The atmosphere fell silent the moment Meer asked the question, which even left Miril speechless for a few seconds.
The white-haired girl opened her mouth slightly, trying to answer, but her chest felt so heavy to even try to speak.
Miril took a deep breath before finally exhaling. "It doesn't matter."
"It doesn't matter?" Meer asked again, not to mock or belittle her, but out of pure curiosity.
However, it seemed Miril didn't take it that way, because the girl immediately turned and glared sharply into Meer's eyes.
"It doesn't matter!" Miril asserted, raising her voice. "Mages who work as adventurers are outcasts—no matter if they're nobles or whatever. Noble status, like the Fritz family or whatever, doesn't matter anymore! Just like you—you have a bit of talent, yet you ended up here!"
