As a family rooted in the Martial Dao, they naturally knew what Gu Worms were.
This was an evil sorcery passed down in the Miaozhai Village near Dianzhou in South Shu. It involved sealing various poisonous insects into a vessel, forcing them to kill and devour each other until only one remained—this survivor became the rudimentary form of a Gu Worm.
Then, through the use of a Secret Technique, it was fed with one's own fresh blood. Once it grew to a certain stage, it became a Gu Worm.
Due to the different Secret Techniques used, the effects of the Gu Worms varied.
However, without exception, they could be released completely undetected. A person could be afflicted through food or drink, clothing, or even by merely breathing!
