An hour has passed.
We dissected what had happened. Carlos had some knowledge he shared.
" .. you see, it's never been mentioned. All that time and barely any documented killing of a divine beasts and nothing about that .. t-the blood or the lust it cause. "
He awkwardly gulped, but we couldn't blame him.
Just the memory of the smell was enough to make our stomach rumble.
" I guess Alex just couldn't hold himself back .. after having to smell it first when Emet died. " Cintia theorised.
Demelza was unconvinced.
" He never once mentioned it. It was almost a year ago .. and not a word about it? "
" I wasn't there.. but I talked to him earlier ..
Lucian was changed on guard duty since Stuart graciously offered to let him rest. Manata refused to move until Zephyr arrived, so we had to take some food and drink out so at least he could eat something.
" .. he doesn't understand what had happened, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't craving it since all the way back then. It just .. he lost control. " he finished his cup.
" You going out? " asked Eli.
" Hmm .. big brother and Draykos probably have their hands full for a little while, at least. We probably spend the night. " he took his rapier and was ready to go.
" I'll stay with you for a while.. unless .. " Eli turned to me before going.
" Go .. I'll be okay. " I showed a weak smile.
As she left, I truly felt horrible. Carlos tried his best to calm us all reasonings that it affected everyone.. everyone but Zephyr and for some reason Draykos.
" .. So that guy. " Nifa started. " Stone skin guy .. wonder what makes him so special? "
No one had an answer. Nothing that was built up on proof on any kind.
" I'm ashamed of my behaviour.. if not for the utter and complete gap between our powers .. I might .. " Carlos trailed off there.
We all sort of felt the same .. if Zephyr wasn't who he was.. could we hold ourselves back?
" So Amarah took it pretty well, huh? " Demelza asked the Martell Boreas.
Cintia looked outside as she answered.
" She kind of had too.. I mean, what could she possibly do now? They have all but 3 men who aren't injured .. or dead. "
We heard some commotion outside and all headed towards the exit to see .. and apologies to someone who had to protect us from ourselves.
Except it was only Draykos with the other two he took with him.
They lead two wagons full of unconscious or currently in pain, badly injured men.
Once the wagons stopped, it was quickly surrounded by the villagers who were horrified seeing some of their loved ones in such a state.
Draykos turned to the two men looking out of breath who left soon, and he started searching towards the Inn direction. He stopped when he noticed the wagon Alexander currently stayed in.
" Sir Lucian.. I have a message from Leader Zephyr. " he stepped forward.
" Is he okay? " he asked.
" Did you leave him there alone? " Manata looked at the setting sun.
" Indeed. " Draykos nodded firmly. " Khmm .. the message is. ' If he hadn't lost his mind until now .. let his idiot brother out. ' " he couldn't help but smile, saying it.
Demelza took off towards the wagon and climbed inside only to come out with a shy and defeated looking husband of hers.
We each embraced the man who really needed some pick me up, but before I could ask about my husband, Draykos once again cleared his throat.
" Also .. because of what had happened today, Leader Zephyr decided to integrate Hori village into his own. I was asked to instruct you all to help with the villagers and their injuries. Everything must be done by tomorrow morning .. when we all leave. "
He said all that in the most serious way possible.
Amarah, just like most of her village, stood close by, and as much as I expected her to protest or her people to say something .. her firm nod was all Drakos received. The people looked .. relived if anything.
Once done, he turned to me.
" Lady Lylly.. your husband asked for you and your sister.. to take charge of the injuries he caused. I'm told your family has healers among them ..
He waited until both Eli and I nodded before continuing just as Carlos stepped up with the man close behind.
" Friend .. let us join you and help ..
" Unfortunately Sir Em .. Leader Zephyr needs all of you here. Helping with the relocation. " Draykos cut him off. " .. and if you excuse me. I need to head back. Leader Zephyr sliced the beast into smaller .. easy to transfer pieces. "
He left without looking back. He was already a great help to my husband. I made a quick mental note to thank him once this all ended.
He didn't come back .. but we had an idea why.
" He is afraid the corpse will simply disappear once left alone. " Carlos nodded firmly as a smile spread. " .. and he garbled up another village. What a rival to have. "
Carlos seemed to be back to his old self.
In fact, most of us looked better now they we knew what would happen. Lucian even had time to make some fun walking up to Alex.
" Tchtch .. Alexander .. You are lucky big brother loves you too much. " he tapped his shoulder, making the man laugh a little. " Not even .. your betrayal could change that. "
Then he poured some cold water on him. Alexander was ready to defend himself.
" Mordin .. I swear ..
" Alright, people. " Carlos stood between them, grabbed both their shoulders. " We have a job to do here .. unless you wanna betray him again? Hahaha!! "
Neither Alexander nor Lucian could hold back, and their laughter quickly filled the miserable square.
Talk about miserable..
" Eli .. I'm gonna heavily rely on you. Let's do what we can for .. our newest residents. " I nodded firmly as I pulled my hair together.
We shared a genuine smile before she gave out our orders.
" Okay .. let's see who needs urgent care and separate those whose injuries can wait. Nifa .. pay attention! " she clapped, looking very much like our mother doing so.
" I'm an artist dear .. and also ..
Cintia was quick to shut her up before she said something unnecessary that could upset a certain blue haired individual.
As we all started working, the sun fully set ..
I hope we can forget today by the next morning.. and hopefully, so does he.
