Sabretooth's plan was to simply trip him at the entrance by using Minerva's spatial magic. But the moment he fell down, his magic activated on its own and destroyed the entire guild, defeating everyone inside it.
They weren't even able to ask for compensation because one of the reporters was holding a camera that detected magic, and it clearly captured the magic that tripped Gildarts.
Thankfully, Gildarts just laughed it off and did not pursue it. Otherwise, it would have been an embarrassment for Sabretooth if the media had published the truth about the accident.
The entire guild was seething in anger at the incident because the whole guild had gotten injured along with its members, implying that the entire Sabretooth guild could be taken down by a simple accidental attack from Gildarts alone.
Guild Master Jiemma then ordered Sting and Rogue to attack the two dragons present within Fairy Tail. He believed that after killing them, he could tell the council that they were taking care of two dragons before they could proliferate and increase in population, which would bring significant risk back to the world.
Sting and Rogue had agreed to wash away their humiliation.
But the battle had ended even before it began.
With a single roar, both the twin dragons were taken out very easily.
Sting and Rogue remained in the hospital for the rest of the matter. But from what they learned after being discharged, Fairy Tail's Guild Master had made a visit to their guild.
The twin dragons had no idea what happened, but the change in expression on their other guild members' faces gave them a small idea about what had happened there.
"Gildarts and those dragons may not be something we can handle. But the others may not be that bad. Surely the rest of the members might be weak since they did not even look like they aged in the last seven years they were trapped on Tenrou," Sting argued, trying to bring back a bit of confidence.
"Have you forgotten the lacrima recording that was released seven years ago?" Rogue warned with a hint of seriousness in his otherwise monotone tone.
Sting realised Rogue was talking about the video released all over the continent of Ishgar and possibly beyond.
The battle that rewrote the idea of the strongest in the world.
"We will still win," Sting said as if trying to convince himself. "He lost because he battled a dragon, and we Dragon Slayers are the only ones who have the power to battle them."
Rogue and the Exceeds did not reply. They just stood silently.
Three months passed, and the time for the Grand Magic Games arrived.
Karna had already told everyone that he would not be participating in the Games, and he also had to attend an important meeting.
So he left before the teams were decided.
He had a meeting with the current third God of Ishgar.
"Sorry it took so long to have this meeting, my boy. You can't imagine how busy we were due to the complications caused by the removal of the fourth God of Ishgar," Warrod said with a bit of fatigue in his voice.
Karna used his senses on Warrod and found out that he was not well. The injuries in his body seemed to be completely healed, but the toll it took for his body to endure and recover from the wounds had taken something from him.
Even if Karna used the Horse Talisman, he wouldn't be able to heal him.
Warrod was able to sense Karna's magic on him.
"You don't need to worry about that, boy. It's something that would have happened one way or another. If you had not warned us about him, the resulting catastrophe would have taken even more than what it took now, since he never completed the Lacrima collection," Warrod muttered as he remembered that one of the last two lacrimas God Serena was searching for was a Fire Lacrima.
The battle would have been even more dangerous for him if he had acquired that lacrima.
"Well, you said you didn't want any kind of position in the council, even though the position we were offering was the leader of the Ishgar Four. Some might think it is too much, but all those who saw your fight with Acnologia and understood the depth of your powers know that you deserve this position."
"It's too much work, Warrod. I'm already looking after the three weapons of Ishgar to make sure they don't get destroyed. Plus, I like the way I live my life."
Warrod just smiled at that reply and waved his hand slightly. A few branches from the nearby trees began to stretch into the next room, bringing in a wide chest and placing it in front of Karna.
"Well, we decided to at least give you a reward for the sacrifices you made to protect the entire Ishgar continent."
Karna opened the box curiously, and the result made his eyes shine with excitement.
"Oh man, this stuff is not bad," he said with a smile.
At the same time, Makarov had decided the teams that would participate in the Grand Magic Games. But this time, instead of hiding it like in canon, he decided the teams openly, and the competition between the two was also announced from the beginning.
"Alright then, the rules are clear. The winning team can order around the losing team for an entire day without any restrictions, as long as you bring them back in one piece," Makarov said with a wide grin.
But hearing such an unreasonable declaration only lit up the fire within the two teams as they looked at each other, the challenge clear in their eyes.
Team A consisted of Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Erza, and Elfman, with Wendy as the extra member in case anything happened to the five members.
Team B consisted of Cana, Laxus, Mira, Juvia, and Gajeel, with Ultear standing as the extra member in case something happened to the other members.
Both teams were ready and prepared to win the Grand Magic Games.
A/N - Hope you like it.
