ELIJAH'S POV
The office building felt different when I walked through those familiar glass doors. The security guard nodded at me with the same respect he'd shown for years, but there was something else in his eyes now. Curiosity, maybe. Or concern about why the new CEO's brother was here when Isaac was laid up in the hospital.
I didn't care what he thought. This was my building again. My company. The way it should have stayed all along.
The elevator ride to the executive floor seemed longer than usual. I watched the numbers climb and thought about how many times I'd had to pause this ascent because I could not stand the idea of being in Isaac's shadow. It was the most vile thing Imogen had done, turning me into the backup plan, her petty revenge.
Not anymore.
