Sir Washington shook his head, muttering something under his breath. 'Impossible. I must be overthinking.'
He took another sip of his coffee, as though to ground himself in the present, and finally waved a hand dismissively. "Forget it. I must be mistaken."
Grace cast a curious glance at Jace and in response, he reached over and rested a hand on her knee. Though the contact appeared casual, it offered her the comfort she sought at that moment and Jace could see the gratitude in her eyes when their eyes met briefly.
