Chapter 10 - Nightmare spell...2

I was now hanging upside down from a tall tree; it was the biggest I found. It's been half a week since I began observing this place, and truly, it was mind-breaking. From what I could tell, this wasn't just any place; it was a literal death zone. I couldn't fathom how people had made a village here of all places. I found myself in a place that I knew off. Yes, it was the same forgotten shore. For now, it existed in the past in the Dream realm, and the mountains were hollow. If I'm not wrong, there could be, in its depths, an ancient horror of darkness that messed up Nep. I didn't want to go there; it's no unholy titan, but whatever is there is not something I can even dare to think about going against—not right now at least. But if my estimates are not wrong, this nightmare will have a tyrant. Just what kind, I don't know. I hope it's a dormant or, at most, an awakened one. Anything more than that, and I'm not confident I can even run away from it.

So what I'm doing right now, hanging upside down from the tree, is to plan and prepare. After all, I have survived a lot so far, not because of my personal powers but just tricks. They don't always work, but right now, I have to do anything I can to survive. So, this is why I am thinking about setting traps so I can kill as many beasts and monsters as I can with my normal army. I'll also kill demons and devils with my small group of a special army of weak glint stone mages, ruin bears, and the sloths. But I can't fully rely on them; their numbers are too low. Me and the Abyss Watchers will have to fight if any strong demon or devil shows up, and also a tyrant too. But I have not one, but three Abyss Watchers. It's great help, but only one of them is truly strong, just like in the arena. Still, it will be immensely helpful, and from what I have seen after summoning them, I won that fight on pure luck. These guys are beasts, but I have never seen what nightmares are like, so I have no frame of reference to compare them to.

So first of all, I have summoned at least 20,000 undead to help me set up the traps. I can't bring all of them, as it will become too crowded, and this number is huge when they stand together. These traps are nothing but just extra preparation. My real plan is to use numbers as bait and kill the beasts and monsters. But tricks and baits won't work on demons and devils, so we just have to crush them.

And just like that, the rest of the week also ended. I have done everything I can. Now, just one last thing was remaining—to scare or warn the villagers away from the danger. As I can see, the fight is just on the horizon. I have to do something. I still don't know how I should talk to this group of people, but I can just do the acting like I was some wandering warrior. Who knows how it will go?

So I made my way towards the village, making sure that my face was fully covered, and my armor looked a little used. I carried my sword on my back, and it was bigger than me, almost dragging on the ground. But I made my way towards the entry of the village, and I could see from here that just by making my presence known, they were scared, as I probably looked scary.

Well, it could have gone nicer, but in the end, now I am sitting in a big hut of the chief on a wooden chair. I was getting bored, and I wished I could go back and practice my new sword. But it's also important, as I was thinking about killing a tyrant. The chief and a man in his late 20s finally came in, and he also sat down.

We both looked at each other, but I could see his fear as I represented the unknown and danger. Still, he is holding himself well for now. It was me who started our talk, as I have heard to convince someone; you have to lead the conversation. So that's what I did. I first introduced myself as an Abyss Watcher and explained, or just told him, the story about an Abyss Watcher and how I was now the last one remaining. Also, I explained what I was here for—to warn them of the coming wave of monsters, or in these times, they are called corrupted.

And in the end, he finally believed me. It was not that hard, as their ancestors had already warned them of the danger of the mountains. They were not even allowed to go near it, and they have been attacked by beasts in the past. So it was not hard to convince them that a monster wave was coming. But the problem is now, as they have nowhere to go, as winter was coming, and they had no experience of moving around. But I said to them, I was going to fight corrupted , but I can't save them all.

It was dangerous time for the people as the winter was coming . They have been saving any food they can preserve for the entire year now as the winters will be not give them many chances to gather food.It will be hard for them to just abruptly get up and leave. So in the end, they decided their fate as they will fight till the end.

Well, this is all I could do for now. Let's go and check my plan again, and practice my sword. And think about how I will be going forward. It won't be long before the fight starts.
