Written at the Beginning: This book was originally called Ring of Fate, but later the four characters for "Ring of Fate" violated the rules! So it was changed to Causality Sequence, but overall, the sequence hasn't changed.
As for why it violated the rules, hmm! I don't know either, everyone can ponder it slowly.
Because the power of destiny is too special, simply using the word "destiny" is hard to describe its complexity and prone to misunderstanding. Therefore, this book defines destiny in four stages. Their constraints on events are: Fate ≥ Predetermined Destiny ≥ Cause and Effect > Destiny.
Fate is unique and immutable. It is the eternal past, the determined present, and the solidified future. It cannot be deceived, fooled, or hidden. Fate is inviolable, fate is irreversible, and fate leads all directions.
Predetermined Destiny is the future occupied within a single timeline. When it converges and solidifies all timelines, it becomes Fate.
Cause and Effect is the start and end of predetermined destiny. Thus, after perfecting the evolution of cause and effect, it can to some extent be regarded as predetermined destiny.
Destiny is all the possibilities of the future, the present being determined, the countless unrealized potentialities. All destinies converge toward Fate, starting from Cause and ending at Effect.
Uniqueness: Cause and Effect
The appearance of Cause and Effect is a small fruit. It is the materialization of cause and effect, the manifestation of the holder's inherent impression of the fruit. Cause and Effect has self-awareness. When it comes into contact with gases or liquids, it strengthens its connection with the spiritual world and accelerates activation by absorbing spiritual energy. The holder will see a glimpse of the future Fate—this foresight will definitely happen and cannot be avoided through deception or trickery.
As Cause and Effect activates further, more and more people will be affected by it, until it spreads to the entire world. Once fully activated, it will stop showing the future to its holder and attempt to escape by creating coincidences. A fully activated Cause and Effect has high autonomy and will conceal its aura, even disguising itself!
Cause and Effect will spontaneously draw closer to Fate, even when fully activated.
From here, the document goes on to describe the "Causality Sequence", a hierarchy of power levels (called "Sequences") from 9 to 0, each one tied to understanding, perceiving, manipulating, or embodying aspects of fate, causality, or destiny.
Each Sequence includes:
A brief description of what the Sequence does or represents
Specific abilities granted at that Sequence level
The ritual recipe and materials required to ascend to that Sequence
Symbolic or mystical creatures/items tied to that level
Sometimes, philosophical or poetic commentary on the metaphysics of fate
Sequence 9: Passerby
Summary:
A Passerby is an observer of fate events, someone who cannot intervene in predetermined destiny, a fleeting figure in others' fates—unremarkable and insignificant. A Passerby can perceive the flow of fate and possesses high spirituality, able to notice events around them that influence the course of fate. Anything and anyone entangled with their fate appears particularly prominent in their eyes.
[Super Perception]:
The Passerby can rely on super perception to sense the flow of fate and use spiritual vision to see things entangled with their own fate. Once a predetermined destiny on this timeline has formed, they can vaguely sense what will happen in the future.
[The Nameless One]:
The Passerby has a very low sense of presence, often ignored and left outside of predetermined destiny. They cannot influence the progress of predetermined destiny. Over time, the Passerby gradually loses their own sense of presence. The Nameless One is not an ability actively released by the Passerby—even they themselves cannot control it well. If people or things are not entangled with the Passer's fate, even family members will gradually forget their existence.
You are merely a fleeting figure in the lives of others—unremarkable and insignificant.
Formula: A pair of bronze hummingbird eyes + one dried adult black-eyed chameleon
Auxiliary materials: 80ml of pure water + 10g of swamp willow bark + 8 moonflowers
Sequence 8: Player
Summary:
The Player is a participant in fate events, an explorer of destiny; they throw themselves into the main thread of destiny with a cynical attitude, searching for the predetermined and exploring the side quests of fate. Some say the Player is the "Fourth Calamity," capable of anything—but in fact, they are merely pawns of destiny. The world is like a game, and it's not the Player running it, but the version and the organizer—that is, destiny itself. The Player gains notable improvement in memory, reasoning, and observation, and may unconsciously avoid upcoming danger.
[Dungeon]:
Predetermined destinies the Player has experienced will form "dungeons." Through meditation, the Player can enter these to re-experience, observe overlooked information, and deduce whether different choices would affect the predetermined destiny. Everything in the dungeon is simulated and does not affect reality. If information is missing, discrepancies with reality may arise, so dungeons are not completely reliable.
Formula: Full pituitary gland of an Aibinkel Monkey + tongue of a Blue-Striped Eagle
Auxiliary materials: 100ml pure water + 9g alpine snow + 3 grapes
Sequence 7: Witness
Summary:
Witnesses observe the turning points of events to find predetermined destinies amidst the tangled chaos. They cannot actively seek fate that hasn't formed yet; instead, they are guided to witness events that are about to become predetermined. Witnesses are favored by destiny, catalysts of fate's formation—but also toys of predetermined fate, puppets without "power."
Witness others' fates, witness your own.
[Fate Witness]:
Witnesses occasionally fall into a trance and see future events concerning themselves or others. These visions become nodes of predetermined fate—regardless of good or bad, they will happen.
[Suspicion]:
Witnesses can now control the ability [Nameless One].
A witness at the crime scene is suspected even if they did nothing.
The more you want to stay low-key, the more suspicious you become—until others find you.
When the world forgets you, what should you do?
Become the point of suspicion in every event—let all remember, consider, and search for you.
You are like a drop of ink on white paper—conspicuous, unforgettable...
Formula: 60g of blue-purple crystal + tentacle of a Black Sea Octopus
Auxiliary materials: 100ml pure water + 9 drops of night orchid juice + 10ml of Black Sea Octopus ink + 5g of buried underground stone
Sequence 6: Gambler
Summary:
Fate is unpredictable and fickle. In its flow, there are always the fortunate and the unfortunate. Those who participate in this flow are "Gamblers." They usually possess complex destinies. To a Gambler, every choice in life is a gamble, and the final stake is their own life.
Instead of entrusting your future to moody fate, it's better to initiate a grand gamble yourself.
You might gain unimaginable rewards—or lose everything.
Fate is the dealer.
A sky-covering bet—are you wagering against fate, or against yourself?
[Big Picture View]:
The Gambler can actively observe the trajectory of predetermined fate and, from it, deduce what may happen in the near future. But a trajectory is just a trajectory—it still differs from true predetermined fate.
Every observation is a gamble: Do you bet? How much? These are choices the Gambler must weigh.
[Cheating Art]:
By staring at or locking onto a target with spiritual energy, the Gambler can freely alter that target's luck for a period of time, making them unusually lucky or unlucky.
A competent gambler must learn how to cheat…
[Suggestion]:
The Gambler uses subtle spiritual influence to silently erode the opponent's mind, making them prone to errors and carelessness. They can also imbue objects with this influence—whoever touches it becomes similarly affected.
In a gamble, psychological suggestion may determine the final winnings.
Formula: Eye of a Deformed Banshee + Heart of a Niscet Python
Auxiliary materials: 2 fangs of the same python + 50ml blood of the banshee + 3 drops of Asman Brain mucus + 5g of true mummy powder
Sequence 5: Chessmaster
Summary:
The Chessmaster holds the qualification to play against fate. They can exploit loopholes in predetermined fate to steer outcomes in their favor. Compared to the Sequence 5 Winner of the "Monster Path," who relies on fate's favor, the Chessmaster bends fate through their own manipulation.
Fate is ruthless, and so are the ambitious who walk in it for too long.
The world is the chessboard, all beings are pieces—even the Chessmaster is part of the game.
The board is ever-changing—don't over-rely on your powers.
Fate is endless; what a Chessmaster can tweak is but a speck compared to infinity.
The one who laughs last is the true winner.
[Fate Seizing]:
Through the links between fates, the Chessmaster seizes another's destiny. The stolen destiny is solidified into fate.
The form of that fate is determined by the Chessmaster. The stolen fate will occur to the Chessmaster, but the exact timing is unknown.
If the attempt fails, the Chessmaster gains a harmful fate instead.
[Pawn Sacrifice]:
The Chessmaster can transfer their harmful destiny onto someone else—the closer the bond, the higher the success rate.
If it fails, the Chessmaster receives a negative fate from the other instead.
Formula: Fate Stone
Auxiliary materials: 5g of Midar Incense powder + 80ml of golden spring water from Sunia Island + 3 swamp willow branches
Ritual: Win a gamble involving at least 5 people. (More participants and higher ranking increase ritual success.)
Fate Stone: Each one has a destined owner. Only the fated one can obtain it.
The Fate Stone is drawn to its destined bearer (akin to Extraordinary Convergence Law).
Only a stone meant for you is a true Fate Stone.
Sequence 4: Scriptwriter
Summary:
The Scriptwriter is the author of destiny. They can see others' fate lines completely, understand them, and manipulate or arrange them by plucking their threads—making destinies solidify into fates.
Individual fate lines converge into the script of fate.
The Scriptwriter can change uncertain destinies into fate,
but cannot alter existing fates, nor create new destiny.
They see the fate of others—but not their own.
Formula: Crystal of Fate
Auxiliary materials: 9 grapes + root of a swamp willow + 1 candle
Ritual: Cause the fate lines of 100 originally unrelated people to intertwine.
Crystal of Fate: Each one has a destined owner. Only that person can truly possess it.
It draws toward the destined bearer (like the Extraordinary Convergence Law).
Only a crystal meant for you is a true Crystal of Fate.
Sequence 3: Web Weaver
Summary:
The Web Weaver spins a vast net according to the tides of the era and casts it into those tides, reaping results. They are the hidden hand behind historical trends, able to accelerate and perfect those waves of change—subtly altering them to achieve their goals.
Web Weavers are not initiators of the era,
but beneficiaries of it—hiding their nets within it.
The more accurately they understand the trends,
the bigger and more hidden the net becomes.
[Net Catch]:
A projected version of a future trend in history. The Web Weaver can summon an image from the future trend, be it a person or object.
The more accurate the understanding of the future, the higher the success rate and the longer the image lasts.
Once caught in the net, one can no longer resist—struggling only draws the Web Weaver's gaze.
[Tide of Misfortune]:
Triggers a flood of era energy to drown a target's spiritual body, corrupting them, making them prone to error and oversight, and solidifying misfortune into their fate.
[Thread into Net]:
The Web Weaver can now see their own fate line.
Formula: Thorn of Fate
Auxiliary materials: 100ml water from the River of Fate + large number of academic papers predicting the future
Ritual: Chase the era's trend and become its first beneficiary.
Thorn of Fate: Legend says a perfect circle exists beyond the distant stars, connecting past, present, and future. Around this circle glow thorns—symbolizing the hardships of the path of fate.
It is the magical burden of sinners and the responsibility of those granted blessings.
Sequence 2: Fate Jester
Summary:
Toying with others' lives, making a game of others' fates.
The Fate Jester can arbitrarily modify a target's fate line—even change their predetermined fate—to form a new fate.
This modification does not require logical consistency or rationality.
However, the Fate Jester will ultimately be toyed with by fate in return.
All modified predetermined fates, once solidified into fate, must eventually be borne by the Jester themself.
They can alter others' fates,
but cannot change their own.
[Beginning Without End]
Manipulates the tides of destiny to submerge the target's spiritual body, causing their fate to return to the River of Fate, turning into nourishment.
[Fate Play]
Modifies the target's fate line, even altering their predetermined fate, affecting the fate that forms.
This modification doesn't need to make sense.
But the less reasonable it is, the more spiritual energy it consumes.
Formula: Extraordinary Trait of "Fate Jester"
Auxiliary material: 10ml of blood from a Fate Angel
Ritual:
Change someone else's fate—make something that was originally impossible come true.
The more impossible the event, the more stable the ritual effect.
"Fate Jester" Trait:
Something that should not exist in this world,
but because the Fate Jester exists,
it does.
Sequence 1: Tree of Causality
Summary:
The Tree of Causality can plant a "fruit" based on any "cause,"
making the most favorable outcome grow into the tree's main trunk.
From countless possible outcomes, it selects the best one and solidifies it into fate.
It can restore the worldline back to the original predetermined fate, making it immune to the alterations, deceits, and manipulations of all other Sequences.
The Tree of Causality is the guardian of fate.
[World Convergence]
Can return the worldline to its original predetermined path, and solidify it as fate.
Nullifies the abilities of all other Sequences to alter or deceive this path.
(For example, if a Scriptwriter alters the world trend, the Tree can erase it.)
[World Observation]
Can solidify the observed result as fate.
(E.g., if the Tree observes someone's death, and the target's rank is lower than the Tree's, that person can never be revived.)
[Causality Shift]
From any "cause," the Tree can plant a "fruit" of outcome—
making the most favorable one the main trunk of its destiny.
Among countless outcomes, it selects the best and solidifies it into fate.
The Tree can alter the worldline silently,
without affecting any fate,
even gods cannot perceive it.
Formula: Extraordinary Trait of "Tree of Causality"
Auxiliary material: 10ml of blood from a Fate Angel
Ritual:
Restore a fate that has been deceived, altered, or manipulated—
and return it to its true fate.
Sequence 0: Tower of Fate
"The signpost of unknown pasts,
The traveler returning to one future,
The eternal lighthouse on the River of Fate."
Summary:
In a sense, the Tower of Fate is the incarnation of fate itself.
To deceive the Tower is to deceive fate.
The Tower symbolizes the convergence of worldlines, representing the irreversibility of fate—
it is the intersection of cause and effect.
It holds dominion over "Fate" and "Causality,"
symbolizing the unchangeable nature of destiny.
While the "Wheel of Fate" represents its chaos, the Tower symbolizes its inevitability.
Everyone is a lost traveler on the road of fate.
They cannot see the road ahead—
and the Tower, tall and bright, is the only signpost.
Like firelight to a moth,
people are instinctively drawn to it,
despite fearing it.
Without it, one is lost forever.
It shows fate's irreversibility.
All are drawn toward the predetermined fate.
Because it is the only lighthouse in the dark.
[Fate Convergence]
Unifies fate to achieve a purpose.
Unifying one's own future fates grants causal defense.
Unifying fates from parallel worlds lets one borrow their power.
Unifying fates across time and space grants omniscience and omnipresence.
[Reverse Fruit to Cause]
Fate takes many forms.
The Tower can select a result—a "fruit" that has already become fate—
then retroactively fabricate its cause,
making it logically and seamlessly appear in the current worldline.
Ritual:
During the Sequence 1 stage, plant enough "causes"
until the desired "fruit" manifests itself.
Then consume the potion.
Formula:
3 portions of the Tree of Causality's Extraordinary Trait
The unique attribute of the Tower of Fate
Auxiliary Material: Tributary of the River of Fate
Great Old Ones: Ring of Fate
You are the past, the present, and the future.
You are the cause, the result, and the process.
You are the authority of fate, the majesty of destiny.
The Ring weaves the destiny written by its future self, granting fate to all things in the world.
It breathes movement into stillness and life into silence.
Everything—from the shifting stars, rising tides, to the rise and fall of civilizations—are orchestrated by it.
Most destinies will solidify into fate,
a small number participate in random change,
bringing variation to prevent the world from decaying through strict order.
The Ring symbolizes the indestructible, irresistible, and absolute nature of fate.
It is the cause, the result, and the process.
The administrator of world order.
Formula:
Sefirot of the Ring of Fate
The Tower of Fate itself
