Chapter 340 - Chapter 338: Quagsire in the Moon

Ash and his companions finally reached the charming coastal town of Cherrygrove City as the afternoon sun sparkled over the gentle waves.

The city welcomed them with its colorful houses, bustling markets, and the refreshing scent of sea breeze mixed with blooming flowers. After the mountainous trek and the exciting capture of Chikorita, everyone was ready for a well-deserved rest.

They found a peaceful spot near a sparkling lake just outside the main town area. Tall grass swayed in the breeze, and the water's surface reflected the clear blue sky. Ash sat cross-legged on a large flat rock, eyes closed in concentration.

He channeled a steady, gentle flow of aura directly into the GS Ball held carefully in his hands. Inside the mysterious sphere, he could sense a small presence basking happily in the warm energy, almost as if it were enjoying the soothing aura.

Nearby, the girls had set up a lovely picnic. A large blanket was spread out with homemade sandwiches, fresh fruits, berry treats for the Pokémon, and cool drinks. Misty, Sabrina, Daisy, Giselle, Ericka, and Melody chatted happily while preparing the food.

"This town is so cute!" Misty exclaimed, spreading out more snacks. "Much more relaxed than Palm Hills."

Sabrina smiled serenely, leaning against Ash's side for a moment. "The aura here feels calm. It's a good place to recharge."

Ericka carefully offered a berry to her baby Stantler, who nibbled happily. Daisy adjusted her camera equipment, already thinking about good shots for her grandfather, while Giselle and Melody laughed over a story from their travels.

Just then, a splash came from the lake.

A blue Pokémon with a friendly, dopey expression emerged from the water. "Quag… sire!" It waved its tail playfully, looking at the group with curious eyes.

"Wow, a Quagsire!" Misty's eyes lit up. "It looks so friendly! Go, Psyduck!"

In a flash, Psyduck materialized only to stare blankly at Quagsire. Strangely, the two Water-types seemed to share an odd mental connection. Psyduck tilted its head, and Quagsire mirrored the motion perfectly, both looking equally confused yet connected.

"Psyduck, focus!" Misty called, trying to get her Pokémon's attention. "We can try to catch this Quagsire!"

But before she could issue a proper command, the wild Quagsire spotted something shiny on the blanket the GS Ball. With surprising speed for its

appearance, it waddled over, snatched the round object in its mouth, and dove back into the lake with a big splash.

"Hey! Come back!" Misty shouted, running to the water's edge.

The girls immediately gave chase along the shore, calling out, but Ash stood up calmly, opening his eyes. "Wait, everyone. Don't panic. We'll get it back."

Just then, Officer Jenny approached on her motorcycle, looking official. "Excuse me, is everything alright here? I received a report of some commotion near the lake."

Ash explained politely, "We were having a picnic when a Quagsire appeared and took our special GS Ball. It swam off with it."

Officer Jenny's expression shifted to understanding. She nodded and began explaining the local custom. "Ah, that makes sense. In Cherrygrove City, Quagsire are very special to us. They help identify the cleanest water sources in the area by their sensitive skin and behavior. Every year during this season, the Quagsire swim down from their home at Blue Moon Falls. They collect round objects, swim upstream with them, and then send the objects floating back down the river. It's said to bring good luck especially the last object to float down."

She continued seriously, "That's why, during this period, no one is allowed to capture or battle Quagsire. It's part of the Quagsire Preservation Restrictions. Anyone who violates it faces arrest. Your GS Ball must have looked like the perfect round item to them."

Ash and the girls nodded respectfully. "We understand," Ash said.

"We'll respect the rules. Actually, this sounds like something worth watching. Let's check out the festival tonight, everyone."

The girls agreed enthusiastically, their earlier worry turning to excitement.

With permission from Officer Jenny who warned them again not to disturb or attempt to catch any Quagsire Ash and his group prepared for the evening.

Daisy brought her camera equipment, excited to film for grandfather oak ."This will be great data on local Pokémon behavior and traditions!"

As night fell, the group followed a procession of Quagsire toward the river. The Pokémon waddled and swam peacefully under the moonlight. Ash reminded Daisy to film discreetly.

The Quagsire stared up at the sky, almost as if waiting for something. Then, something triggered them all at once. They began swimming upstream with surprising determination.

Ash's group followed carefully along the paths, keeping a respectful distance. The journey led them to the breathtaking Blue Moon Falls. Tonight, the moon hung full and brilliantly blue in the sky a rare and beautiful phenomenon that bathed everything in an ethereal glow.

"Wow…" Melody breathed. "It really is a blue moon."

At the top of the falls, the Quagsire gathered. They began throwing their collected round objects into the air and using Water Gun to launch them high over the waterfall. It looked like a playful competition each Quagsire trying to send its object the highest, closest to the glowing blue moon.

Daisy filmed excitedly. "They're treating it like a contest! Look at how coordinated they are!"

One Quagsire in particular the same one that had taken the GS Ball launched Ash's precious item higher than all the others. The GS Ball soared gracefully, shimmering under the blue moonlight, before arcing down and landing in the river below. It began floating downstream with the current.

Ash and the girls watched in awe. "That was incredible," Ericka whispered. "So beautiful."

After the enchanting display, Ash gathered everyone. "We should head back to town and see where the objects end up."

Back in Cherrygrove City, the townsfolk had gathered along the riverbanks, excitedly collecting the floating items as they drifted by. Laughter and cheerful chatter filled the night air. The Quagsire watched contentedly from the water.

Finally, the last object came floating down the GS Ball. Officer Jenny carefully scooped it up with a net and handed it back to Ash with a smile. "Looks like you got the lucky one tonight. The last object is said to bring the best fortune."

Ash accepted it gratefully. "Thank you, Officer Jenny. We really appreciate it."

The group felt a renewed sense of energy and optimism. Holding the GS Ball, Ash looked at his girls with a determined grin.

"With luck like this, we're definitely going to win the Johto League. Our future adventures are going to be amazing!"

The girls gathered around him, sharing hugs and words of encouragement under the beautiful blue moon.

Cherrygrove City had given them more than just a rest stop it had given them a memorable night and a boost of confidence for the challenges ahead. With their bonds stronger than ever, they looked forward to Violet City and everything the Johto region still had in store.
