He walked mysteriously from the east side of the courtyard to the outside of the house on the west side, occasionally causing a few dogs to bark.
"Little Chu, Little Chu." He said softly while standing under the window, "Are you asleep?"
Little Chu had been whispering to her doll, and upon hearing someone calling her, she climbed off the bed holding the doll. She slipped on her slippers, leaned close to the window, and listened quietly; it seemed like Ling Yin's voice. He managed to climb onto the table in front of the window and push open the window to look down—sure enough, it was Ling Yin!
She hurriedly raised the doll in her hand, wanting to show off a bit.
"What's this?"
"She's my 'little sister'," Little Chu playfully adjusted the doll's hair and asked proudly, "Is she pretty?"
"I can't see clearly. Come down first, I have something to give you." He pointed to the box in his hand.
Little Chu froze there, unsure whether to go outside.
