When Jack and the others reached the edge of the cliffs, Marcus and Yamato had already disappeared into the darkness below. Jack stomped his foot on the ground which caused it to crack and parts of it to fall off the edge as he snarled, "Contact the port, I want them found!"
Jack then turned towards Who's-Who as he added, "Chase down after them."
"And die when they knock me into the water?"
Jack leaned over slightly as his wild, bloodshot eyes locked on to Who's-Who's masked covered face as he asked, "Are you disobeying my orders?"
Who's-Who disappeared a moment later down into the darkness below but only went about halfway down before he stopped. Instead of chasing after both of them, he found a nice spot to sit down as he lit up a new cigarette and took a drag. Meanwhile down below, Marcus had scoped up Yamato in a princess carry before he used geppo to slow their fall and look for his boat.
"You could have told me this was part of the plan, I thought we were gonna die."
Marcus chuckled as he found the spot where his boat was secured and said, "Honesty this was all last minute planning. I was hoping we could have climbed down, but taking the express elevator always works."
"Express elevator?"
Marcus placed Yamato down when he landed on the back of his boat before he said, "Yeah, jumping from someplace high up is taking the express elevator."
Yamato nodded slightly as she glanced over the small boat with no sail before she asked, "This is your boat? Why doesn't it have a sail?"
"It doesn't need it. Help me disconnect from these rocks and I'll show you how it works." Marcus said as he started to untie some of the ropes he set up.
Within minutes they were both inside the cabin as Marcus explained the basics of how the boat worked. Yamato stared at him with wide eyes filled with stars as she pushed him into the captain's seat and said, "That's so cool! Let's go, I wanna see it!"
Marcus didn't waste time as he took his seat and inserted his sword into the control mechanism before he started to feed it power. The boat quickly pulled away from the island as Marcus did his best to dodge the whirlpools in the dark. Yamato, fascinated by how the ship worked, tried to watch it in the dark but gave up pretty quickly and came back inside the cabin.
"So where are we going first?"
Marcus fed his sword more power and pulled them out of a whirlpool current as he said, "We are going towards the island's exit and then getting your cuffs off."
"So we really aren't going to visit Wano's mainland?"
"Can you beat your dad in a fight or even one of the All Stars?"
"No…"
"Exactly, and neither can I."
Marcus increased the boat's speed and most of the island started to disappear from view behind them as it was swallowed by the darkness. After a couple of minutes Marcus glanced towards the quiet Yamato as he asked, "A belly for your thoughts?"
"What?"
"It's a way of asking what's on your mind."
"You have a lot of weird sayings…"
Marcus chuckled and turned the ship slightly towards the direction he came from earlier as he said, "True, but you've never left Wano… Those could be considered normal things to say in other parts of the world."
"Really?"
"Maybe…" Marcus said with a shrug before he added, "So do you wanna share what's on your mind?"
"I really wanted to visit the rest of Wano and explore it."
"I promise we will come back one day, but we both need to get stronger first… You're not the only person who wants to explore this place properly."
Yamato turned to study Marcus and his still hidden face before she asked, "So why is your face covered up anyways? Are you injured or something?"
"It's to hide my identity. It's the same reason I gave a fake name. I didn't feel like getting chased around by your dad."
"So you gonna remove that and tell me your real name then?"
Marcus shook his head slightly before he said, "Not yet, I'll do that once we're away from Wano and I don't have to worry about accidentally being caught."
"By the way, you wouldn't happen to know how to play the drums would you?"
"No, why?"
"A friend of mine has a band and we need a drummer… You wouldn't happen to have an interest in learning how to play them, would you?" Marcus asked as he glanced towards Yamato.
"I never really thought about it…"
"Learning to play an instrument is a good hobby if you don't already have one."
As they talked Marcus noticed lights in the distance and slowed his ship down as he pulled out a spy glass to get a better look. What he found were a couple of pirate ships that seemed to be patrolling the area. Thankfully his ship was tiny compared to other vessels and it was hard to make out even in the daytime. At night it was practically invisible unless you were right next to it or Marcus used a light.
Marcus changed his course so they wouldn't run into the ship's before he handed the spy glass over to Yamato and said, "Keep an eye on those ships for me and let me know if they start heading towards us."
While Marcus's boat could easily outrun anything on the water, going fast could potentially draw attention. The faster the boat traveled, the more flames it produced to get that power which meant possibly more light. With their current speed, that light was nonexistent hidden under the water, but any faster and it would slowly become noticeable. It took a while to sail wide of the ships with Marcus throttling the boat's speed, but they easily made it past them and closer to the exit of the island without incident.
Over the next few hours they ran into a few more groups of ships but each time Marcus skirted past them. It wasn't until they reached the entrance Marcus used that they were forced to stop. Patrolling in front of the area was a handful of ships that basically blocked the path down. Marcus was positive he could easily squeeze between the gaps, but doing it without being caught was another thing entirely.
Marcus studied the ships for a little while before he said, "Well, looks like we aren't going to leave this place quietly afterall."
Marcus handed the spy glass over to Yamato as he said, "I'm gonna head towards them and once they spot us, I'll remove your cuffs."
Yamato glanced down at the cuffs before she asked, "You never really explained how you were gonna do that…"
"I'm gonna use haki to do it."
"How?"
"I'll teach you later, for now get next to the cabin door so it's easier to throw them away."
Yamato moved towards the door as Marcus started to move the boat towards the waterfall entrance as she asked, "Throw them?"
"Yup, those things are gonna turn into massive bombs as soon as I remove them."
Yamato frowned slightly as she said, "My dad did say the cuffs would explode if I left the island. But it wouldn't be enough to kill me, right…"
"You can tell me what you think about that yourself after we remove them."
Yamato nodded as Marcus increased the speed a little bit and aimed for the smallest gap between the ships. While it seemed like the worst choice, he figured the large gap was being watched by more people. As they approached closer Marcus slowed down and kept his observation haki concentrated on the two closest ships. Within minutes they were only a few hundred yards from the ships and so far Marcus noticed nothing new.
When his observation haki reached the two ships he paid close attention to everyone on the ships. It wasn't until they were about fifty yards from the two ships that Yamato said, "I think we were spotted!"
Marcus sensed the same thing through his observation haki as both ships became a beehive of activity. Marcus wasted no time as he increased his boat's speed as he said, "Hold on!"
Both of them were slammed into their seats as the boat hit half power a moment later and flew towards the gap between ships. Marcus felt more people converging near the edge of the ships as some gun shots rang out above them. Marcus's boat easily slipped past the two ships and with the increased speed now of the bullets touched them. Marcus released his sword and jumped over his seat to join Yamato as the ship coasted on its current speed.
He quickly opened the cabin door before he reached for Yamato's cuffs as he said, "If this doesn't work out, thanks for trusting me."
Yamato's eyes widened as Marcus grabbed her cuffs and before she could even respond he used haki to rip them off and throw them towards the two ships they just passed. Yamato followed them with her eyes and everything seemed to happen in slow motion all at once. The two cuffs hit the water near the ship's before a massive explosion erupted and seemed to swallow both ships. At the same time a massive tsunami rose up from the water and flew towards them.
"That bastard was really trying to kill me!" Yamato screamed as her eyes popped out of her head at the size of the explosion.
Marcus ignored her as he slammed the cabin door closed and locked it before he jumped back into his seat as he said, "Hold on, this is gonna suck!"
When Yamato turned to look at what Marcus was talking about, she noticed nothing in front of them. Then a moment later the ship started to tilt forward and she realized they were in the air. Yamato grabbed the seat in front of her with both hands as she started to feel weightless and float in the air. As the boat started to fall towards the darkness below it was hit by the tsunami of water from behind and slammed forward as Yamato screamed while Marcus laughed like a mad man.
"This isn't funny! We're really gonna die this time!"
"But isn't this what you wanted? To go on an adventure?" Marcus asked as he let out another wild laugh as the boat started to drop again.
"This isn't an adventure, this is us falling to our deaths!"
"My brother would argue otherwise, he is gonna be so upset he wasn't here for this."
"Your brother sounds like an idiot." Yamato said as she floated in the air while her hands deathgripped the seat so she didn't fly into the roof.
Marcus reached out with one hand and helped pull her down into the front seat next to him as he said, "He is, but I think you would like him."
As Yamato gripped the seat and part of the boat's dashboard she asked, "Shouldn't we jump out of the boat so you can save us from the fall again?"
"And lose the boat?"
"I want to live!"
Marcus laughed as the boat reached terminal velocity and flew nose downward towards the ocean below. Marcus learned his lesson from last time and didn't try to save the boat with his sword as he just let the boat fall how it wanted. What seemed like an eternity to them but was only a few minutes as they both held on tight, they finally saw the water below them.
Yamato turned towards Marcus and asked in a panicked tone, "Are you sure we can't leave the boat?"
"Just hold on and coat the boat in armament haki!"
"The whole boat?" Yamato asked in an incredulous tone.
"I've already done it, it's not hard. But it drains you and I need my strength to get us out of here!"
Yamato gripped the seat tighter as she started to force her haki into it. It was awkward at first since it wasn't her weapon and a lot bigger than normal. But fear was an incredible motivator and as they fell through the darkness she kept forcing her haki into the boat. As they rushed towards the water below, Yamato's haki slowly covered the whole ship. It took all of her concentration to hold it in place, but just before they hit the water she had the entire ship coated.
Marcus braced himself as best as he could next to Yamato as he coated himself in haki. When they hit the water, both of them slammed into the front of the cabin before they bounced off of it. Marcus expecting it to happen took the impact a lot better than Yamato, but both of them were mostly fine afterwards. As the ship started to sink into the water from its momentum, Yamato glanced around and asked in surprise, "That actually worked?"
