Iskander stormed into his chamber with fury gracing his face.
He was already frustrated after attending the council meeting that Yohana had to add fuel to the fire. Those old men wouldn't stop lecturing him about finding a mate and producing an heir. They kept pushing maidens from their own families on him.
He had barely kept his temper in check there, but finding out what Yohana had done pushed him over the edge. She had tried to sneak into his past by entering the one room he had strictly forbidden for everyone.
"How dare she enter that room?" he growled, slamming his fist into the wall. "If it were not you… you'd be dead by now!" he hissed to the empty room.
"You sure know how to kill and kill only, dear brother," Marvin said, stepping into the room. He didn't even bother to knock, his face wearing a lazy, sarcastic smile that only made Iskander's temper flare higher.
"What did you do to her earlier? She looked broken and miserable," Marvin continued with suspicion.
