After the girls left using the teleportation device, Ash, Giselle, Pikachu, Eevee, and Togepi prepared to head to Lavender Town for the third Elite Four battle against Agatha. With a simple activation of the keyword "Ketchum Family," Ash opened a pathway directly to the Lavender Tower area. In a soft shimmer of light, the group stepped through the door and emerged near the famous haunted tower of Lavender Town.
The moment they arrived, a chill ran down their spines. The air around the tower felt unnaturally cold and heavy, as if the very atmosphere was saturated with ghostly energy. Ash's aura sense immediately picked up the presence of many new Ghost-type Pokémon that had been drawn to the tower. Shadowy figures flickered in the corners of his vision, and faint, eerie whispers echoed through the old wooden structure.
Giselle stayed close to Ash, her hand gripping his arm tightly. "This place really does feel haunted…"
Suddenly, a small, ghostly Pokémon appeared right in front of her a Misdreavus with its signature red eyes and flowing hair-like appendages. It let out a playful but spooky cry.
"Mis-dreavus!"
Giselle jumped in fright and instinctively hugged Ash tightly, burying her face in his chest. "Ahh! What is that?!"
Ash chuckled softly and gently rubbed her back to calm her down. "It's just a Misdreavus. It's a Ghost-type Pokémon. It won't hurt you."
Giselle slowly peeked out, still holding onto Ash. When she saw the cute, floating Misdreavus hovering curiously in front of her, her fear melted away. She reached out tentatively and began playing with the little ghost Pokémon, which seemed to enjoy the attention and floated around her happily.
Pikachu, Eevee, and Togepi quickly joined in, chasing and playing with the Misdreavus as the group continued searching for Agatha inside the tower. While walking through the dimly lit corridors, Ash told Giselle the story of how he had caught the Gengar brothers during his earlier travels through Lavender Town.
"They were causing some trouble back then," Ash said with a fond smile. "But after a good battle, they decided to join me. Ghost-types can be really tricky, but once you understand them, they become incredibly loyal partners."
Giselle listened with interest, her initial nervousness completely gone thanks to Ash's calm presence and the playful Misdreavus.
After some searching, they finally saw a faint light coming from a large room at the top of the tower. Ash pushed open the heavy wooden door, revealing a massive Pokémon battlefield inside. Standing on the opposite side, leaning on her cane with a sharp, knowing smile, was the elderly Elite Four member Agatha.
"So you are the prodigy of the old Oak, huh?" Agatha began, her voice raspy but strong. "I've heard many interesting things about you, lad."
Ash replied respectfully. "It's a big honor to meet one of the strongest Ghost-type Trainers in the region."
Agatha smirked, clearly pleased by the compliment. She tapped her cane on the ground, and the battlefield lights brightened.
"This is going to be a 1 vs 1 battle," she explained. "I didn't come here to challenge you with a full team. I want to test how you fight against my ace. Are you ready?"
Ash nodded eagerly. "I'm ready."
Before the battle started, Giselle gave Ash a sweet good-luck kiss on the cheek. "Good luck, Master Ash. We believe in you."
She then moved to the side with Pikachu, Eevee, and Togepi, who were still playing with the friendly Misdreavus.
Agatha tapped her cane once more, and a Poké Ball released her ace Pokémon. Her Gengar emerged from deep shadows in one of the coolest and most famous entry scenes. It stretched out from the darkness with a big, spooky smile and glowing red eyes, its body phasing in and out of the shadows dramatically.
Ash responded by releasing his own powerful partner. "Hisuian Zoroark, let's do this!"
The large, slender fox-like creature appeared with a graceful flourish. Its pale grey body and long, wildly flowing white mane tipped with dark red gave it an almost ghostly, elegant appearance. Its red-rimmed eyes with yellow pupils locked onto Gengar with intense focus.
Both Pokémon stared at each other, the atmosphere in the tower growing colder and more chilling by the second.
Battle Start!
Agatha made the first move. "Gengar, Shadow Ball!"
Gengar formed a sphere of dark energy and hurled it toward Zoroark at high speed.
Ash countered immediately. "Zoroark, Bitter Malice!"
The ghostly flames from Hisuian Zoroark collided with the Shadow Ball in the center of the field, creating a powerful explosion that shook the tower walls. Both Pokémon emerged unharmed, circling each other warily.
Zoroark followed up with a powerful Hyper Voice, letting out a spectral scream that shook the battlefield and sent ripples through the air.
Gengar retaliated with Sludge Bomb, the poisonous blast tearing through the sound waves. Both attacks partially connected, causing minor damage to each side.
The battle intensified with every exchange. Gengar attempted Hypnosis, sending purple rings toward Zoroark to put it to sleep. Zoroark cleverly used Illusion to create a fake image, causing the hypnosis to miss while the real Zoroark appeared behind Gengar for a surprise attack.
The two Ghost-types traded blows in a beautiful yet eerie dance of shadows and illusions. The tower's atmosphere grew even colder as their powers clashed, the air filled with dark energy and spectral flames.
Ash and Agatha watched intently, both trainers fully focused on the high-level Ghost-type showdown. The battle between Hisuian Zoroark and Gengar was far from over, and the outcome would determine the next step in Ash's Elite Four challenge.
Ash's voice rang out with sharp focus across the dimly lit battlefield. "Zoroark, Shadow Claw!"
Hisuian Zoroark's claws ignited with dark, ghostly energy as it lunged forward with blinding speed. The powerful slash landed heavily on Gengar's back, the ghostly claws raking across its shadowy form and leaving deep, lingering trails of darkness that seemed to drain some of its vitality. Gengar stumbled backward from the force of the blow, its body flickering unsteadily for a moment.
Agatha tapped her cane sharply, her eyes gleaming with battle-hardened experience. "Gengar, Destiny Bond!"
Dark energy surged around Gengar like a sinister shroud, the ominous power beginning to link the two Pokémon in a dangerous pact. If Zoroark tried to finish the fight now, both could fall together.
Ash, sensing the deadly link forming through his strong psychic connection, immediately warned his partner telepathically. Zoroark, escape it! Use Night Shade!
Zoroark's eyes glowed with ethereal light as it unleashed a powerful Night Shade attack. The wave of shadowy energy clashed directly with the forming Destiny Bond, the two forces neutralizing each other in a brilliant burst of dark sparks that lit up the entire tower. The dangerous link was broken just in time, forcing both Pokémon to retreat and reassess.
The spectators Giselle, Pikachu, Eevee, Togepi, and the curious Misdreavus watched with wide-eyed excitement and tension.
Giselle clutched her hands together. "That was so close! Ash's reaction was perfect!"
Pikachu cheered loudly. "Pika-pi!"
Eevee and Togepi bounced excitedly, while the Misdreavus floated around them, seemingly thrilled by the dramatic battle.
Ash remained composed, channeling a subtle wave of psychic energy through his bond with Zoroark to steady its focus. He also sent a gentle boost of Viridian aura, enhancing his Pokémon's resilience and clarity in the chaotic environment.
"Zoroark, Nasty Plot!"
Instead of attacking directly, Zoroark stood calmly, its ghostly aura intensifying as it boosted its special attack power. Gengar seized the opportunity and fired a powerful Dark Pulse a crashing wave of darkness that struck Zoroark head-on. The attack connected solidly, but Zoroark endured it, emerging stronger and more dangerous than before thanks to Ash's aura support.
Once Zoroark boosted its attack power with Nasty Plot, Ash saw the perfect opening and commanded with sharp focus, "Zoroark, use a powerful Fire Blast toward Gengar!"
Hisuian Zoroark's eyes glowed with intensified ghostly energy as it opened its mouth and unleashed a massive torrent of flames. The Fire Blast roared across the battlefield like a blazing inferno, the intense heat causing the air to shimmer and the shadows in the tower to flicker wildly. The powerful fire attack lit up the entire room in bright orange and red hues, the flames twisting and expanding as they raced toward Gengar with devastating force.
Agatha reacted instantly, tapping her cane with authority. "Gengar, Protect!"
Gengar raised its hands, summoning a shimmering green barrier around itself just in time. The Fire Blast slammed into the protective shield with tremendous power, the flames roaring against the energy field. For a moment, the barrier held, but Ash's Zoroark had poured everything into the attack after its Nasty Plot boost. The Protect barrier began to crack under the overwhelming pressure, spiderweb fractures spreading rapidly across the shield.
With a final, explosive burst, the Protect failed completely. The Fire Blast broke through and engulfed Gengar in a raging sea of flames. The Ghost-type let out a pained cry as the intense fire burned across its shadowy body, the attack dealing massive damage and leaving it visibly scorched and weakened.
The crowd of spectators Giselle, Pikachu, Eevee, Togepi, and the curious Misdreavus watched with wide-eyed excitement and tension.
Giselle clutched her hands together. "That Fire Blast was incredible! Zoroark is so strong!"
Pikachu cheered loudly. "Pika-pi!"
Eevee and Togepi bounced excitedly, while the Misdreavus floated around them, seemingly thrilled by the dramatic battle.
Agatha's expression grew more serious, but she wasn't finished yet. "Gengar, use Sludge Wave to poison Zoroark!"
Gengar, still recovering from the flames, summoned a massive wave of toxic sludge that surged across the battlefield toward Zoroark. The poisonous attack left a trail of corrosive purple liquid that sizzled on the floor, threatening to inflict a debilitating status condition.
Ash responded immediately. "Zoroark, Bitter Malice!"
Zoroark countered with a wave of ghostly flames infused with pure malice. The two attacks collided in the center of the field with a violent explosion of dark energy and toxic sludge. Both Gengar and Zoroark were caught in the blast, taking significant damage from their opponent's respective attacks.
The tower fell into a brief, tense silence as both Pokémon took a moment to catch their breath. The battle between Ash and Agatha had become incredibly tense, each trainer pushing their limits in a high-stakes clash of Ghost-type mastery. The air was thick with spectral power, shadows twisting and turning as the two Pokémon prepared for the next exchange.
Ash channeled more of his psychic power and Viridian aura, giving Zoroark the edge it needed to keep fighting at its peak. The battle showed no signs of slowing down, each move more spectacular than the last as Ash and Agatha pushed their Pokémon to their absolute limits.
Giselle cheered from the sidelines. "You can do it, Zoroark!"
The intense showdown between Hisuian Zoroark and Gengar continued, the tower alive with spectral power as the clash pushed toward its climax.
