Chapter 883 - 882-Shattering

Everything was ready.

Renjiro activated the laboratory barriers, their energy patterns flaring to life as they sealed the room from the outside world. The walls shimmered with protective energy, the air growing still and heavy. Medical seals activated, their patterns designed to stabilise his body during the procedure. He placed the preserved Tri-Wheel pair and the preserved Six-Point pair into the array, their crimson irises catching the light as they settled into their designated positions.

He activated the Fourfold Ocular Array.

Everything worked exactly as intended. Every previous chapter of preparation paid off in a cascade of perfect synchronisation. The nested seals activated in sequence: Chakra Suppression first, establishing acceptance between the eyes and the array. Its energy flowed through the preserved tissues, harmonising their signatures with his own. Then Microscopic Regeneration, repairing any damage caused by the transplantation, its healing light tracing through the delicate structures of the eyes. Then Optic Regulation, controlling the flow of chakra into the eyes, maintaining the pressure at safe levels. The Emergency Shutdown remained on standby, waiting for the signal that would never come.

His internal chakra tattoos activated, their patterns glowing as they integrated with the array's energy. The seals embedded in his chakra network flared to life, their functions synchronising with the external array. The Adamantine Chains gently wrapped around his optic nerves, supporting them without constricting, guiding without suppressing. The chains were delicate now—tiny golden threads that reinforced his natural chakra pathways, preventing collapse under the pressure of the transformation.

Spiritual synchronisation began. The chakra signatures of the four Mangekyō harmonised with each other, their energy patterns flowing together like rivers merging into a single current. The Tri-Wheel and Six-Point chakras intertwined, their identities no longer competing, but cooperating.

The Fourfold Array glowed perfectly, its geometry resonating with the power of the eyes it contained. The seals pulsed in rhythm, their energy flowing through the intricate patterns of the array, channeling power toward the center.

It works, Renjiro thought, his internal voice carrying the weight of months of effort. For the first time, every system functions simultaneously. Every stage of preparation has paid off.

He allowed himself a moment of cautious hope. The surgery was proceeding exactly as planned.

The four Mangekyō began resonating. Chakra spirals formed within the array, their energy patterns intertwining like the threads of a tapestry, each one distinct yet harmonious. Identical pulses radiated from each eye, their rhythms synchronising, their rotations aligning. The patterns in the eyes began to glow, their tomoe shifting and merging, their designs evolving before his eyes.

The laboratory began shaking. The walls vibrated, the shelves rattled, the instruments on the workbench trembled. Chakra density rose, the air becoming thick, heavy, almost suffocating. The barriers strained against the pressure, their energy patterns flickering as they struggled to contain the power being released.

It's actually happening, he thought, his internal voice carrying the weight of years of effort. The fusion is beginning. The Eternal Mangekyō is being born.

The chakra spirals intensified, their energy surging through the array. The seals glowed brighter, their patterns burning with power. The chains tightened, their support becoming more intense as the chakra flow increased. The optic nerves burned, their delicate tissues straining against the energy surging through them.

The escalation was gradual at first, then accelerated with terrifying speed. Chakra pressure increased, the air growing heavier with every passing second. The seals glowed brighter, their energy patterns intensifying as they channelled power through the array. The chains tightened, their support becoming more intense as the chakra flow increased. The optic nerves burned, their delicate tissues straining against the energy surging through them.

Renjiro began bleeding.

First from his nose—a slow trickle that traced down his upper lip, warm and metallic, the taste of copper filling his mouth. Then from his ears, the blood pooling in the hollows of his ears before dripping onto his shoulders, staining his collar with dark red. Then from his tear ducts, the fluid mixing with blood, tracing crimson trails down his cheeks, mingling with the sweat that beaded on his forehead. Then from his eyes themselves, the pressure building, the delicate tissues straining against the power they were being forced to contain.

Hold together, he thought, his internal voice a desperate whisper. Just hold together. The system can handle this. I can handle this.

The Adamantine Chains strained, their support barely holding. The regeneration seals struggled, their repairs unable to keep pace with the damage. Everything was barely holding, teetering on the edge of catastrophic failure.

His heartbeat became irregular, skipping beats, stuttering. His vision flickered, the world growing dim at the edges. His muscles spasmed, his body convulsing against the power surging through it. His chakra coils overheated, their energy becoming unstable, threatening to rupture.

Hold together. Hold together. Hold—

Without warning, one preserved Mangekyō cracked.

The sound was sharp, unmistakable—a fracture spreading across the crimson surface of the eye, its pattern splintering like ice breaking on a winter pond. The crack spread slowly at first, then accelerated, the lines branching and intersecting until the entire surface of the eye was covered in a web of fractures.

Silence.

Then it shattered. The Mangekyō exploded into fragments, its chakra released in a violent burst that sent energy rippling through the array. The fragments scattered across the sealing platform, their crimson surfaces catching the dim light, their power dissipating into the air.

Renjiro froze.

Then the second eye. Shattered. The crack appeared without warning, spreading across its surface, and then it was gone—scattered fragments, released energy, fading power.

The third. Shattered.

The fourth. Shattered.

Every preserved Mangekyō exploded into fragments, their remains scattered across the sealing platform, their power released in a wave of chaotic energy that filled the laboratory with blinding light.

He believed he had failed. The surgery had failed. Months of preparation, years of research, countless hours of work—all of it had been destroyed in seconds. His hands reached instinctively toward the fragments, his mind struggling to process what had just happened.

Impossible, he thought, his internal voice shaking. The surgery failed. Everything I built—all the work, all the preparation—it's all gone.

He felt the weight of failure pressing down on him, the crushing realisation that every sacrifice had been for nothing. The regeneration, the research, the seals, the chains—all of it had been leading to this moment, and this moment had been destroyed.

Then he sensed something strange.

The chakra didn't disappear.

Instead of dissipating into nothing, the energy released by the shattered eyes began to flow—golden-red streams, blue spiritual currents, Yin chakra—all of it moving toward the centre of the Fourfold Array. Not toward the eyes. Toward the array itself. Then into Renjiro himself.

Not physically. Spiritually.

The laboratory erupted with chakra, its energy filling every corner of the room, pressing against the barriers, shaking the walls. The light was blinding, the heat intense, the pressure overwhelming. Renjiro's body convulsed as the chakra flowed into him, its power integrating with his own, merging with his chakra network, becoming part of his very being.

What's happening? he thought, his internal voice desperate. The eyes are gone. The surgery failed. Why is the chakra—

The incoming chakra overloaded him.

His own eyes began cracking internally; retinal fractures spreading across his vision, optic nerves rupturing, blood pooling in the depths of his eyes. The pain was excruciating, his body convulsing against the force of the transformation. He could feel his chakra network expanding, the alien energy integrating with his own, rewriting the very structure of his being.

Then his Sharingan deactivated. The tomoe vanished, the Mangekyō vanished, the crimson glow fading from his eyes. His eyes became ordinary, their power seemingly gone. For a brief moment, he could see—the laboratory, the fragments of the shattered eyes, the fading glow of the seals.

Then even that disappeared—white clouded blindness, his vision fading into nothing. The world went dark, the light gone, the colours fading. He was blind. Completely and utterly blind.
