Chapter 7 - Smell of Blood(2)

Vengeance is in my heart, death in my hand, Blood and revenge are hammering in my head. -William Shakespeare, "Titus Andronicus"

In the quiet of his mind's library, his mind wandered into a realm of imagination. Meanwhile, back in the real world, a shove from Remi awakened him.

To be wishful of anything other than what is given, selfishness. The desire is like a plague, what's mine is mine, but what of those wishful eyes watching mine?

To want more.

To need more.

No.

To be needed.

"We did nothing against them, is it really necessary to kill them all?! Listen to yourself, Daken!"

"Listen to myself?! We're gangsters for crying out loud! They attacked us, so we attack them back! Why are you acting a fool, Yuuto?!"

"Complete eradication is just insanity! Do you know how many bikers would be angry once they found we killed not one, but hundreds of their people?! Thousands of bikers would come after us!"

"Not if we showcase our power by utterly wiping them out of existence! They'll be too afraid once they see how easily we dealt with them!"

"We already have multiples enemies for every front were on, we can't risk more!"

The two men bickered from across the garage, more than one-hundred men around them. And surrounding them, armored vehicles.

"Quiet, the both of you." Kyoki's voice resonated through the room, all eyes shifting to him. He was leaned up against his BMW, hands interlocked and between his legs, "you've given me a headache. And Yuuto, it's already been decided. The Steel Hounds will be no more once we're done with them."

"Tsk!" Yuuto, the wakagashira(underboss), clicked his tongue. The corners of her eyes held cherry embers, and his mohawk cut through the air like an inky spire.

"Hmph." Daken, the Kumicho(Clan head), heaved a sigh. Brooding eyebrows, dark and expressive, accentuated his intense gaze as he stood a full head taller than Yuuto.

The Yamishin Syndicate's hierarchy was the following:

Oyabun (親分) - Godfather or Boss:

-The highest-ranking member and leader of the yakuza family. The Oyabun is the ultimate authority, and members are expected to show absolute loyalty and obedience. That being Kyoki in this case. And while Remi has no specific title, she is considered a boss like him.

Kumicho (組長) - Clan Head:

-The Kumicho is the leader of a specific yakuza family or clan. They oversee the family's operations and maintain discipline among members.

Wakagashira (若頭) - Underboss:

-The Wakagashira is the second-in-command and assists the Kumicho in managing the family. They may take over leadership in the absence of the Oyabun.

Kyodai (兄弟) - Senior Members:

-Senior members, or Kyodai, hold significant authority within the family. They may lead subgroups within the organization and are responsible for enforcing discipline.

Shateigashira (舎弟頭) - Junior Boss:

-Junior Bosses are responsible for managing specific branches or factions within the family. They report directly to the higher-ranking members.

Shatei (舎弟) - Junior Members:

-Junior Members, or Shatei, are lower-ranking members who serve the higher-ups. They often perform tasks such as collection, enforcing discipline, and carrying out orders, like Ryo and the two guards at Ren's abode.

Kobun (子分) - Associates or Apprentices:

-Kobun are the lowest-ranking members or associates. They may be in the early stages of initiation and are expected to show respect and loyalty to higher-ranking members, such as Hiroki.

"Now then, let's begin the plan making," he pointed to the back of the garage. A man stood there, an overhead projector by him. He clicked a button on a remote, light reflecting onto the wall. It was a projectile of a map.

"There's five red dots marked there on the map. That's five safe havens for them. We're going to split into two groups. Team Swallow and Team Salmon." The men chattered about the names. Kyoki ignored them and nodded his head, the man clicking a button again, the screen changing. "Team Swallow will first attack this restaurant right here, the Wasabi Whisk."

"What?" A voice quietly muttered, shocked.

"Man, I like that place, though." Another wept.

"Don't worry boys. Once you're done trashing the place and kicking the bikers out, we'll just start it anew." Kyoki assured them, clicking the button again, continuing, "afterwards, you guys will then go and raid their safehouse in the Keihin Industrial Zone."

"That's Himura territory." A voice spoke out.

"Don't worry about that, I will ensure the Himura family does not hurt any of you. Once done there, you will come back down here. As for Team Salmon, which I am a part of, our first target will be a parking lot near the ferris wheel. They raided a safehouse of ours and think they own the place, so we're gonna go and rough 'em up."

He cracked his knuckles, "there's four entrances, so we'll blockade them in with our cars," the projectile man switched the screen again. "On the screen there is our second target, an underground garage much like this one."

"Just not as good, you mean?" Daken jested, all the men agreeing.

"Correct. It's located farther south, by the TOHO Cinema. It's where they've begun to use as their money transportation spot. If they plan on sending our stolen money away, then it's most likely there. I will split team Salmon in half. One will enter the top of the garage to take over the elevators whilst the other half goes underground, that way none of the bikers can escape."

"Who's on whose team boss?" Hiroki blurted, unable to show his excitement.

Finally, the last projected screen appeared. It was titled, "Team Swallow."

Below the title, a large list of names. Amongst the one hundred and fifty names were the names Remi, Daken, and Hiroki

"Remi is in charge of Team Swallow with Daken as her second in command. If your name is not on the screen, then you're with me." Kyoki declared.

"Team Swallow, follow me!" Remi commanded, getting into a red Nissan S-14. The garage opened, the setting sun shining through. Daken followed her closely after she exited, tens of cars behind them.

Once the sounds of exhausts were extinguished, the remaining men waited for the boss' order.

"Yuuto, you're my second in command. I'm going to make a quick call, settle the men into some car's 'till I'm out."

"Yes, boss." He bowed, quickly turning around and beginning to shout his orders.

Kyoki entered an elevator and hit a button, bringing him to ground floor. He walked up the receptionist and motioned for a phone. The receptionist turned around, unlocked a cabinet, and handed some keys to a family, "enjoy your stay here at Deluxe Hotel!"

Then, she dialed a number and handed it to Kyoki.

It rung a few times, then it was picked up.

"What is it, Kyoki?" The voice was blunt, harsh.

"Is that how you respond to an old friend. Huh, Tadashi?"

"You lost that right when you killed my daughter."

"Did me saving your son not make it up to you?"

"Not when while you're holding his friend hostage."

Kyoki's voice turned smug, "ah, yes. Kozue is safe you needn't worry about her. I don't plan on doing to her what I did to your daughter."

No voice responded, but Kyoki knew that Tadashi was bititing his lips in anger. After a pause, "let's not act ignorant here. We both know you're calling, because you have a proposition for how I can get her back right?"

"Yes."

"So, what is it?"

"Some of family," Tadashi scoffed at family. Kyoki paid it no heed, continuing, "will pass through your turf tonight. All I ask is that you don't touch them."

"And you'll release Kozue?"

"You know my word is as strong cardboard," Kyoki's face remained the same, like an undead.

"Fuck you...But, I will let them pass through. I know this business of yours does not concern me, so I'll allow it. However-"

"Yes, yes, you'll declare war on me," Kyoki sarcastically said.

Click!

"Like always, keep up the good work," he knocked on the counter, as he handed her the phone back. She replied with a smile and preceded with the next person in line, then he went back to the elevator and down to the garage.

Everybody except Yuuto was in a car. "Ready boss?"

"Let's go kill some bikers."
