Chapter 268 - Hard fight

The spot I hit the thing was scorched and burnt but it was such a small area the monster didn't even seem to register it. As I shot through the air like a rocket the beast swung that massive club at me as if swatting a fly. The sheer force and speed of each swing was like hurricane force wind as the air quaked and rioted. Eventually though I took a chance and blasted the monster with my flames at full blast earning a roar of pain as the hellish flames scorched the beast's chest.-

The flames were soon pushed back as frost magic exploded from the beast. The shockwave sent me flipping through the air and smashing into the wall of the floor hard enough to crater the impact site. I coughed out blood and bits of my insides that had been pressurized and torn. By comparison the monster was only suffering severe burns across it's front side. This made my mind sharpen as I finally pegged how strong the thing was. Peak level seven, borderline eight even. That was to say it was a tad stronger than I was.-

At that point however it was also almost at the end of the mortal spectrum and more towards the divine one. It should be remembered that according to Hestia, Freya and Hephaestus the weakest creatures roaming the divine realm were roughly what we would consider level eights. This thing was right at the edge of being at that point so even my true hellfire struggled to burn it. It also didn't help that it could release frost magic from anywhere on it's body to push the flames off even if they got a hold on it.-

Thankfully however the thing didn't share the Goliath and Hundred hands giant's regenerative ability so whittling it down with injuries was a viable method to killing it. I fixed my body with a pulse of cursed energy before kicking off the wall and blasting my flames behind me at full power to zip across the air as fast as I could. The beast raised it's arms in front of it's face as I slammed into them at mach three. The impact broke my body but also heavily damaged the forearm of the beast that I hit. Snapped it's bone there in fact. -

Unlike me who fixed my body with a thought though the monster screamed in pain and bitch slapped me across the floor into a different wall. I once more fixed myself and charged in headfirst. The thing was learning however and waited till I couldn't back out of my reckless charge to raise it's club into my path. I forced as much flames in front of me as possible before I impacted the club reducing the impact to manageable levels. I still cracked a few bones but that level of damage was easily fixable for me.-

The monster didn't wait though and slammed the club with me on it into the ground creating a massive crater. I felt a shudder pass through me however as I had barely gotten out of the way with only a few milliseconds to spare. I changed tactics to zipping around the beast throwing fireballs at it at this point. From an outside perspective it may have even been comical to watch as I likely looked like a fly buzzing about throwing off tiny sparks at the thing that was swatting at me in anger and annoyance. Still the beast adapted just as quickly and cloaked itself in a layer of misty frost that I had to work extra hard to break through with my flames.-

At some point I had to switch to using my flames strictly for mobility while using beams of erasure to damage the thing but that was basically trying to kill it with papercuts. More effective than flames though as the thing had no counter for erasure since it ignored physical defenses. It's purple blood fell in gallons on the snow from it's many small and large wounds over the next three hours. It was slowing though as it's body grew lethargic from the blood loss.-

My own cursed energy wasn't doing too hot either after using so much and I even had to briefly disengage to drink a couple potions. We were both battered and weary by this point as neither of us held back on the other. The frost coming from the beast had long since evolved into a swirling hurricane of ice shards and snow roaring across the floor that had been beating me down repeatedly. I had almost forgotten what it was like not to be in pain from the injuries never stopping as I had to take the storms force head on to keep the pressure up.-

Fleeing never crossed my mind however as this was precisely the sort of challenge I relished. It was too large for my domain to be all that effective and I had real risk of death here. Finally however the monster faltered as it's body finally couldn't keep up the pressure under so much blood loss. It fell to one knee while it's frost magic stalled for but a moment. My eyes lit up as I saw the chance. This opening I exploited by ignoring all defense and accelerating at top speed to the back of it's head.-

I risked it all and coated my entire body in a sharp layer of erasure as I dove headfirst into it's neck and through it's vertebrae before shooting out the other side. The beasts eyes widened and it's mouth gaped but it's nervous system had been severed so it's body was already falling limp. The light began to fade from it's eyes as it finally died and victory was mine.-

"You were good mate, but i'm the best." I said with a sigh as I sagged visibly from exhaustion.
