Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Engagment

"Good morning, ma'am," greeted her employee as they caught sight of her. Maya acknowledged them with a nod and made her way towards her office, aware of the many eyes observing her every move.

"Ma'am, here's your schedule for the day," said her secretary, Emily, as she followed Maya into the office.

Maya's office was located on the twenty-fifth floor. It boasted an expansive space adorned with exquisite, classic furniture. The entire office was designed in a sleek black and white theme. Maya settled into her chair and gazed out of the windows, taking in the sweeping view of the city.

"Go on," Maya instructed, opening her laptop.

"Ma'am, you have a meeting with the CEO of G&D Corporation. After that, you have a dinner appointment with Mr. Frank to discuss project details. And finally, y-ou ne-ed to attend the eng-agem-ent ceremony of Mr. Brook and Miss Turner," Emily stuttered nervously as she spoke.

Michael Brook, Maya's childhood sweetheart and former fiancé, had recently broken up with her and publicly professed his love for the famous actress Emma Turner. Emma had gained popularity after starring alongside Michael in their first movie, "The Highschool."

Michael Brook was a well-known movie star, tall, handsome, and possessing all the qualities that any girl could ask for. Many internet users believed that Maya was the villain in their love story, considering her as a hindrance to their idol's romance.

Despite the public's perception of Maya, nobody had actually seen her in person. She deliberately avoided the public eye, and people only knew her as Michael Brook's famous fiancée, Maya Reynolds.

Maya Reynolds was often referred to as the "Icy Queen" by her employees. However, the internet users imagined her as a beautiful, wealthy woman who had come between their beloved idols' love story.

Nevertheless, no one dared to confront her or utter a word against her. They were aware of her wealth and rumored connections with the military, which made them fearful of crossing her.

"Please prepare a designer gown for me for the engagement and call my stylist," Maya said in a cold tone. She reached for her glasses on the table and put them on, engrossing herself in the documents before her.

"Roar..."

"Roar..."

On the other hand, Lucifer was feeling despondent. He paced around the living room, letting out roars that startled the maids and butlers. He repeatedly asked them about Maya's whereabouts by roaring, causing them to tremble in fear.

Observing their fear, Lucifer rolled his eyes and settled near the sofa, patiently waiting for Maya to appear. His massive paws tapped the floor as he kept his gaze fixed on the door.

A timid maid approached him, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. She cursed silently, wondering why the boss didn't confine this wild animal and save them from such fright.

"Roar..."

The maid's legs trembled, and she raised her eyes fearfully, meeting Lucifer's piercing blue gaze. She gulped nervously as a drop of sweat fell from her forehead. Hastily, she placed the water and meat down before scurrying away for her own safety.

Observing the maid's terrified reaction, Lucifer yawned and thought to himself, "Such a weak female, frightened by my mere presence."

He stood up, shook his fur, and leisurely approached the meat, his tail swaying with each step. He relished the pleasure of devouring the cooked, golden meat, which was better than when he ate it raw.

After satisfying his hunger, he drank water from his bowl and stretched his forelimbs. Feeling a bit bored, he resumed his roaming around living room.
