Chapter 38 - Chapter 35

Police officer Goofy demonstrated remarkable prowess, swiftly apprehending the murderous gangster without hesitation. As Goofy and Hank jointly subdued the criminal on the ground, the crowd erupted in continuous applause.

Several fellow police officers rushed to assist, and a black girl approached Goofy with admiration, expressing gratitude and recognizing the strategic brilliance in his actions.

"Police officer, thank you for teaching us a valuable lesson: first stabilize the criminal's emotions, he persuades him to replace the hostage with emotion and reason, then deliberately handcuffs his hands to relax the opponent's vigilance, and finally approaches the gun-wielding murderer, making his pistol unusable, and capturing the gangster in close combat. This series of measures opened my eyes!"

Goofy, with a modest demeanor, replied, "Don't say that; I'm not as powerful as you think. The reason I was able to capture the gangster was mainly by mistake."

Iris, the black girl, smiled and shook her head, insisting, "You are too modest, police officer. If you are not fully confident, how dare you risk your life to be a hostage? No one in this world will deliberately die, so you must have planned it long ago. All this, isn't it?"

Goofy was momentarily speechless, acknowledging the validity of her point. He couldn't refute the logic, although, in reality, there are people in this world who deliberately seek death but often fail.

However, Goofy couldn't reveal the truth, so he simply touched the back of his head and replied, "Yeah."

Iris, being friendly, approached enthusiastically, introducing herself, "Police officer, my name is Iris, from the NYPD 93 branch; what's your name?"

Though Goofy wasn't eager to make new friends, he maintained a decent facade, replying, "My name is Goofy; I'm from the NYPD 109 branch."

Upon hearing this, Iris was shocked, exclaiming, "What? Are you Goofy? The legendary Goofy?"

Goofy, bewildered, asked, "Why am I a legend?"

The girl covered her mouth, taking a couple of steps back, wide-eyed, as though she were not seeing Goofy but witnessing the appearance of a deity. After a moment, she took a deep breath and stammered, "I should have thought of it earlier; we don't have many Asian police officers in Brooklyn, and their skills... If they are so good, they are even rarer."

Excitedly, she turned and shouted, "Guys! Guess who this officer is? He's Goofy! Yes, that Goofy!"

The other police officers, now agitated, rushed over.

"Is that Goofy?"

"The legendary Goofy?"

"Goofy, who forced the truck to stop alone?"

"Goofy, the smuggler who was hanged in a plaster cast?"

"Goofy, who broke into the stronghold of the black gang alone?"

"New York hero?"

Goofy felt overwhelmed by the numerous descriptors associated with his name. The background data surged with admiration and praise.

Hank, squatting aside, smiled, appreciating the admiration and praises bestowed upon his good friend. Goofy, often referred to as the most legendary police officer in history, had indeed accumulated numerous achievements over time.

Soon, the Jaquier family joined in the celebration. Old Jaquier, still emotional, expressed his gratitude.

Goofy reassured the old gentleman, "You're welcome; this is my duty; you don't have to worry about it."

The Jaquille family's three children also came downstairs. Michelle Jaquille hugged Goofy tightly, thanking him for being her father's savior.

Goofy smiled, saying, "You're welcome; this is what I should do."

Hank, in the meantime, explained the situation to the Jaquille family. They needed to relocate due to the potential dangers arising from Rickon Jaquier being exposed as an undercover NYPD agent.

The Jaquier family, understanding their situation, was worried about Rickon's safety. Hank assured them that the NYPD would do everything to protect the safety of every undercover agent, and Rickon would be immediately withdrawn.

The old man nodded, grateful, "Please, police officer."

After a brief exchange with the Jaquille family, Hank and Goofy escorted the gangster away. However, this was just the beginning of the smuggling black gang's revenge. The entire New York police department became tense as they faced the relentless retaliation of the black gang.

In the following week, tragic events unfolded in Brooklyn and Queens. Most of the NYPD's undercover agents were withdrawn, but some fell victim to brutal attacks. Families of undercover agents who had not yet been transferred also faced retaliation. The police officer involved in the black gang suppression was shot and killed.

Facing the continuous bad news, Goofy decided to take bold action. After returning home from patrol, he closed the door, called journalist Eddie Bullock, and shared some exciting news, hoping to garner interest.

"Hey, Eddie, I have some exciting news; are you interested?"
