"Captain!!" the cadets beamed from their spots, their voices mixing in unison as the wind swept them by.
Lyra's violet gaze flicked toward their direction for a moment before shifting further down the ruined street at a pile of rubble where another female cadet had her head poking out.
In a single glance, Lyra swept the entire vicinity like it was an afterthought, the voices and stares of admiration from the cadets melting into the gloomy background.
She turned, thrust the massive greatsword into the ground, and said:
"Get back."
The ground shook as a mild tremor rocked its surface. The elder god, sent crashing into rubble a few seconds ago, erupted like a geyser from beneath the pile.
Its massive grotesque body rose like a morbid monolith, unleashing a bloodcurdling roar more akin to a screech from an eldritch horror.
—Pa!
Lyra raised the rough scarf tied around her neck closer to her face and snapped her fingers at the Abomination as it lunged from the rubble toward her.
