Vesperine and her group were walking back toward their house… well, technically Kai's house, though by now it felt like Vesperine's territory.
Kai's brows pulled together as he stepped closer to her side,
"Vesp… what kind of deal did you make with that bastard?"
Leon exhaled sharply,
"Yeah. You kept everything to yourself. What exactly did you promise?"
Finnian's usually gentle expression carried a quiet hurt beneath the surface as he added,
"You should have trusted us with the details, darling. We are not outsiders. If something binds you, it binds us too."
Vesperine did not answer immediately. Her heels clicked against the stone as she slowed her steps, her gaze drifting somewhere distant, calculating.
When she finally spoke, her voice carried a thoughtful murmur.
"The way he reacted when I mentioned the Void Empire… It didn't seem like he was the one who sent them."
