"It seems you've been doing too much for the race, Cecily Edevane." Matthew smiled slightly and suddenly bowed to her. "Thank you very much."
Cecily turned to stare at him. "Why are you bowing and thanking me? I only did what all vampires should do," she said, somewhat confused.
"Everyone should, but not many are willing to do it selflessly as you have." Matthew stood up and looked at the horizon. "In fact, I know that under my command there are many subordinates who only wait for the benefits I can give them."
"Transforming them into Dietrich. The power of belonging to a legendary family. Being the subordinate of the Heir of Dietrich... All of that is a status that even power cannot give. Many of them do not do it selflessly like you."
Cecily had a glimmer of understanding, so she nodded slightly.
"I also have my own selfish reasons for doing this; I'm not as selfless as you think," she pointed out, not wanting to take credit that didn't belong to her.
