With the big day finally there, the palace was abuzz. Everybody was rushing, shouting, and arguing about tablecloth coloring and decorative centerpieces.
A chaos that seemed to intensify with each passing moment.
The ceremony would be held at noon in the temple where the highest priest, the magi, would officially crown Shapur as the new king and ruler of Persia before the gods.
Only the nobles and the royal family would be attending. No guests or servants permitted.
Then, a celebratory banquet would be held that night, which was why everyone in the palace was panicking.
Shapur had just finished getting into his ceremonial robes, ready to leave for the temple, when a knock on his chamber's door made him arch an eyebrow. Who would be visiting him then and there?
He nodded to Hala, who had been standing by the set of double doors, and she opened one, revealing the form of a frail girl in white and silver robes, with her head bowed slightly in a polite greeting.
