The bamboo-colored greeting card gave off a faint bamboo fragrance, and the elegantly written wishes made for a pleasing sight.
But the signature at the end of the card made Old Madam Wen feel as if she had seen a ghost.
Niece-in-law Bai Heshu.
Niece-in-law, niece-in-law...
Everyone knew that the present Wen family had three brothers, with the late Wen Yizhi being the youngest. By any calculation, Bai Heshu was a daughter-in-law.
But the term niece-in-law threw Old Madam Wen's mind into chaos.
She realized that Bai Heshu must have found out that Wen Yizhi was not the son of the Two Elders of Wen Family but the nephew of Old Master Wen.
Her hands trembled uncontrollably, and seeing the card in her hand, Old Madam Wen didn't know what she remembered, but in nearly full terror, she threw the card away.
Rising too quickly, as she tried to sit by the bedside again, Old Madam Wen didn't sit firmly and fell to the floor.
