Zarqa found that she had easily settled down in the palace, much to her surprise. Between the chores and the etiquette lessons, she found she had grown accustomed to the life there already.
The amount of work might have been too much, given how very few of them there were, but it wasn't that arduous. If anything, they were allowed breaks and days off, not that they could spend them anywhere other than the palace, but at the very least, they were considered of the maids' wellbeing.
One reason for such treatment was that the palace didn't house many people, as a matter of fact.
She was told that only two people, two young princes, resided in there. She hardly ever saw them herself, for as it seemed, they had attendants of their own to look after their everyday needs.
She had seen those several times, crossing them in hallways as she hauled buckets of water to wipe the windows and clean the parlors.
