The mother and son went upstairs, leaving Kang Chen alone, grunting as he moved a pile of boxes inside.
Kang Chen moved all the gift boxes into the living room, stacking them into a small mountain. Upstairs, Ming Mei had just finished making Xizeer's bed, and the two came downstairs. Ming Mei gleefully rushed toward her 'gift mountain,' eagerly unwrapping them. Every time she opened a box and saw the contents, she would joyfully let out a delighted sound, as happy as a child.
Kang Chen took advantage of Ming Mei being occupied with unwrapping gifts, whispering to his son, "Xizeer, come with me for a moment, I need to talk to you."
Xizeer nodded and quietly followed Kang Chen outside.
The two arrived at the pavilion by the lake.
