Trinity stares towards the large group that's now formed, every gaze growing the weight of expectation placed on her by Morigain. Then again, she came here with the intention of liberating lost souls and the prospect of finding warriors among them, so the expectation doesn't come from her alone. It also comes from her own choice; one she is now second guessing. She suddenly feels like her legs are jelly, and she staggers, but an unexpected hand grabs her firmly.
"As usual, buckling under the pressure of things that matter." Judgmental brown eyes stare her down, but oddly, Trinity doesn't feel the usual malice in them. "Don't think so hard, you're not that smart. Just speak honestly and tell them your intentions. Then let them decide their fate."
"Seleyna…." Trinity never expected she'd be the one giving her a pep talk, nor can she fathom why, but that doesn't matter now. "Yeah, why am I trying to act so competent?" Trinity steadies herself on her feet. "I'm just as lost as everyone else, and perhaps even a bit crazy." She stands taller and faces the crowd. "My name is Trinity, and I'm here to help you decide your own fate."
"Are you the new Death Sinner Queen?" A tiny voice asks, her small figure peeking at her from behind an older woman's leg. "Mama said you abandoned us. Will you really save us?"
Trinity's heart fills with sorrow upon seeing such a pure and fragile soul trapped in this place, but she's not the only one. There are several other children among the crowd, but she appears to be the youngest of all. She's a living soul, yet her mother is clearly a transient. Which can only mean one thing. Her mother committed suicide while pregnant with her. She was born in this realm without any true sin of her own, and so she exists as a living soul with potential to be reborn as a true human. Her mother however…. Trinity's chest feels heavy with the dread of it.
"Boss, I'm here!" Sinae comes running up to her and grabs her arm affectionately. "Miss me?"
"Sinae? Of course, but what are you doing here?" Just as she asks, Symone walks up beside her.
"I was confident that you would succeed, so I figured you'd want help from your adoring pup."
"I see." She feels suddenly bashful, but only for a moment. "So, is that why you also came Sel-." She begins to address Seleyna but falls silent once she realizes she's no longer behind her. "Oh."
"Seleyn is a fickle one my dear, don't take it personally." Symone offers Trinity some assurance. "Though, I didn't ask her to come." She smirks subtlety. "Anyway, it looks like you've decided."
Trinity nods, trying to ignore the feeling of lost warmth on her shoulder; the same spot where Seleyna's hand was previously. "I have. I'm going to liberate these lost souls and offer them the choice to either settle in Limbo, pass on peacefully, or return to the human world if they meet the conditions. Along the way, I hope to recruit more warriors for my Death Knights and the cause."
"Good. Then I think you should get started." She glances at the crowd. "You have much to do."
"So, what do you need me to do Boss?" Sinae asks, eagerly willing to offer her full assistance.
"Hmm. We'll need to sort everyone according to their desired fate." She ponders a moment and then with the glow of energy in her palms, she manifests wooden sticks of varied colors. "Please begin handing all of these out." She gives half to Sinae. "Symone, may I ask you to do this half?"
"Of course, I don't mind, but…." Before she can say more, Seleyna is once again beside her.
"Don't you dare ask Symone to do such lowly work! Surely you haven't forgotten her status?" She snatches the sticks from Trinity's hands. "I'll take care of it instead, so come to me first."
"Oh right…sorry." Trinity can only answer in this way, as she's still unsure how to deal with her.
"Hey! How about you show some respect! Have you forgotten Trinity's status?!" Sinae barks.
Seleyna scoffs. "What status? You mean as Death Sinner Queen? She's done nothing to earn it. It's merely a title she's gained as a birthright, nothing more. When she proves herself as a proper queen, then I'll show her all due respect. Unlike you, I won't worship her just so she'll fuck me."
Trinity feels the grip around her arm tighten as Sinae's jaw drops and her face goes red. "Sina-."
"You know what bitch; I'm really getting tired of your attitude!" She lets go of Trinity and starts to approach her. "If you want to act like Miss Symone's bodyguard, then consider me Trinity's!"
Seleyna stomps over to her, the two now face to face and sneering with animosity. Despite her towering over her, Sinae doesn't flinch or budge at Seleyna's intimidation. "Just try it shortie."
"Come on guys, that's enough! There's no reason for things to get so out of line. Let's just take a moment to calm down and focus on the task. We can discuss this later." Trinity goes unheard.
The two heated women grab at each other's collars, ready to tussle, but then they're forced apart by the sudden appearance of a sharp spear between them. This is effective in getting them to turn their attention away from each other and towards the perceived threat. Chilling eyes meet theirs.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what melodrama you two have going on and I frankly don't care. What I do care about is that there's hundreds of souls here that need to have their fates decided and you two are stalling that. I kindly ask you to please save it for your own time and focus on the task."
Sinae wears a frustrated expression while Seleyna wears one of aggravation, but both women yield and release each other. Seleyna is the first to speak. "You're right, this exchange has been rather juvenile, I must be a fool for humoring it." She forcibly grabs Morigain's hand and smacks the sticks into her palm, curling her fingers around them for her while she simply raises a curious brow. "I'm sure you won't mind helping with this, since this is such an important task to you." She drops her hand from her grip and turns away without a second glance. She promptly leaves.
"Oh dear…." Symone breaks the silence and awkward tension of the room. "I'm sure you've all got things from here, so I'll take my leave as well." She turns to walk away but takes a moment to face Trinity. She leans against her ear. "Her bite is indeed sharp, but even she can be tamed."
Trinity's ear perks up in surprise. "Are you saying-?" Before she can continue, Symone places a finger against her lips. Trinity is immediately silenced. Saying nothing further, Symone leaves.
Trinity remains silent for several moments as she processes all that just transpired until Morigain interrupts her. "Sorry Trinity, but if we're going to do this, I think it's best we get started, yes?"
"Ugh, right! Sinae, you good to start?" The young woman looks up apologetically at Trinity.
"Sorry Boss, I lost my cool there. That bit-, woman is so rude! I'm ready now. Please go on."
"It's ok Sinae, I understand you did it for my sake too. Thank you." She once again faces the crowd. "Everyone, I'm terribly sorry for that unsightly scene you just witnessed. With any big change there's bound to be tension, but I'll do my best to better mitigate it going forward. For now however, I ask that you all begin to make your choices." She forms the same 4 sticks in her hand and holds them up. "Please take a red stick if you wish to pass on to the realm aligned with your current soul status. Take yellow if you want to remain in Limbo and be judged later. Take green if you want to return to the human realm. Take blue if you're undecided. Now, let's start."
