"I'm going out with friends , if that's okay with you guys."
As soon as Lana mentions wanting to go out with "friends," Candy shoots me a look. I know that look—it means something's up. Before I can even ask, Candy leans in and says,
"I overheard her talking to Price, making plans."
I pause for a moment, trying to process. Lana and Price? That doesn't sit right with me. After everything that happened, the way Price has been acting... I don't trust her, and now Lana's getting closer to her? I force a smile in Lana's direction, but inside, I'm already uneasy.
"Are you sure you want to go out?"
I ask her, trying to sound casual but failing to hide the concern in my voice. Candy remains silent, but I know she's thinking the same thing—this is a bad idea.
I really thought me and this girl had finally found a common ground. Her voice is mocking.
She raises an eyebrow and says sharply,
"I don't need your permission to go out, you know."
