Chapter 97 - Chapter 96

|3rd POV|

"Row! Dammit! Row!"

Stannis roars as the remaining ships set sail away from the battlefield. He decided to make a quick decision to get away at the appearance of the cannon on Solaris' fleet. Stannis knows that he needs more ships to reach the enemy, and to do that, he needs to wait for the remaining ships of the fleet to arrive.

Stannis and his fleet sail through the Bay of Seals. He ordered his fleet to set sail for Karhold. He will meet with the rest of the fleet there and report the news to his brother, something he doesn't want but is necessary.

"I know it! You are always a failure, Stannis!"

Stannis grits his teeth as he hears Robert insult him endlessly.

"Give applause to someone who is never successful in his life!"

"Enough!"

Stannis roars and slams his hand on the table. He glares at Robert and says.

"I've done with your judgment, brother. I've done my job and even given you the information regarding their weapons. I am done. I am leaving."

Without saying more, he stands up and leaves the dining hall. His vassal follows him out and leaves the dining hall. While the others do not care about him leaving, Jon Arryn has a different opinion.

He knows that Stannis is not in the wrong here. In fact, he is doing the right thing. Rather than attacking with less than half of the ships, waiting for the rest of the fleet to arrive before attacking in an all-out attack is better.

They might have their full power now, but have lost a capable admiral.

"Robert, I think you should invite Stannis back. We need him in this fight."

"Bah! We don't need him. We can do this ourselves. Those barbarians are nothing to us. We can destroy them without his help."

Jon looks at Robert, and he knows that he is already drunk. Nothing can change his mind now. The only thing he can do now is to hope they are able to get through this battle without a problem.

When they are ready, the Royal Fleet departs from Karhold; this time, there are twice the number of ships. There are also twice the number of personnel now, and with the information from Stannis, they are aiming for the naval base on Skane Island.

Instead of going through the blockade and immediately going for Fenris, they will take the base on Skane Island and use it as a logistic route in the land war.

"Row! Row! Row until you reach them!"

Robert roars as he watches his ships sailing through the sea. He frowned a little at the different information from Stannis. Instead of a long formation that goes from one land to another, they separate the fleet into two large flotillas.

One protects Fenris, and the second protects the Skane Fort.

It is something that makes Jon happy because fighting half of the enemies is better than fighting against the full might of the enemy. However, he made sure to order a quarter of their ships to stay behind in case the ships near Fenris set sail and attack them from their rear.

"The path is open! Row! Faster!"

Robert screams, and his ship starts to row to the fort. Forty ships are sailing through the battlefield and reaching the land. With a roar, Robert and his soldiers charge at the soldiers who are waiting for them on the beach.

The two forces meet, and they start to beat each other. Robert swings his warhammer and crushes the head of the soldier in front of him. The Kingsguard marches alongside him and ensures no soldiers get near the king.

"Don't let them get near! Kill them all!"

Leman Russ, the new Lord of Fenris, roars and charges forward with the Sea Dragon Unit. He swings his sword at Robert, who greets his attack with his warhammer. The two fighters exchange blows, but the longer they fight, the more noticeable it becomes who will win the duel.

Robert swings his hammer one more time, but Leman parries the attack, making Robert lose his balance. With a roar, Leman thrust his sword at Robert. Lucky for the stag king, he managed to dodge, but it was not fast enough, as the sword stabbed his shoulder.

"ARGGHH!"

"Die! Stag King!"

However, before Leman can move his sword deeper, Ser Arys Oakheart charges forward with his sword in hand. He attacks Leman with his sword and puts him in a defensive position.

"Ser Barristan! Leave him to me! Take the king away!"

"No, you don't!"

He tried to finish the job and kill the king, but Ser Arys blocked him and forced him to fight. The two of them start their duel as Robert and Barristan leave the battlefield. However, their duel is cut short when one of the Sea Dragon Unit gets near him.

"My lord! We need to return to the fort! We need to prepare for the siege!"

"Fuck!"

Leman roars and pushes Ser Arys away before running alongside his soldier. They enter the fort and make sure the Seven Kingdoms soldiers do not enter the fort. Ser Arys releases a sigh and watches as the enemies retreat back to the fort.

He turns around and regroups with the others. He and the others start the siege.

When he regroups with the other Kingsguard, he can see Robert get taken care of by a small army of Maesters. Barristan looks at him and says.

"Ser Arys! You are alive."

"It was nothing, Ser Barristan. How is his majesty?"

"He is doing better. That sword is dangerous. It pierces through the plate armor, chainmail, and even the padded clothes underneath."

"Aye. I notice it as well. Look at this."

Ser Arys shows his sword, and Barristan can see a deep cut on the edge of the sword.

"It gets like that after I parry his attack. If he manages to land a good hit, my sword will be cut into two."

"Their swords are dangerous. I also noticed the same thing from one of the soldiers I fought with."

"What kind of sword is that? How can it cut through steel and iron?"

"I don't know, but they are dangerous."

"And valuable."

Arys Oakheart might not be a greedy person, but he is someone who lives and dies by his sword. A sword that can cut through something as strong as his sword is something that he wants.

And if that something is a sword, it is something that he needs.

"Aye. However, we can talk about that later. For now, we need to prepare for the incoming siege."

Arys nods and walks to the camp.

While they are preparing to attack the Skane port, they do not know that Viserys and Melisandre are preparing their own attack.

"Are you ready, Melisandre?"

"Yes, My Lord. I am ready."

Viserys nods his head and releases a loud whistle. A second later, Alduin lands next to them and nuzzles him. An affectionate rumbling coming out of his throat. Viserys pats his head for a second before climbing up Alduin and sitting on his neck.

He also helps Melisandre and lets her sit behind him.

"Fly, Alduin. Fly."

With that order, Alduin flies south. Their target? The Wall and the Gift. If the Stag King attacks his territory, he will also attack theirs, and unlike the Stag King, he only needs Melisandre and Alduin to take over.
