The plane took off, heading toward the Imperial City.
Huo Er looked up at the sky. A few small birds flew past, the sky an expanse of blue. How he wished this kind of clear weather could last forever.
...
Back at camp, Huo Er went to see Fu Dongliu first.
Fu Dongliu perked up as soon as he saw Huo Er return and eagerly sat up, "How is it? How is it? Did they let you out?"
Huo Er didn't know how to respond. He had only been granted two days of temporary freedom, and once Mr. Chen returned, he would likely face even harsher punishment.
Huo Er replied, "He just asked me to handle something for him but didn't say I was free. Once the task is done, I'll probably be locked up again."
Fu Dongliu looked disappointed. "What about me, what about me? Can I get out in these two days?"
"No," Huo Er thought for a moment and shook his head.
When Mr. Chen left, he hadn't mentioned any changes to Fu Dongliu's punishment, so things were to remain as they were.
