This was NOT beta read.
I experimented a bit with the style of this chapter, I'm think of fusing a style with the style that I write this story in.
________
"Do you have everything packed?" Riveria asked me.
"Yeah, it's not like I need to pack much, I still have clothes over there." I replied finishing zipping my suitcase.
"Did that boy named Bell give you anything to take back there?" She questioned.
"Nah, he just told me to give his grandfather a message."
Since I was heading back to the village I'd asked Bell if he wanted to send anything back to his "grandfather". He didn't have anything to send back physically so he simply said to deliver a message. The message itself wasn't anything too grand, just that he was doing well as an Adventurer and is having fun.
Picking up the suitcase I turned to look at her as she stood at the doorway.
"Have you already tested the new spell?" I asked. The first spell I decided to edit with magic editing, unfortunately it wasn't anything too grand, but it is a immensely useful spell.
"I have, we've already transported most of our supplies for tomorrow to the 18 floor, the dungeon doesn't seem to be reacting to it. This spell is beyond anything I ever expected." She answered with a complicated expression.
Humming I walked past her and into the hallway and she followed behind me "We are a exploration familia and one of the main issues is transporting supplies so a teleportation spell or one that can get from point a to b instantly is probably better than any attacking spell I could come up with."
The spell I gave her was the gate spell from the smartphone anime. It can make a portal to anywhere the user has seen before, however, the portal itself was pretty small so I edited so That the user can increase or decrease the size, of course increasing the size costs more mana but it's really not by much.
I had some worries the dungeon would react badly to it but it seems everything will be mostly fine.
Making our way down the stairs we were met with a mostly empty…Everything. Only a few people walking around or just chilling. Nobody I knew.
"Did everyone decide to head there already?" I asked, seriously why was nobody around.
"Most yes, since it's been a while since our last expedition they decided to get used to camping again." Riveria answered.
"Seriously? There's still 4 full days before the expedition, camping for that amount of time while not doing anything seems like a good way to get annoyed with it while the expedition is actually going on."
"They'll be lightly fighting monsters so they won't be doing absolutely nothing." She responded again.
Walking out the door and into the back courtyard, aka the training field, we were met with the sight of Loki and another person Standing next to a dragon. A very fluffy dragon.
"It's kind of cute." I said as we got closer, its scales were super smooth, you could barely tell they are scales by appearance, it could basically called skin based on its appearance.
"HaHaHa! I'm glad you agree little girl! He is indeed the cutest!" The man with the elephant mask said. Of course, it's Ganesha.
"Gauuu!" The Dragon chimed at the compliment.
"This is what we prepared for your journey home, it's a two day journey regularly but with this guy it'll be an hour at most." Loki explained "it's costing way more than it should though." She muttered giving Ganesha a death glare. Though her eyes remained closed, not sure how that works but I can just tell she's glaring.
"Haha! It's just a time of need right now, supply and demand as they say!" Ganesha replied back, completely unbothered by Loki's gaze.
"Tch, whatever. The damn thing will only be gone for two hours or so, barely worth the 400k Valis price tag." Loki muttered.
Ganesha chose not to comment on that.
Riveria tapped me on the shoulder grabbing my attention "Since you've never flown on one of these before I'll be the one managing it. I'll fly you over then fly back, I'll come back to get you tomorrow morning."
"Alrighty." I replied with a nod, it's a lot simpler this way anyway.
"Hmm?" Ganesha hummed "Only purchase scheduled was this one. How will you be making it back?"
"Ganesha, remember what I said." Loki instantly fired, one of her eyes slightly opening. "Mind your business."
The mans smile dropped slightly but was reignited "I surely will Loki."
'Ha, well that's an interesting interaction. Should I try and spice it up..?'
'…Nah, looks too serious.' From the looks of it, Loki is really stressed about others finding out about all this too early.
'It's inevitable, honestly. Nothings been noticed due to the fact the Loki familia operates deeper than most adventurers will ever make it in their lifetimes. However, one big fight where others are nearby and…'
Shaking my head I let out a small huff 'It's better it happens later anyways. Once I've got more things set up for us.'
____
*Flap! Flap! Flap!
With the slow beat of the dragons wings we slowly set down on the ground just outside the village. Out of sight of course, not trying to cause a commotion.
I clipping my suitcase I grabbed it by the handle and jumped down off the dragon.
"You gating back or flying back to Orario?" I asked setting my clothes and hair right. The wind was hellish.
"I'll be flying back. It's been a while since I've done this." Riveria replied
"Alright, see you tomorrow then. Make nothing crazy happens in the day I'm gone." I said with a nod.
Turning around I began walking onto the path to the village.
"I'm sure nothing will happen." Riveria said in a matter of fact tone.
Pausing in my steps, I looked back at her "You realized you just jinxed it right?"
"…" she didn't reply and simply pulled the dragons reins to let him know she's ready to fly again.
His wings flapped and with a kicked they were off the ground.
Waving as she took off I walked onto the walkway into the village.
Making my way through the gates I looked around, nostalgia hitting me a little. It's only been a week so of course nothings changed but for whatever reason it just feels so weird.
'That's the bakery I'd followed Bell and Zeus to.' I thought reminiscing about how this all started.
Honestly, if I didn't end up catching a glance at him it would've taken quite a bit longer before I went to Orario. It was quite the stroke of luck.
Grinning I take off into a run, weaving through the village and its residents like they weren't even there. Cutting through gaps between houses, and other buildings I eventually come upon a single house that I will never forget, my home.
Staring at it for a while I kind of just stood there.
It's the same but it's also so different, this feeling is so strange.
Walking to the door I first checked the handle, of course it was locked. Reaching into the side pocket of my suitcase I pulled out a silver key.
Placing it into the keyhole I twist to the right, unlocking the door. Pulling the key free and placing it in my pocket I slowly open the door and was met with my dad sitting in the chair down the hall from the doorway with a sword in his lap.
His head was faced down and his hands slowly drifted across the surface of the sword.
"I don't know who you are, but you've chosen the wrong house, so early in the day, you must be confident."
Was this man aura farming right now?
.
.
.
Was my dad aura farming thinking he was getting robbed?
.
.
.
"…Dad, what in the hell are you doing."
.
.
.
"Huh?" He said, finally looking up. His eyes widened as he looked at me.
"I should hit you for whatever the hell you were just doing." I said Fully walking into the house and closing the door behind me.
"I told you so." My moms voice came from out of sight.
Walking down the hall and into the living room I see her sipping tea slowly.
"How was I supposed to know it would be Camellia!" Dad said grabbing the sheathe for his sword and re-sheathing it.
"Common sense." I replied, placing my suitcase down I plopped down on the couch and smiled a big smile, teeth and all. "The door was clearly opened with a key."
"Exactly."
Dads face scrunched up in realization. But then his shoulders slumped in defeat.
He sat down next to me and my moms voice came shuffled over to me as well.
"We have a lot to talked about, but first." Mom said then her arms wrapping me in a hug. Dad followed after her.
I grabbed their arms and pressed into them, this right here. This is my family.
____
"So, how did everything go?" Mom asked.
I've been contemplating how to explain the whole situation to them, I think I know how I'll do it.
"Everything went well, extremely well actually. I was actually accepted into a familia on the first day I was there." I explained
"You joined a familia? I thought you were just going to get help from a God?!" Dad asked clearly worried.
"Not really how it works dad, none of the Gods have their divinities down here. Outside of some advice there's not much they can really do. No amount of advice, even from a God could really help me." That's what I was expecting from him of course, so I already had that answer prepared.
"Which familia was it?" Mom asked.
Smiling I puffed up my chest "The largest and second strongest of course, The Loki familia."
.
.
.
Hands grabbed my shoulder then I began to be shaken vigorously "HUUUUUUH!?!?" Dad shouted in pure unfiltered shock.
Wiping away the tea that had spilled from her mouth and cup Mom said "Loki as in the Goddess Loki?"
"Of course, I don't think she shares a name with any other Deity in Orario." I don't think any Gods shares a name, especially none in Orario. Names meant quite a lot after all.
Dad let go of my shoulders and placed his hands on his face stress evident.
"What's got your panties in a twist?" I asked.
"…I'm worried about what a Goddess like that could possibly want in return." He said concerned.
"We may be decently wealthy but it's nothing in comparison to what a familia like that makes probably in just a day." Mom added.
Giggling a bit I couldn't help but smile "You don't have to worry about all that, she doesn't want anything, just me is far more valuable than anything else possible. My abilities were much greater than we initially thought." Reaching over to my suitcase I opened it slightly and pulled out my status page.
"Huh?"
"There's more than that strange energy?"
Nodding I raised a hand, my crimson destruction manifested instantly into a fiery form.
"I've become much better at controlling the energy, I can attack, defend, and maneuver it however I want." To showcase I shape the destruction into a sword, a shield, then in string that I made surround the entire room.
"I can make it so it doesn't destroy things on contact by lowering its output, I can really do whatever I want with it now."
I shifted the destruction into countless butterfly's that flew across the room before slowly dissolving away.
"Woah"
"It's very beautiful dear. What was the other thing?"
Grabbing the paper again I handed it over to my Mom "It would be easier if you just read it yourself." I shifted a bit so dad could read it too.
They read in silence for until I heard a simultaneous "What the f*ck?"
Yeah, that's the reaction most would have.
"Yeah, that's how everyone else reacted basically." I said with a grin.
"This…this is insane. I don't know that much but creating and granting magic isn't something one can just do." Mom said in amazement.
"I've heard a lot of stories but nothing like this."
"Mhm." I voiced alongside them "When I Obtained the falna I also got that skill. I'm able to create new kinds of magic whenever I want and grant them to people. I Can do few more things but that's the gist of it."
Standing up I stood before them.
"You guys can probably guess what something like this means."
"…There's no way a familia would let you go with something like this in your hands."
"A war between familias could start because of this skill."
Nodding I confirmed both answers, "It's one of Goddess Loki's concerns at the moment. For now, we don't think it's been noticed but it's kind of hard to be sure."
A frown was on Moms face "Camellia… one of our hopes was that we could simply get the deity to help then you could return to us, this… this isn't possible for us. How are you even here?" Her hands were gripping the sofa so hard she was about to rip it.
"Haha" laughing a little I shake my head "That's something I wondered a bit myself but ultimately the answer is something I can provide. I told her I needed to come back here and she let me."
My smile faded then I continued "To be honest, she herself would probably want me to stay here, if I'm in Orario, no matter what my ability will eventually be found out. If I'm here they could just pop by whenever new spells are needed or something."
Both there eyes widen slightly clearly excited at that news.
"However, that's not what I want." I said, dispelling their excitement.
"What?"
"I want to be an adventurer, I want to delve into the dungeon, and I want to create even greater magic." Continuing I pointed at the status paper they still held "I actually already am, if you look, those are my stats as well. I've been registered and have gone into the dungeon already. I quite enjoy it."
This was the ultimate moment, how would they react?
They looked between each other then…Sighed.
"This isn't what we expected but this is a lot better than the other options." Dad said.
Nodding mom agreed "If you want to do it then that's good. We just weren't expecting you to want to. You never seemed like the type."
Thinking back, I can understand why they'd thought this. I was trying to replicate the average village girl style that I saw in a lot of fiction.
Nodding I smiled at them happily.
Coughing into his hand Dad asked "I've been wondering for a while now but what happened to your eyes and teeth?"
Mom swung in as well, this time asking the real important question "When do you plan to head back?"
"Well, for dads questions, they were both because of some interaction of my skill, just like when my eyes and hair changed." I answered, I hadn't even noticed the teeth until I looked into the mirror this morning.
Moving on to mom I pretend thought for a moment "I was just planing to stay for the day and night, before heading back. The familia is planning to head out to an expedition and all hands are needed."
"Just for today!?"
"Well, we have the entire day free."
We looked across each other and nodded, it's time to start some family bonding time.
________
Short chapter honestly, 400 words off my normal minimum but I wanted to release a chapter today but then I got busy so I couldn't really focus on just writing today.
The next one SHOULDN'T take as long, however, I can't make any promises unfortunately. I'm trying to find a way to write faster but honestly with so many ideas spinning in my head as of late it's hard to focus on the story. I don't want to post any more stories because I'd have to give them attention as well. So, the ideas just pop in a stay, it's really annoying.
Anyways, see ya'll in the next one.
