Chapter 170 - A New World!

Chapter 170: A New World!

The voice disappeared, and the sensation of chaos receded like a tide.

Only when his senses returned to normal did Shiro realize something.

From beginning to end, he had never moved from where he stood.

The supposed transformation of heaven and earth had merely been an illusion created when his senses were thrown into confusion.

Once he understood that, Shiro was reminded yet again of just how insignificant he still was.

He might already qualify as a world-class powerhouse in this world.

Yet that unknown woman could interfere with his senses from several worlds away.

Shiro could even vaguely sense that if she truly wished to, she could probably kill him from that same distance.

Strangely, however, the woman had seemed extremely interested in him after seeing his appearance.

At the very least, judging by how she had specifically warned him not to tamper with the gate, she probably did not harbor much hostility toward him.

Still, Shiro could not shake the feeling that an even greater crisis was waiting somewhere ahead.

And it might have something to do with the photograph that mysterious girl deliberately took before leaving.

With the strength she had displayed, she could have secretly taken his picture without Shiro ever noticing.

So why deliberately tell him about it under the excuse of collecting payment?

It was almost...

"Almost like she deliberately wanted me to know she was taking my picture to do something bad with it..."

Shiro silently sighed.

She was already gone, so there was no way he could drag her back and question her.

Whether he could even find her was one problem.

Whether he could beat her after finding her was another.

Shiro had no interest in actively seeking death.

'Still, that voice probably belonged to the person who created this thing.'

He silently complained to himself.

Even now, Shiro still remembered the vow he had once made—One day, he would kick the creator's ass as hard as possible with his boot.

Unfortunately, judging from the tiny glimpse of her power he had just witnessed, he was still absurdly far from accomplishing that goal.

With revenge temporarily impossible, Shiro returned his attention to the Transmigration Gate.

Having learned from his previous experiences, he stopped the number displayed on the gate as soon as it reached [7].

That was the smallest number available.

It also represented the number of days required for a round trip between worlds.

Once the Transmigration Gate located a brand-new coordinate, golden light engulfed Shiro's body.

When the light faded—Both the man and the gate had disappeared.

...

Traveling between worlds was a strange sensation.

It felt like being blindfolded and stuffed into a vehicle moving at terrifying speed.

Anyone prone to motion sickness would probably vomit immediately after crossing worlds.

After another bout of violent spinning, Shiro instantly spread both arms and stretched his entire body wide.

This posture made free-falling from high altitude much easier.

After learning his lesson from the previous two times, Shiro had mentally prepared himself before coming here.

'Hmph. Fool me twice, shame on me.'

'There's no way the same prank will work on me a third time!'

He thought smugly.

Until—

"Mommy, what is that big brother doing?"

"Keep walking. Children shouldn't copy that!"

"..."

The conversation between a mother and child abruptly entered his ears, dragging Shiro back into the cruel abyss known as reality.

There was good news and bad news.

The good news—This time, he had not been thrown several thousand meters into the sky.

The bad news—Because of his sudden appearance and bizarre pose, everyone nearby was staring at him like he was some kind of monkey.

Shiro slowly lowered his arms and awkwardly surveyed his surroundings.

The atmosphere of this new world felt somewhat similar to Orario.

People of all kinds walked through distinctly otherworldly streets while wearing an equally diverse variety of unusual clothing.

However, there was one major difference from Orario.

Most intelligent races there still possessed largely human characteristics.

Even demi-humans were generally things like catgirls with human bodies, cat ears, and tails.

This world seemed far closer to the stereotypical fantasy people imagined.

More than half of its demi-human population looked almost like animals that had gained intelligence and learned to imitate human civilization.

For example, several people currently staring at Shiro looked almost exactly like upright, walking lizardmen.

Ordinary humans were present as well.

There were also demi-humans like Bete who looked more human than beast.

But amid the enormous crowd, neither group appeared to form the majority.

While Shiro observed his surroundings, the pedestrians were examining him as well.

From their perspective—

The human who had suddenly appeared while making some bizarre pose was clearly wearing clothing far beyond what ordinary citizens could afford.

The products of modern industrial society looked incredibly out of place in this technologically backward fantasy world.

Only noble lords who needed specialized dragon carriages just to visit a friend might wear clothing that looked this expensive.

People who spent years practicing swordsmanship also tended to develop a distinctive presence.

The exact impression differed between individuals.

Take Edelweiss, for example.

Even someone who did not recognize her would immediately assume she was someone extraordinary after sensing her cold, refined aura.

Shiro possessed a somewhat similar presence.

Combined with his handsome appearance, it only reinforced the crowd's assumptions.

People immediately began moving aside.

A clear path opened before him.

None of the ordinary citizens wanted to anger this mysterious noble who appeared to be experimenting with some strange form of magic and bring unnecessary trouble upon themselves.

Shiro quickly understood what they were thinking from their behavior.

So naturally—He took the convenient excuse they had handed him.

Shiro raised his chin slightly and crossed his arms over his chest.

He adopted an imperious expression while surveying the surging crowd.

Anyone his gaze passed over generally offered him a humble smile before quickly leaving.

Within only a few minutes, almost all the ordinary citizens afraid of offending the "noble lord" had scattered.

Only then did Shiro finally have time to think about how he should explore this new world.

But at that moment—

An extremely excited male voice suddenly caught his attention.

"AAAAAH!!! Why did two people have to get transported to another world together?!"

"Now there's no way to tell which one of us is supposed to be the main protagonist!"
