"Finally, a reaction."
Madara stood motionless, gazing up at the densely packed enemies descending from above.
Kaito clasped his hands together, and a translucent blue barrier materialized, shielding the group.
Golden beams rained down from the sky, exploding upon impact and causing the barrier's surface to ripple like disturbed water.
"Those are just puppets controlled by the Tenseigan," Kaito declared loudly. "The only remaining Moon ninja on the lunar surface is a single boy now."
"Boring." Madara immediately withdrew the overwhelming aura surging around him.
"Hmph, if it's just a boy," Izuna turned his head, "Sasuke, leave it to you."
"Understood!" Sasuke responded promptly.
"In that case, I'll withdraw the barrier. Everyone, be careful."
With that warning, Kaito dispelled the barrier.
The group scattered swiftly, leaving Sasuke alone on the battlefield.
"Susano'o!"
A half-bodied giant manifested, encasing Sasuke in its protective form.
Sasuke glanced upward at the swarm of puppets, bit his thumb, and performed the Summoning Jutsu.
"Caw! Caw! Caw!"
A chorus of rough caws echoed as a flock of pitch-black crows materialized behind him.
"Enter! Transformation Jutsu!" Sasuke rapidly formed hand seals.
"Got it, caw!"
The crows suddenly compressed together.
Poof!
A cloud of white smoke erupted, revealing a massive crow flapping its wings.
"Go!"
Dismissing the Susano'o, Sasuke leaped onto the crow's back.
"Caw!"
The crow took flight, evading the golden beams fired by the puppets.
"Suigetsu!"
The crow streaked toward Suigetsu's location. Hearing his name, Suigetsu immediately jumped high, landing perfectly on the crow's back.
"Ascend!"
"Caw!"
The crow weaved through the golden beams, carrying the two upward.
"Water Release: Water Gun Jutsu!"
Suigetsu extended his right hand like a pistol, firing condensed water bullets from his fingertips. One shot pierced straight through a flying puppet and the humanoid puppet riding it.
"Hahahahaha!"
He laughed wildly, now dual-wielding his water bullets with both hands.
"Twin Water Guns!"
Not to be outdone, Sasuke drew the katana from his waist. Thunder crackled as blue lightning enveloped the blade, then rapidly extended.
"Lightning Release: Chidori Sharp Spear!"
The electrified blade, now over ten meters long, slashed through multiple puppets in a single swing.
As Sasuke and Suigetsu soared through the sky on the crow, shattered puppets rained down. Soon, the once-overwhelming swarm was more than half cleared.
"Keep going!"
Under Sasuke's command, the crow shot straight toward the "sun." The two deflected the puppets' energy attacks with their jutsu, retaliating with even greater force.
Upon nearing the "sun," Sasuke swung his blade at its sealed surface.
Clang!
The impact reverberated, forcing Sasuke's arm back—yet the "sun" remained unscathed.
"Tch." Sasuke extinguished the lightning on his blade. "Suigetsu, take over defense! Crow, fall back!"
"Got it."
"Caw!"
Suigetsu activated Exploding Water Arm Jutsu, swelling his arm as he drew the Executioner's Blade. He spun the massive sword like a whirlwind, blocking the golden beams.
"Caw! Caw!"
The crow flapped its wings, retreating. Meanwhile, Sasuke's Mangekyō Sharingan spun, summoning an incomplete Susano'o—only its two massive arms manifested, drawing back a colossal bow.
"Kagutsuchi!"
Sasuke's eyes narrowed. Black flames erupted violently along the arrow nocked in the Susano'o's bow.
"Fire!"
The blazing black arrow shot forth, striking the golden "sun."
Crack!
A fissure split its surface. Before it could regenerate, the black flames of Amaterasu engulfed it.
"Hahahaha!" Suigetsu laughed maniacally, alternating between swinging his sword and firing water bullets.
On the ground, Kaito shielded his eyes as he observed the battle above.
"It seems the artificial sun can replenish its energy via the Tenseigan. Breaking through won't be easy."
"Tenseigan?" Izuna turned to him curiously.
"Mhm." Kaito explained, "Both you and Madara-sama have seen it—Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo's evolved Byakugan is called the Tenseigan. Thus, his descendants named the weapon they created by fusing Byakugan the same."
Neji couldn't hold back his question. "Uncle Kaito, can the Byakugan evolve like the Sharingan?"
"It can." Kaito nodded firmly.
"Then… how…?" Neji's voice trembled with barely contained excitement.
"If the Rinnegan is the ultimate evolution of the Uchiha's Sharingan, then the Tenseigan is the pinnacle of the Hyūga's Byakugan," Kaito elaborated.
The other three Hyūga—Hinata, Toka, and Ruka—listened intently.
"As for how to evolve the Byakugan into the Tenseigan…" Kaito met Neji's hopeful gaze but shook his head. "Given the genetic disparity between the Hyūga and the Ōtsutsuki, achieving this evolution is nearly impossible."
"Why?" Neji clenched his teeth, unwilling to accept this.
Kaito chuckled lightly. "The Uchiha clan, across countless generations, produced only one—Madara-sama—who attained the Rinnegan, the same eyes as the Sage of Six Paths. And even that involved immense serendipity."
As he spoke, he winked at Madara.
"Hmph!" Madara turned his head away, understanding Kaito's implication.
His Rinnegan was the result of too many coincidences—being the reincarnation of Indra's chakra, Hashirama as Asura's vessel, and Black Zetsu's manipulations. Without any single step, it would have been impossible.
Neji's expression darkened, but he pressed on. "At least Madara-sama succeeded, didn't he?"
Unlike Hinata's obliviousness, Toka and Iruka were stunned.
Madara?
Was this overwhelmingly powerful figure traveling with them the Uchiha Madara?
Exchanging glances, they struggled to suppress their shock.
This was the legendary figure who once stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the First Hokage!
Was this Kaito's trump card?
Kaito sensed their turmoil and nearly facepalmed.
The presence of Enma Dai-Ō didn't faze them this much. Do they think I just named my summon after the King of Hell?
Shaking his head slightly, he answered Neji: "The essence of a shinobi's power is chakra. Whether it's ninjutsu or kekkei genkai, all derive from variations of chakra."
Seeing Neji nod, he continued, "To put it bluntly, the Ōtsutsuki are inherently unique. Without their lineage's chakra, natural evolution of your eyes is improbable."
"So… there's no path to strive for?" Neji's fists trembled with frustration.
"Not necessarily."
Neji's eyes lit up as Kaito pointed at the artificial sun above.
"There's a ready-made Tenseigan right there. If you can absorb its ocular power, evolution isn't out of reach."
