Dimitri stared at his hand. He'd lost a few of his fingers, but he'd been given a special glove that made things easier. So, he didn't feel much of a setback.
Clenching his hand and unclenching it, he plopped into the sofa in his room, gaze fixed on the ceiling.
He couldn't stop thinking of Adeline. She was his wife, how could she be with his enemy? And to top it off, she was pregnant for him. Still, he didn't want to believe whatever idea his father was putting into his head.
Adeline loved him and he loved her too. Maybe something he didn't recall had gone wrong. Maybe there was a reason things were like this. He just had to get a chance and have a talk with her to figure all this out.
There was nothing to be mad at for now.
"I'll trust her," he said to himself, before letting out a soft breath.
A knock suddenly came at his door. Turning his head, he mouthed, "Come in."
