Wan Donglin's eyes immediately darkened.
She spoke incoherently, "I'm sorry, Mr. Wan... I can't..."
He stared at her and took a step forward. But she quickly backed away, almost retreating to the terrace railing. Her face was pale as she stammered, "No... don't..."
Without another word, he turned and left.
That night, he spent all his time in the study sorting through documents. Yan Xixi left the lights on, but he never returned to the bedroom.
「It was three days before she saw Wan Donglin again.」
Since their unpleasant parting, Yan Xixi felt awkward whenever she saw him. He, however, simply smiled warmly and handed her a box. "Xixi, see if you like it?"
She opened it to find a car key inside.
She shook her head. "Thank you, Mr. Wan, but I don't have a driver's license yet."
"No problem. I'll arrange for someone to teach you tomorrow. You'll be on the road soon."
