At the Eishu Juvenile Detention center in western Tokyo city, Megumi, Yuji, and Nobara were assigned to an emergency rescue mission due to the sudden appearance of a Curse Womb.
They were initially tasked with the rescue of the inmates; unfortunately, the womb had already birthed a Special Grade Curse spirit who had made the center its Domain.
Not long after their entrance, Nobara is abducted by a pool of darkness, and the special grade curse appears in front of the duo.
Yuji tries to attack, but loses his hand to the curse. He tries to appeal to Sukuna, the king of curses, to take him over and avoid death, but is met with rejection.
Seeing no other alternative, Yuji asks Megumi to find and escape with Nobara while he keeps the curse distracted. Megumi agrees reluctantly and leaves, allowing Yuji to confront the curse.
Unfortunately, Yuji was not a match for the curse, and he was sent flying into the wall. He attempts several times to fight back but is unsuccessful.
Yuji is pinned to the wall as he contemplates how weak he truly is. He gets up, surprising the curse spirit as he tries to muster his curse energy to attack, but is easily blocked by the opponent.
However, before Yuji could despair, he hears a howl from Megumi's dog, which meant that they had escaped.
Without the risk of harming his friends, he releases control of his body to Sukuna, who found it annoying.

After successfully rescuing Nobara and escaping the detention center, Megumi hands the injured Nobara to Ijichi so she can get treatment.
"Please expand the evacuation area to ten kilometers," Megumi says to Ijichi just as he is about to drive away.
"What about you?"
"I will wait for Itadori to return"
"I see." Ijichi nods "I have already called for backup he should be on his way here"
"Backup!? Who?"
Megumi was curious as to who was coming. With the appearance of the curse womb, they will need a grade 1 sorcerer or higher to deal with the situation.
"Kenji-san"
"Kenji!!! Is he back?"
Megumi was shocked as he wasn't expecting to hear Kenji's name.
"Yes, I really didn't want to call him as he just returned, but he is the only one available"
"Hmm, that's good." Megumi was reassured "He should be able to take care of the situation"
"Okay, I will take Nobara to the hospital, take care" Ijichi says as he drives off.
As Megumi stands at the entrance wandering when Kenji will arrive, he notices the Domain has disappeared and concludes that Yuji has defeated the Curse and all he now had to do was wait for Yuji.
But suddenly Sukuna appears by his side.
"Sorry, but he's not coming back."
Megumi stiffens with fear, not knowing what to do.
"Don't be so frightened" Sukuna notices his fear. "I'm in a great mood right now. Let's chat for a bit"
He walks in front of Megumi at a leisurely pace.
"The brat is having trouble taking back control. That's what he gets for trying to use me without a pact"
"But then it is just a matter of time" he suddenly pauses and rips his shirt off
"So, I thought of what I can do right now."
Suddenly, he plunges his hand into his chest and rips out his heart. Megumi is shocked at what had just occurred.
Sukuna holds the heart up with an evil grin on his face.
"I am taking his body hostage"
"Hostage!!?" Megumi asked.
"Yeah, I can live without this, but not for the brat" Sukuna explains as he throws the heart away "Switching means he dies"
He then proceeds to bring out his cursed finger.
"Also, for good measure" as he swallows the finger.
'Sukuna's finger!! The special-grade curse spirit in there must have consumed it'
Megumi thought as his eyes darts around as he looks for a way out.
"With that, I'm free as a bird" Sukuna grins "You can be frightened now"
"Cause, I'm going to kill you now"
Hearing Sukuna's intent to kill him, Megumi suddenly stopped feeling anxious. He starts having thoughts on how unfair reality was, as he remembers the situation that his sister is in.
"You don't get it" Megumi says as he gets into his combat stance "Itadori is coming back. Even if it means he will die."
"Hehehe, you give him too much credit" Sukuna laughs as he mocks Yuji "he was scared out of his mind as he was near death. He doesn't have the guts to kill himself"
'His arm is restored!'
Megumi notices that the severed that Yuji had loss in his battle with the curse spirit.
'Sukuna must be able to use reverse curse technique' several thoughts passed through Megumi's mind
'Even if he can live without a heart, he should still be damaged. I will force him to heal Itadori's before he returns'
Even with a plan in mind, Megumi's hands were shaking. He wasn't sure that he would be able to make Sukuna believe that he needed his heart to fight him, as he wasn't powerful enough.
Suddenly, he remembered what Ijichi had told him.
"Kenji is coming"
Without hesitation, he made a hand sign, creating a shadow puppet of a rabbit.
{Escape Rabbit}
A massive swarm of rabbit shikigami fills the area, creating an opportunity for Megumi, who dashed into the detention center.
"Running away!!?" Sukuna's voice came from behind
With a swing of his arm, Sukuna destroys a large number of the rabbit shikigami. He then rushes at Megumi.
Seeing Sukuna coming, Megumi summons {Nue} and has the bird fly at him.
"What is this!!? Where did all that fighting spirit go!?"
Sukuna easily sidesteps, dodging the bird's attack. He speeds up, instantly appearing in front of Megumi.
Rather than panicking and stopping, he rushes at Sukuna, planning to engage.
Sukuna is shocked at Megumi's bravery, as it was not normal for a shikigami users to fight in close combat.
They exchange several blows, and Sukuna blocks all of Megumi's attacks and goes for a counter. He delivers a powerful punch that sends Megumi flying back.
Contrary to Sukuna's expectation, Megumi utilizes the opportunity to create distance. Before he could crash, Megumi summons his {Great Serpent} shikigami, which appears and attempts to swallow Sukuna.
At that same time, {Nue} fly down carrying Megumi, creating more distance from the kings of Curses.
"Running again!?"
Sukuna, who is ensnared in the jaws of the {Great Serpent}, grins. He easily rips the {Great Serpent} head into pieces.
Megumi hadn't gone far before Sukuna leapt into the sky, catching up to him. As Sukuna was about to hammer him into the ground, {Nue} lets go of Megumi as he takes the hit.
Megumi crashes into the sides of the detention center. He quickly releases {Nue} before it succumbs to injury.
"This is boring"
Sukuna walks up slowly towards Megumi with his hands in his pocket. He could easily see that Megumi is stalling for time.
"I don't know who you are waiting for because honestly it doesn't matter. I will kill you here and wait for the reinforcement to come and kill them too"
Sukuna says with a menacing grin that never left his face as he inches towards Megumi.
Megumi was in too much of a disadvantage, as Sukuna was overwhelming him in both strength and speed. As he was now, he would not be able to delay any more.
Sitting in the rubble, Megumi remembered his sister and how she was unfairly taken from the world. Seeing as he was about to die, he could help but lament how unfair the world is.
'I can't hold any longer'
Not knowing when his reinforcement would arrive made Megumi start thinking of using his final resort.
Getting up from within the rubble. Megumi clenched his fist as his Curse energy swelled up, surprising Sukuna.
"Oh!! To think you still have something in store"
Sukuna was amused while at the same time, he was able to perceive the potential that he holds.
Just as Megumi was about to summon the shikigami, a figure landed between him and Sukuna. Before they could even react, with a wave of the figure's hand, Sukuna was blasted away.
"It seems I am not too late!"
Of course, the figure that arrived was Gojo Kenji.
