Chapter 465 - Ch 271 - Naruto Vs Neji (3)

Naruto stood still, his palm extended, chest heaving. His hand trembled, blood dripping from his knuckles, but the grin on his face was bright, and that made the moment burn into the minds of every spectator.

"See, Neji…" Naruto said softly, his voice carrying strangely far in the silence that followed the cheer. "You're not the only one who's grown."

Hiashi's eyes shook, his hands gripping the railing tight. Even he, the stern leader of the Hyūga, had trouble believing what he saw.

Hanabi's lips parted, her small fists tightening at her chest. A strange, new emotion welled within her. There was shock, awe, and a flicker of admiration she couldn't suppress.

Up in the waiting room, Sasuke's teeth clenched. His dark eyes burned, the sight igniting a fire in his chest he couldn't name.

'Damn you, Naruto… you never stop, do you? Even here… even now… you keep getting stronger.'

Naruto lowered his hand at last, shaking out his fingers. His grin softened just a little as he looked down at Neji on the ground.

"Get up if you can, Neji. If not…" His eyes narrowed with sharp, unshakable resolve. "Then this match is over."

Genma stepped forward, his sandals crunching faintly against the cracked dirt. His sharp eyes scanned Neji, whose body still lay sprawled, his chest rising and falling heavily.

The Hyūga prodigy twitched faintly, but it was clear that he could not rise.

Genma let out a small breath, raised his hand high, and declared for all to hear:

"The winner of this match is—Uzumaki Naruto!"

The words struck the arena like a hammer.

For a heartbeat, the entire stadium was filled with silence before it erupted with cheers.

The stadium exploded into thunderous cheers and cries, voices overlapping in a sea of praise.

"HE DID IT!!"

"That kid is unbelievable!!"

"What a fight! What a match!!"

People clapped their hands in the stands and shouted Naruto's name excitedly, clearly impressed by him.

In the midst of the chaos, Kushina shot up from her seat, her fiery red hair whipping behind her as she cupped her hands around her mouth.

"That's my boy!! THAT'S MY SON—DATTEBANE!!" She screamed, her voice somehow cutting through the crowd like a kunai through silk.

The people around her instinctively flinched back, eyes widening at the force of her spirit. More than a few even shuffled their seats away from the dangerous aura radiating from her motherly pride.

Naruto's grin softened as his sharp blue eyes found her in the sea of faces. Blood still dripped from his knuckles, streaking down his wrist. He lifted the battered hand slowly, clenched it into a proud fist, and extended it toward her, his grin wide and boyish, filled with the same warmth and charm she had always known.

"Mom!" He mouthed silently, the word clear even without sound.

Kushina's heart clenched, her eyes glistening for the briefest moment before she threw her hands in the air, laughing proudly. "That's my son, Naruto!! Show them what an Uzumaki is made of!!"

Not far from her, Mikoto Uchiha sat gracefully, her lips curved into a soft, amused smile. "You should be proud, Kushina. He fought brilliantly. He has Minato's calm… but all of your fire."

Kushina blinked, her cheeks suddenly warming. She scratched the side of her face, a sheepish grin tugging at her lips. "Eheh… don't tease me like that, Mikoto. I'm not used to all this attention in front of my best friend…"

Mikoto chuckled gently, her dark eyes warm. "You always loved attention, Kushina. But seeing you flustered… is a rare treat."

Meanwhile, Naruto's classmates were a storm of reactions.

Kiba leapt halfway over the railing, punching the air. "Damn it!! I never thought the fight would be so intense. I always knew Naruto would crush Neji!! But man, it was awesome..."

Woof!

Akamaru barked in agreement, tail wagging furiously.

Choji shoved another chip in his mouth but grinned ear-to-ear, his eyes glimmering. "I was sure you'd win, but wow… that was incredible, Naruto."

Ino had her hands clasped tightly, eyes sparkling. "I knew it! I said from the start Naruto would win! Didn't I say it? He's always this amazing!"

Hinata sat quietly, her eyes fixed on the blond-haired figure, her pale eyes shimmering with pride and something deeper. Her lips tilted upwards into a charming smile as she whispered softly to herself, "Naruto-sama… you are the best. How can nii-san ever beat you?"

Up in the waiting area, Sasuke kept his gaze locked on Naruto, his fingers gripping the railing so tightly his knuckles turned white. His dark eyes burned, conflicted emotions twisting in his chest.

'Damn it… you just keep pulling ahead, don't you?'

Back on the field, Naruto dropped his fist slowly and let his arm fall limp at his side. His chest rose and fell, sweat and blood dripping freely, but his grin never dimmed. He stood tall and proud in the center of the battlefield, basking in the cheers of the entire village.

------

Back on the field

Neji lay on the ground, his chest rising and falling heavily, the bitter taste of defeat still fresh on his tongue. Yet instead of anger or frustration, a low chuckle escaped his lips. His pale eyes softened, and the chuckle grew into a laugh, startling the crowd and even Naruto, who had just turned away to catch his breath.

"Ha… haha… incredible," Neji muttered, the sound shaky but genuine. He tilted his head to look at Naruto, his lips curling into a faint, almost peaceful smile. "You… you're really something. You're a genius, Naruto… just like your father, the Fourth Hokage."

The words rang across the ground like a bell, drawing silence from the surrounding spectators.

Even Genma, who was about to signal for medics, paused with raised brows, his gaze flicking curiously between the two boys.

Naruto's smile faltered. His fists clenched at his sides, blood dripping slowly down his knuckles, staining the dust beneath his feet. His blue eyes narrowed, sharp yet heavy with something deeper than anger. He took a few steps forward, his shadow falling over Neji's prone form.

"Don't…" Naruto said firmly, his voice low, almost carrying a growl beneath it. He let out a sharp exhale, shaking his head. "Don't twist it like that, Neji."

Neji blinked, surprised at the sudden gravity in Naruto's tone.

"I'm not standing here because I'm a genius," Naruto continued, his voice growing louder. "And you didn't lose because I'm smarter or faster or anything like that."

He placed a hand over his chest, right where his heart pounded violently, as if declaring its defiance to the world. "You lost because you've been chaining yourself down with words like fate… destiny… genius. You built your own cage and locked yourself inside. On the other hand, I…"

His lips twisted into a faint, self-mocking smile. "I never had the luxury to waste time on those things."

For a moment, his words hung heavy in the air.

Naruto's eyes softened, his gaze no longer that of an opponent but of someone who understood the weight Neji carried. "My goal's always been the same. Since the very beginning… it hasn't changed one bit. And I'll keep running toward it, no matter what anyone calls me."

Neji's pupils trembled. His breath caught as Naruto crouched slightly, lowering his voice, almost as if sharing a secret.

"People might call us geniuses," Naruto said with a bitter chuckle, "but you should know better than anyone, Neji… what we've had to sacrifice to get even this far. Being a so-called genius only takes you a few steps forward. After that… It's nothing but pure, bone-breaking hard work that decides how high you climb."

The words pierced deeper than any strike could.

Neji stared up at Naruto, his mind replaying countless hours of merciless training, bruised hands, cold nights, and the suffocating whispers of fate that had always haunted him. And yet here stood Naruto with his eyes blazing with unshakable conviction.

"…Heh," Neji breathed out, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips again, though this time, it wasn't bitter but was light. "You're still… impossible, Naruto."

Naruto grinned, scratching the back of his head despite the blood still dripping from his knuckles.

"Heh, yeah, I get that a lot." His grin softened, though, his eyes never leaving Neji's. "But that's why… I'll keep moving forward."

Genma finally exhaled, shaking his head at the exchange, though a small smirk tugged at his lips.
