The two exchanged a couple of words. Shen Nie left with Beitang Qing, but before he walked away, he turned back, mouthed two words silently to her—rest assured.
Ming Mei stayed put, Shen Nie's people would come to find her later.
A waiter holding drinks approached and stopped in front of Ming Mei, "Miss, what do you need?"
Ming Mei glanced at the tray, which had red wine, juice, and lemon water.
Ming Mei picked up a glass of lemon water: "Thank you."
"You're welcome…"
"Miss, please walk to the west side, near the column closest to the door. Someone will come and take you out shortly."
Ming Mei brought the lemon water to her lips, paused, then took a sip, pretending not to have heard and turned around.
