Muriel could only hear Essence's footsteps get softer and softer, eventually they vanish. A hero abandoning his people, it was her first to witness the cruelty. Tears rushed down her eyes but were absorbed the blindfold. She strengthened her resolve to fight. Suddenly a system pop up glowed up beside her "stay close to your dad, ill deal with most of them, but some will still go through. And do not think I will abandon people. I'm not a saint but I'm still a hero." A smile radiates on her face as she spoke under her breath "Such a dumbass."
The Goblins stand silent. They stood like soldier on a battlefield, seeing these mindless ones stand like trained humans, Essence knew at a single glance something was off, from his hiding spot in the building nearby he saw a faint light, it was purplish with a hint of red flickers. he decided to close the distance by hiding behind broken debris. Walking among rotten flesh and charred wood and many daily necessities. While walking he stepped on glass, it shattered with loud noise. Thankfully it didn't alert any of those beasts. Looking down he saw a portrait. It was of a girl holding a degree of risk management of finances. "Quite a grand one.... Sadly, of no use." He continued walking. He stood on the building in front of the hoard of goblins. they all smelled of blood and rotten flesh. Essence got ready to attack but then he spotted a few humanoid looking figures. They were humans but looked like pigs in a slaughterhouse, well they did suffer a pain worse than pigs. being a female stuck with goblins could have its own dedicated place in hell, it would be one of the lower ones. These mindless green scavengers have a special nick for shiny things, but something more valuable for them is, a female. They don't reproduce among themselves. They require a female but there are no females which take birth in this hellhole. Their reproduction also is just as special, its parasitic. They feed over their mother's nutrients, 1 female capable of birthing nearly 50. It drains the female. yet the worse is yet to come as after giving birth them all, she also becomes the 1st source of food. I wouldn't even curse my enemies with such a horrible fate. But Essence could see their pain first hand.
The goblin was casting some weird spell around them, thankfully they were held up high tied on long wooden logs. He did a quick prayer for them to not die from the following and got ready. He unveiled big rocks covered in oil. They were originally supposed to be used as cannon shots, but Essence had the high ground. He light then a flame threw them down making it rain. They goblins soon noticed him and started to climb the building. Essence was also ready as he had poured bike fuel all over the building stairs. before even the first goblin could reach up, the building was lit aflame. Essence laughed in victory. Then he heard the sound of grass breaking. looking back, a hobgoblin was trying to throw those wooden logs over on to him. Thankfully he was high enough to be far from reach. Then he decided to throw the steel rods. 1 hobgoblin had his chest completely pierced through and he managed to injure the remaining 3 out of 6. But Essence missed many times, which one of the hobgoblins took note of. It grabbed one of the missed poles. it ran towards one, grabbed it and managed to through it in 1 fast and fluid motion. It was so fast that Essence had no time to react before it was right in front of him. Yet somehow, he managed to stop with his forearm. but not without costs. it took out a noticeable chunk of flesh right out of his forearm. His right arm was now unable to grab. Rage boiled in his head. He hid behind the roof door to bandage his hand. He tore his t-shirt, looking under he saw blood and dirty sweat from not bathing water but blood for nearly a month but something much more noticeable were the muscles, maybe being a hero is a good workout routine too. Then he heard a loud roar, it was a goblin trying to climb up the building. It jumped from ledge to ledge and reached the top. It was met a punch that pierced its chest through, Essence used a knife which he tired over his forearm's wound making a weapon and a good first aid. Blood flowed out of the dead goblin. It hung over Essence's hand before he kicked the beast down. Above Essence laughed in victory and also mocked the goblin. The shaman goblin gargled in anger. It let out a loud roar, Making the rest of them angry. They ran over to the building, making the building shake. it was already in shambles from the fire yet these mindless tried to climb. Essence took his opportunity and jumped in the middle of them. They all grabbed Essence to hold down. Yet he jumped out from within slashing these small green ones into chunks. His landing was cushioned within the bodies of those he struck down. 3 of them still remained. a challenge he could probably not deal with, yet he smiled ear to ear, the beasts were also not ready for what was about to come. Essence.... ran away. A bit anti climatic but the hobgoblins followed him. The chase ended at the stairs Essence ran up them with an impressive speed and then at the turn up, he stopped and pulled out his unique rod-sword, Challenging the brainless beasts by pointing it straight at their eyes "3 won't even leave a scratch on me." he said with his grin not fading. but his taunt had him humbled by the hobgoblin throwing a rock which probably broke his rib. The strength difference was clearly noticeable. Essence was sweating buckets now, as they all got ready to throw the stones. He ran up as the turn as the followed up, but it was a faint, Essence pierced the first one in his gut with the rod-sword, and pushed him at the one behind, the 3rd grabbed him by his neck and lifted him up. Essence twirled his body on its hard and landed a strong kick, unfortunately for him the beast had good instincts, it grabbed him and twisted his leg. Essence screamed in pain. The first one recovered and tried helping his kind, But Essence fighting the pain punched his hand with the knife right into the eye of the first goblin, it ridged in agony as blood sprayed out. The 3rd loosened his grip on Essence after seeing kin killed with such brutality, Essence took the chance and kicked him with his left foot and let himself free. The monster tried to grab Essence in a hug, but Essence pushed himself off the handrest and jumped down with him. Ending its miserable life with a slice on the neck. Now only one was left, Essence stood up to see him glaring down at him with ferocity, It jumped down with the club to end Essence, Essence with his eyes closed bent over placing his rod sword over him, It pierced the hobgoblin through. Essence let out a small chuckle "Not even close." As he got up limping and walked towards the human's tied up, He cut the ropes with his injured hand's knife. But the last girl tired up, he felt like he knew her from somewhere, then it clicked "YO, are you the risk management girl?" She was quite confused "Do I know you?" the other four gathered up to thank Essence as one shouted "OH NO! Your leg is broken and your hand is bleeding" Essence looked at them with annoyed eyes "Yea I literally fought like 500 Goblins and saved you." But then the girl standing in front of him spoke up "Really? you almost killed us with that land slide." "Nah, wouldn't have hit u even if I did it with my eyes closed." Essence spoke in clear arrogance. But then the other four feel at his legs "We thank you saviour!" Essence stopped them with humility and respect "Please get up! You are all Senior to me, I should be the one do-" before he could finish, he saw the girl looking at the sky trying to avoid eye contact "I mean, I'm not asking u to also fall at my feet, but I'll still expect a thank you." "Yea thanks." Her words annoyed Essence "Looks like the risk management course doesn't come with an ethics one." She looked back with arrogance "Kid, you are what? 15? You don't even look like you are from here. Sir john would have saved us anytime. Follow us to Sir John's shelter he'll keep you safe, and try to stay in and not jump into fights, Keep your young blood unde-" "The shelter is no more, John is just walking flesh and the rest of them are waiting for death." They carried Essence back with slow steps. The questions of the girl were endless "IS EVERYTHING OK? ARE THE HOMES STILL INTACT? HOW'S SIR JOHN? IS HIS DAUGHTER STILL OK? HER MOTHER WAS ACTULLY WITH-" "SHUT-UP! My body is really not in shape to listen to you." She was again angry "Kid, do you really have no respect for us? I'm thankful that you saved us but that doesn't mean you shout and try to ke-" "Again? You are Twice as literate as me, but you are not even half as mature. Grow a sense, isn't that hard." She ran up and stood in front of him "You think coming to save us as a hero and killing those goblins makes you untouchable? You are also human and you will be treated like us." Essence was ready to argue back but then they were stopped by the rest "Please stop both of you, you are just hurting yourself and making it difficult, and you please let the saviour rest, he is bleeding and needs to get treated." She stepped ahead with her head down "I'm sorry" she mumbled under her breath. Essence also spoke up "Yea, you are not wrong, im also sorry for being rude risk taker, what's your name again?" She turned back with a smile "Myself-" Essence dashed her after tripping down the 2 guys beside him and also managed to push her aside, But it was too late. The Goblin shaman shoot a Light beam that erased the top halves of the 4 and also half of the torso of the girl. Essence was quick enough to save himself but not the rest. He threw a rod through the shaman, which was as weak as a normal goblin, it was his easiest kill, yet it took away the most. He looked back at the 4, they were nothing but legs now, And the girl cried in agony "NO NO NO, THIS CANT BE! I CAN'T DIE! I WON'T DIE! NOT LIKE THIS!" Essence slowly walks up to her with a gloomy face and sits next to her and holds her only hand and locks eyes "Stop it. Please! don't die arguing!" "I am not even married! I still haven't seen the world. I can't no NO! SAVE ME PLEASE! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" Essence leaves her hand as her hands fall down due to blood loss after which she lets out her last breath. Essence looks at the cloudy sky melancholically nearly teary eyes "Man... Now would be a really bad time to rain..."
