Chapter 36 - Part Time Waiter

"Welcome to Balsamic Shades," Isabella, Orchid's friend and the lady hosting me for the duration of my stay in Cascarrafa, said as she took me to a small restaurant on the second layer of the city. "This is where you'll be working for the time being."

Following yesterday's Dinner, Dendra and I made plans to meet up again the next day so I could help them plan their trip across the Asado desert. Following that, I returned to my current place of stay to meet Orchid's friend.

Having already met her Son Giacomo and her Husband Frank, the meeting went by rather quickly. Just some simple introductions, going over rules I need to follow while in the house, and then most importantly-

"You will be working at my restaurant for the duration of your stay," She told me.

The work would be four days a week, Monday to Thursday, from the hours of 09:30 in the morning to 16:00 in the afternoon. I'll be doing a waiting job, meaning taking orders from customers, bringing them their food once the meal is ready, and cleaning the tables when they leave. As someone who already worked part-time in small restaurants during high school, I saw no issue with it.

It's not like I can keep working at the Hotel now that it's closed for renovations, a part-time job as a waiter to pay for my stay seems fine, and that's not counting that I will be paid for working there, and the extra free day once a week.

I might finally be able to get Cave Story to a state fit for a promo, upload a trailer onto a Kickstarter website, and advertise that I'm looking for a publisher!

I might actually get my work done without another interruption!

And none of this includes exploring the surrounding area and seeing the sights. Situated on the border of a Desert, Cascarrafa is a great staging ground for traveling and sightseeing.

With the mountains to the north and east, desert to the west, and grassy hills to the south, all while being surrounded by rivers, Cascarrafa is a wonderful place for another Fanny and Dishon outdoor blog!

But all of these plans will have to wait, I need to get ready for my first day at my new (temporary) job.

And so I followed Isabella into Balsamic Shades, prepared to work for my new temporary place of stay.

"Grah! What do you mean my card isn't working?!" In the town of Medali, a blue-haired girl yelled at an exhausted lady sitting behind a cash register.

"Like I've told you, ma'am, your card doesn't have enough money in it for this purchase," The register lady said tiredly.

"You said that already but it doesn't make any sense!" The girl yelled, her blue hair that was usually tied into loops at the sides of her head was now frazzled and unkempt, "I should still have enough money in there! TRY AGAIN!"

"Ma'am, please stop yelling..." The lady said as she tried once again to explain to her that this is the fourth time she's tried to use the same card, only to receive a notice of insufficient funds.

"GRAH!" The blue-haired girl yelled as she angrily stomped out of the store, glaring angrily at anything that moved as she tried to form a plan on what to do.

"My phone is broken, my bank is empty, and my clothes are ruined..." She growled as she stomped her way towards a nearby park and sat down on a bench, her arms crossed over her chest as her brows furrowed in thought.

"Stupid Teleporter... Stupid bank account... Stupid Trainers..." The girl's eyes widened as a plan was forged in her head, "The Stupid Rival! This is all his fault!"

--------------------------------

Somewhere in the city of Cacarrafa, Dishon groaned as he felt a headache start to form while he was cleaning a table.

---------------------------------

"If he didn't ruin my amazing machine, none of this would have happened!" Mable yelled at the sky, ignoring the concerned looks she was receiving from nearby onlookers, wondering who the weird homeless lady was.

"If I find him and beat him, I'll be able to prove my superiority, and he'll have no choice but to work under me! And with my genius mind, and his... his... His stupid coding languages that even children can control, I'll be unstoppable! My invincible hardware will fuse with his unstoppable software, and then everybody will have no choice but to TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!" She quickly stood up, only to wobble in place for a moment as her body adjusted to the sudden vertigo of standing up too quickly.

"Heheheh, Stupid Rival, watch out! For I, Mable! Team Flare Scientist Extraordinaire! Shall defeat you!" She announced to the world, only for her yelling to attract the ire of a Pokemon that sat in a small burrow underneath the bench, which decided to repay her wonderful yelling by grabbing onto her leg and-

"Dedenne!" It screeched, a charge of electricity escaping from its whiskers and into the Team Flare Scientist.

"AAAAAHHHH!!!!" Mable screamed as the jolt of electricity coursed through her body, "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!" She managed to scream as she grabbed an empty Pokeball and chucked at the Electric-type's head, "STUPID RIVAL!"

-----------------------------------

In the city of Cascaraffa, Dishon was in the midst of helping Dendra and Eri plan their trek across the Asado desert, when he suddenly got a chill down his spine.

"Sal?" Fanny asked as she poked him.

"It's nothing, don't worry about it~" He smiled as he told her, reaching down to scratch her in the back of the bandana.

"Landiiiiiit~" Fanny growled in comfort as she relaxed.

------------------------------------

"I WILL FIND HIM! AND I WILL GET MY REVENGE- Huh? Hey, Wait! What are you doing!" Mable yelled as a pair of policemen grabbed her and began to take her away.

"We've received a call about a public menace disturbing the peace," One officer said as they dragged Mable in the direction of the Medali City Police Department.

"GRAH! I'll get you for this!"
