Chapter 4 - Chapter 4.Her room

Sky's POV

"Miss, we're here," Electra said, parking the car in front of our mansion.

"Mmh," I mumbled, half-awake, half-asleep. The wine I'd had earlier had knocked me out completely. Thank God I was done with work for the day.

After our lunch, we just sat there quietly, looking at the view around us. Then, out of nowhere, I'd told Electra to take me for a ride by the ocean. The air there was so fresh—so clean—it made me forget I had any problems at all. I didn't know why, but I'd started feeling safe next to her. With her by my side, I felt at ease. Protected. Like the chaos in my head could finally take a break.

These past few days, I'd started to like her in a way I hadn't expected. She was calm, spoke less, always present. Always ready to listen to all my tantrums, my moods, my silence. She was perfect for the job... and somehow, she was starting to take more space in my heart than she was supposed to.

Something was building up between us—I could feel it, even if I didn't want to name it yet. My sexuality had always confused me a little, but one thing was clear: wherever I found love and peace, that's where I placed my heart.

"My baby, always follow your heart," my mum used to tell me when she was still alive.

As for my dad, well, he never really cared who I ended up with. "As long as you're happy, that's all that matters," he'd say.

But putting all that aside... was Electra even into women? Because I could very well be crushing on someone who had zero interest in me.

Oh fuck.

"Miss Carmen," Electra's voice came again, this time with a gentle tap on my shoulder.

I felt her touch, but opening my eyes? Yeah, that was the real problem. I tried, I really did—but my lids were so damn heavy.

"It's... Sky," I mumbled, eyes still closed.

"Sky, you need to get inside. It's cold outside," she said calmly.

Damn, her voice...

This woman was going to be the death of me.

I managed to open my eyes halfway. The light stung a little. I groaned.

"Uhm... Electra, I can't feel my legs," I slurred.

I heard her mumble something under her breath—probably a curse—then she got out of the car and came around to my side. She opened the door and looked down at me like I was a half-dead kitten.

"What?" I asked, confused and out of it.

"Come here," she said, holding out her hand.

She slowly helped me out of the car. I wobbled a bit, barefoot now since my heels had been the first to betray me. She stepped away just long enough to grab my shoes and bag, then locked the car and turned back to me. Her eyes scanned me quickly, probably calculating just how drunk I was.

She started walking toward the house.

I stood there... tried to move...

But my legs said hell no.

The next second, my knees buckled—and I plopped right down on the ground.

"Auchhh," I hissed. That definitely hurt.

Electra turned immediately and rushed back to where I'd fallen. Without hesitation, she scooped me up in her arms like I weighed nothing.

Damn.

Chic is strong.

I could hear her heartbeat pounding, loud and steady. I wondered if she could hear mine. Hope it doesn't pop out...

And God, she smelled good. I hadn't noticed it before—not really—but up close, her scent was just... addictive. Clean, soft, a little musky, like rain and wildflowers. It made my head spin even more.

She carried me effortlessly, taking slow, careful steps toward the mansion. The guards, seeing her approach, opened the main doors immediately.

"Do you need any help?" one of them asked.

"No, I'm good," she replied confidently, striding in without breaking her pace.

I could hear the maids whispering as we passed. One asked if I was okay.

Of course I'm okay. I'm just being cradled like a damn princess by my hot bodyguard. Nothing to see here.

"Electra," I called softly, looking up at her.

"Yes?"

"My room is... at the very last end of the corridor."

"Okay," she replied, her voice low and firm.

She got to my door and pushed it open, walking in with me still in her arms. She dropped my bag on the table, placed my heels on the floor, then gently laid me on the bed.

She stood in the room for a moment, just watching me, then called my name.

"Sky."

"Hmm," I answered, my eyes half-closed.

"I think I can leave you here for now. You'll do the rest when you have the energy," she said while tucking me in.

"Uhmm," I replied. I was too tired to care whether she stayed or not.

I know one thing about myself—once I'm in bed, I snore.

I felt her walk away after making sure I was okay. She went to the door and quietly left the room.

Electra's POV

Thinking about Sky's offer for us to drink together earlier that night had my brain in a thousand pieces. It was tempting… but was it worth the risk? I knew myself when drunk—too touchy, too messy. I was no one's peace when I'd had too much, especially around someone I had feelings for.

Maybe I was reading too much into it, but I couldn't shake the feeling that she wanted to cross that boss–worker line. I didn't want to jump to conclusions, so I told myself to just move with the flow.

These thoughts kept running through my mind like fire, so I needed to cool off… or maybe steam it out with a cigar. Yeah, I really needed that puff.

I pulled out my cigars, lit one, and started smoking as I sipped on some wine. The mint flavor was soothing, calming my racing thoughts. I guess I'd just wait to see what tomorrow had in store for me. Sky was probably already deep asleep; she wouldn't go out that drunk anyway.

Finishing my last puff, I stubbed the cigar in the ashtray and finally headed for bed....
