With a confident smile, he tossed it high into the air.
"Lapras, let's do this!"
A brilliant flash of light erupted, and the Pokémon that appeared left the entire stadium in absolute awe.
It wasn't just any Lapras.
A swirling vortex of frost and shimmering energy wrapped around her as she materialized. The air around the battlefield grew noticeably colder, and snowflakes began to dance gracefully even in the warm tropical climate. Lapras's shell grew larger and more ornate, developing elegant crystalline patterns that glowed with inner icy light. Her body elongated gracefully, becoming more majestic and queen-like. This was the Ice Empress Lapras the majestic mutated form she had achieved earlier in the Orange League arc. She stood tall and regal, like a queen of the frozen seas, her crystalline shell reflecting the sunlight in dazzling patterns, and a gentle yet powerful aura of frost surrounding her, making the sand near her feet sparkle with tiny ice crystals.

Daisy clasped her hands together. "She's regal… absolutely stunning! The way the light hits her crystals is beautiful."
Giselle watched with sparkling eyes. "Master Ash's bond with her is so strong. Look at how confident she is!"
Tracey was drawing like a madman. "The crystalline crown, the flowing fins, the frost aura in battle it's gives Lapras even more royal look!"
Drake raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed. "Another powerful mutated form? You really do have quite the collection, Ash. Let's see how she fares against electricity. Electabuzz, go!"
The powerful Electric-type appeared with a crackling roar, electricity sparking around its body as it took position on the sandy field, muscles flexing confidently.
Battle Start!
Ash made the first move. "Lapras, dive into the pond!"
The majestic Ice Empress slid gracefully across the sand and dove into the central pond with a powerful splash. Her crystalline body disappeared beneath the water, leaving only gentle ripples on the surface as she positioned herself strategically.
Drake grinned confidently, trusting in the type advantage. "Electabuzz, unleash a powerful Thunderbolt right into the pond!"
Electabuzz raised its arms and fired a massive bolt of electricity straight into the water. The Thunderbolt crackled violently as it entered the pond, sending arcs of lightning spreading through the water like a storm.
The crowd held their breath.
However, Lapras's mutated Ice Empress form proved incredibly resilient. She endured the electrical assault with only minor scratches, her Shell Armor and powerful icy aura protecting her from the worst of the damage. Small sparks danced across her crystalline shell, but she remained strong beneath the surface, the cold energy within her neutralizing much of the electricity.
Ash's voice rang out clearly. "Lapras, use Psychic! Drag Electabuzz into the pond!"
A powerful psychic energy surged from Lapras underwater. Invisible waves of force locked onto Electabuzz, lifting the Electric-type into the air despite its struggles and attempts to ground itself with Thunder Punch.
Drake reacted quickly. "Electabuzz, break free! Use Thunderbolt on yourself to disrupt the psychic hold!"
Electabuzz surrounded itself with electricity, trying to shock the psychic energy away, but Lapras's hold was firm. Slowly but surely, she dragged the struggling Electabuzz toward the pond's edge.
Ash pressed the advantage. "Lapras, hit it with Ice Beam while dragging!"
From beneath the water, Lapras fired a concentrated Ice Beam that struck Electabuzz mid-air, covering parts of its body in frost and slowing its movements.
Drake wasn't done. "Electabuzz, Thunder Punch the ice off and counter with Swift!"
Electabuzz broke some of the ice with powerful electrified punches and fired a barrage of star-shaped energy projectiles toward the pond. The Swift attack hit the water's surface, creating explosions and forcing Lapras to maneuver underwater.
The battle became a fierce, prolonged clash. Lapras used her psychic power and icy attacks from the safety of the pond, while Electabuzz launched wave after wave of electric assaults, trying to force her out or overwhelm her. Thunderbolts, Ice Beams, Thunder Punches, and Freeze-Dry attacks lit up the stadium in a spectacular display of elemental power.
Ash commanded with precision. "Lapras, Aurora Veil for defense, then Sheer Cold!"
A beautiful aurora-like veil of light surrounded Lapras underwater, boosting her defenses. She then unleashed another powerful Sheer Cold attack that mixed with the pond water, creating a freezing vortex that threatened to trap Electabuzz.
Drake countered aggressively. "Electabuzz, maximize your power! Thunderbolt barrage combined with Low Kick!"
Electabuzz fired multiple Thunderbolts while charging forward, attempting to kick Lapras if she surfaced. The back-and-forth was intense electricity versus ice, power versus strategy. Lapras took several direct hits but endured thanks to her mutated abilities and Shell Armor. Electabuzz was pushed to its limits, its movements becoming more labored as frost accumulated on its body.
Finally, Ash saw the opening. "Lapras, full power Sheer Cold!"
Lapras emerged slightly from the pond and unleashed her strongest Sheer Cold yet. The absolute zero energy engulfed Electabuzz completely. The Electric-type struggled valiantly, firing one last desperate Thunderbolt, but the freezing attack proved too overwhelming.
Electabuzz collapsed, defeated.
The stadium exploded into thunderous cheers.
Drake recalled his defeated Electabuzz with a respectful nod. "You're full of surprises, Ash."
The crowd continued roaring as the intense championship final pushed forward.
The stadium was still roaring from Electabuzz's defeat when Drake recalled his fallen partner with a respectful nod. The veteran trainer stood silent for a moment, looking across the sandy battlefield at Ash with a mixture of respect and intensity. But maintaining this position hasn't been easy. My main partner has been with me through every single defense of this title. He has been the cornerstone of my strength, the one who carried me through the toughest battles."
Drake reached up to the necklace around his neck, unhooking a special Poké Ball that gleamed with a deep orange luster. He held it high, letting the sunlight catch its surface.
"And now… I face a truly worthy opponent. Someone who has defeated all four of my Orange Crew members and pushed me this far. Ash… it's time you met the heart of my team."
With a powerful throw, Drake released his final Pokémon.
"Dragonite! Come forth!"
A brilliant flash of light erupted, and the legendary Dragon-type materialized with a mighty roar that shook the entire stadium. Dragonite hovered powerfully above the sandy field, its muscular orange body radiating raw strength and experience. Its wings spread wide, creating gusts of wind that swept across the arena. This was no ordinary Dragonite this was Drake's undefeated partner, the one who had defended the Orange League title for nearly ten years.
The crowd exploded into a frenzy.
"DRAGONITE! DRAGONITE!"
"DRAKE! DRAKE!"
"THE CHAMPION'S ACE!"
The chants echoed throughout Pummelo Stadium like thunder. Many spectators stood up, waving flags and cheering wildly for the legendary duo.
Ash's eyes burned with intense fire. A fierce, excited grin spread across his face as he stared at the powerful Dragonite. He had been waiting for this moment.
"I've been looking forward to this too, Drake," Ash replied, his voice steady but filled with burning passion. "Let's give everyone a final battle they'll never forget!"
Ash recalled his previous Pokémon and immediately sent out his next fighter.
"Lapras! Let's finish this strong!"
The majestic Ice Empress Lapras appeared once more, her crystalline crown and flowing fins shimmering beautifully. She slid gracefully toward the central pond, ready for the decisive clash.
Lapras vs Dragonite
Ash made the first move. "Lapras, full power Ice Beam!"
Lapras opened her mouth and fired a massive, concentrated beam of freezing energy straight toward Dragonite. The Ice Beam cut through the air like a frozen laser, leaving a trail of frost and snowflakes in its wake.
Drake countered confidently. "Dragonite, Flamethrower!"
Dragonite roared and unleashed a powerful stream of roaring flames that collided head-on with the Ice Beam. The two elemental attacks met in a spectacular explosion of steam and energy in the center of the field. The clash created thick clouds of mist that billowed across the sandy dunes.
Drake didn't stop there. "Dragonite, use Agility! Close the gap!"
Dragonite's body glowed with speed-enhancing energy. In a blur of motion, the powerful dragon shot forward, easily breaking through the lingering mist and closing the distance toward Lapras at incredible speed.
Ash reacted quickly. "Lapras, dive back into the pond!"
Lapras began to retreat toward the water, but Dragonite was too fast. With a mighty roar, Drake's ace delivered a devastating Thunder Punch, its fist crackling with electricity as it struck Lapras squarely on her side just as she reached the edge of the pond.
The impact was tremendous.
Lapras was knocked violently out of the water, crashing onto the sandy shore with a heavy thud. Despite her Shell Armor and Ice Empress abilities, the single, powerful Thunder Punch from Drake's undefeated Dragonite proved too much. Lapras struggled for a moment before lying still, defeated.
The crowd erupted into massive cheers for Dragonite.
"DRAGONITE!"
"WHAT POWER!"
"THE CHAMPION'S ACE IS UNSTOPPABLE!"
Ash recalled his fallen partner gently, kneeling beside the Poké Ball with a soft smile. "You did greatly, Lapras. You fought with everything you had. Thank you."
The stadium was alive with energy as the championship final reached its climax. Drake's Dragonite hovered powerfully in the air, while Ash prepared to send out his next Pokémon.
