, and he could be due to his Innate Ability.

It allowed the blade to absorb the inertia of swings before he was able to let it out.

The fourth enchantment allowed the blade to appear instantaneously without the need for the long wait.

And the fifth one simply made the blade invisible.

Isaac was extremely happy with his creation.

[Your Memory has been destroyed]

That's why when the Spells whisper came to him nearly giving him a heart attack.

A blade he had so thoroughly crafted had been destroyed by a single vile serpent.

And that disgusting abominable serpent was still attacking him even now.

'What the hell is this thing'.

The creature was quite strange in fact.

It was entirely pale and scaleless.

It seemed to be able to dig through the snow with incredible ease.

But worst of all was the ability to excrete a blood-like liquid that it could control.

The serpent was able to easily harden the liquid, not only that, but the liquid also contained an acidic quality.

Isaac immediately jumped back, dodging the blood-red spikes that emerged from the snow.

A new weapon had already manifested within his hand.

It was a spear.

The spear was white and colored, but the blade itself on the edge of the spear was a deep blue.

The spear was also quite beautiful as I look crystal like theme to it.

[Crystal Ice] was the name of the Memory.

It was of the Ascended Rank and was of the second Tier.

Its two enchantments each reflected the name beautifully.

The first enchantment was crystallization.

This allowed Isaac to crystallize anything that came into contact with the blade of the spear.

The second enchantment allowed for any cut dealt by the spear to be infected with cold.

Isaac landed on the frost-laden field as his black hair was swung by the swirling snow.

His grey eyes sharpened with resolve as he gripped his spear.

The ground beneath him was slick with newly fallen snow.

From the blizzard emerged the Blood Soaked Serpent as Isaac had dubbed it.

Its translucent, blood-like excretion dripped lazily from its body, shimmering crimson in the light.

The serpent exuded a haunting sickly silence before lunging forward.

Its jaws are snapping with demented intensity.

Isaac reacted instantly as he thrusted his spear forward.

The icy tip pierced towards the serpent's side releasing a burst of frost.

The serpent hissed as ice and crystals rapidly formed on its flesh.

With a swift flick of its body, the serpent excreted a viscous, blood-like liquid that hardened instantly into jagged spikes, aiming to impale Isaac.

Isaac dodged sideways.

The hardened blood spikes graze past him.

He countered with a thrust of his spear.

His aim was the serpent's open mouth.

His weapon connected, unleashing a bitter chill that froze the serpent's tissue and slowly its movements.

But then the serpent's body shuddered and seemed to melt into a puddle of blood-like liquid.

It began to seep into the snow vanishing beneath the surface.

Moments later, the serpent remerged beneath Isaac, piercing upward from below with a surge of semi-hardened blood tendrils designed to entangle him.

Isaac spun around evading its grasp.

Isaac focused channeling his cold into a final, decisive strike.

He thrust his spear into the blood-soaked snow, releasing a massive blast of frost that surged through the ground, causing the blood liquid to freeze solid.

The serpent was trapped by its own liquid and convulsed as the ice spread across its body rendering it nearly motionless.

Taking that opportunity, Isaac lunged forward.

Isaac lowered his spear and then pierced it right through the serpent's head.

[You have slain a Fallen Devil, Child of Wounds]

[You have received a Memory]

The Spell whispered in Isaac's ears.

'A memory huh'.

Isaac thought before pulling up the Ruins.

Name: Blood Soaked Tear.

Memory Rank: Ascended.

Memory Tier: IV.

Memory Type: Weapon.

Memory Enchantments: [Change], [Ascitic Blood], [Bleeding], [Blood Surge].

Isaac manifested the Memory.

A small storm of sparks danced around his arm as a small blood-red sphere manifested.

As Isaac grabbed the sphere, he felt a sudden pain draw through his palm and fingers.

Pulling back, his hand had grown red.

"So that's what the second enchantment does".

Isaac said, looking at his shadow in exasperation.

Turning his gaze back to the fallen Memory he quickly made a [Sacrifice] and picked it up once more.

Looking at it in confusion, Isaac, then thought of something.

Suddenly, the blood sphere changed becoming a katana.

It changed once more becoming a spear that resembled [Crystal Ice] only red.

"It seems I know what the first enchantment does".

Isaac spoke to his shadow he gained no response.

The first enchantment as shown allowed the Memory to take on different forms as long as its user could understand them.

The second enchantment made the Memory acidic for anyone even its user as Isaac found out.

The third one allowed anything he cut to continue bleeding as long as he fed essence to the enchantment.

The fourth one allowed him to use his own blood look how the serpent had hardened it and manipulated it.

It was quite the double edge Memory.

After absorbing the Soul Shards and dissecting the corpse taking a cup filled with its blood and some of his flesh and bones into his storage Memory his communicator went off.

Isaac looked down in confusion.

It was Wake of Ruin.

It was simply one message.

-Come back to the stronghold-.

Isaac stepped aside before turning around and began walking back to a strong quote.
