Alexander stood still for a long moment after the car had disappeared from his sight.
The noise of the set had faded into the background, people moving, equipment being packed, voices blending into one indistinct hum but none of it reached him. His attention remained fixed on the single message glowing faintly on his screen.
"Ethan Blackwood has joined Carnage."
Nothing more. No elaboration. No speculation. Just information. And yet, it was enough.
His jaw tightened almost imperceptibly as he reread the line once again, not because he hadn't understood it the first time, but because of what it implied beneath the surface.
