The familiar dirt path leading to Professor Oak's laboratory felt warmer and more welcoming than ever. Ash walked at the front, his heart light with anticipation. Pikachu sat proudly on his shoulder, while Eevee trotted beside him, both Pokémon practically vibrating with happiness at being back in Pallet Town.
Misty walked on Ash's right, her hand linked with his. "I can't believe we're finally here. It feels like we've been gone for years."
Sabrina stayed close on his left, a soft smile on her face. "The air here is so peaceful. It's a nice change after all the storms we faced."
Daisy looked around with nostalgic eyes. "Grandpa's lab… I wonder how he's been."
Giselle, still getting used to the idea of returning to Kanto as part of Ash's family, stayed near Daisy. "I'm a little nervous, but excited too."
Tracey was practically skipping ahead, eyes wide with fanboy energy. "Professor Oak! The Professor Oak! I'm really going to meet him!"
As they reached the lab entrance, the door burst open and a massive purple blob came flying out.
"Muuuuk!"
Muk launched itself at Ash with overwhelming affection, wrapping him in a big, sloppy hug. Ash laughed, patting the enthusiastic Pokémon. "Haha, Muk! I missed you too!"
Professor Oak stepped out behind Muk, smiling warmly. "Ash, my boy! Welcome home!" His eyes lit up as he saw the whole group. "And Daisy! You're back too. And these must be your friends."
Daisy shook her head with an amused sigh at her grandfather's usual clumsiness as Muk finally released Ash.
Tracey stood frozen for a second, eyes shining like stars. He stepped forward nervously but enthusiastically. "P-Professor Oak! It's such an honor! I'm Tracey Sketchit, a Pokémon Watcher from the Orange Islands. I've been documenting everything on our journey!"
He eagerly showed Professor Oak some of his sketches detailed drawings of Ash's battles, the legendary birds, and Icelix's evolution.
Professor Oak's eyes widened in genuine admiration. "These are excellent! The detail, the emotion… You have real talent, Tracey."
Ash smiled and handed over the GS Ball. "Professor, here's the GS Ball from Professor Ivy. She asked me to deliver it safely."
Oak took it carefully and placed it on a special shelf inside the lab. "Thank you, Ash. I'll examine it thoroughly."
Tracey looked at the many Poké Balls on the shelves. "Whose are all these?"
Oak explained kindly, "They belong to trainers from Kanto who left them with me for safekeeping while they travel. And over here…" He gestured to two special shelves with pictures. "These are Ash's Pokémon."
Ash then asked, "Professor, did the Lapras pod arrive safely?"
Oak's eyes widened. "Lapras pod? You caught an entire pod?"
Ash recounted the story of the poachers hunting the Lapras in the Orange Islands. Professor Oak listened intently and praised him warmly. "You did a wonderful thing, Ash. Those Lapras will be safe and happy on the new island I prepared for your Pokémon."
Amber ran into the backyard to play with Ash's Pokémon, while Tracey followed to sketch them. Professor Oak watched Tracey's work and was impressed. "You have a real gift, young man. How would you like to be my first personal assistant here at the lab?"
Tracey's eyes sparkled with pure joy. "Yes! I'd love to!"
Ash then offered, "Professor, would you like to see some of the rare Pokémon I caught during the Orange Islands journey?"
Oak's face lit up like a child's. "Absolutely! Show me!"
Ash released his new Pokémon one by one.
First, the majestic Ice Empress Lapras appeared, her crystalline form shimmering beautifully. Then Icelix (the mutated Crystal Onix / Steelix variant), her body gleaming with icy crystals and metallic armor. Snorlax yawned lazily but stood proudly. Finally, the shiny Arctibax and the powerful Alpha Steelix emerged.
Professor Oak gasped, eyes wide with fascination. He moved from one to another like a mad scientist, examining them closely while muttering notes. Tracey sketched frantically, capturing every detail.
The Alpha Steelix instantly noticed Icelix and stared at her with clear admiration. Icelix sensed the gaze, turned, and gave a small, elegant smile. Steelix looked completely smitten, nearly falling over in awe.
Lapras gracefully swam in the pond with Ash's other Water-types. Snorlax wandered off to snack on berries from the surrounding trees. Shiny Arctibax approached Ash's Charizard and Cynthia's Garchomp, introducing himself politely.
While this was happening, Ash received a System notification.

Mission Completed: Safely Deliver the GS Ball to Professor OakRewards: Master Ball × 1, Random Pokémon +3 Levels.
The random Pokémon selected was Clefairy, who was playing with Amber. Clefairy suddenly glowed, feeling a surge of power as she leveled up.
Ash smiled at the rewards.
Pikachu and Eevee happily ran around, catching up and playing with all of Ash's Pokémon in the backyard.
Pikachu and Eevee, full of energy, ran around visiting all the different groups.
First, they went to the ghost Pokémon area. Annileape and Hisuian Zoroark were chatting with the Gastly trio (Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar) and the powerful Champion-level Gengar. Pikachu and Eevee joined for a bit, playing with the mischievous ghosts until Eevee got spooked by a playful Shadow Ball and ran off laughing.
Pikachu then dashed to the Water-type area, where Ash's Blastoise was training his squad of Wartortles. Blastoise gave Pikachu a proud nod as the little mouse cheered them on before heading to the next group.
Eevee went to the fossil Pokémon section, greeting the various Kabuto, Kabutops, Omanyte, and Omastar. The primal Aerodactyl lounged on a large rock, watching over them like a guardian. Eevee played tag with a few of the smaller fossils before moving on.
Pikachu visited the Dragonite family next. Ash's male Dragonite and the female Dragonite were playfully flying around with Sabrina's Dragonair (the mother of one of Ash's Dragonites). The family scene was warm and loving, with the mother watching her children with gentle eyes. Pikachu greeted them happily before continuing his rounds.
Eevee joined Venasaur, who was relaxing with Arcanine, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Butterfree, and his mate. The group was playing a gentle game, and Eevee happily joined in for a while, rolling around in the grass.
Pikachu went to greet Ash's shiny Nidoking, who was hugging Sabrina's Nidoqueen affectionately. The two Poison-types were content together, and Pikachu gave them a cheerful wave.
Meanwhile, in a quiet corner, Sabrina's Alakazam, Hypno, and Mr. Mime were meditating with Ash's Kadabra and Cynthia's Lucario. Their auras glowed softly in harmony.
Pikachu and Eevee eventually reunited, chasing each other around the lab grounds, visiting every group and spreading joy among all of Ash's Pokémon.
Ash watched the lively scene with a content smile, feeling truly home at last.
